Analysis of drilling difficulty of extended-reach wells based on drilling limit theory

With the continuous increase in vertical depths and horizontal displacements of directional wells,the difficulties of drilling operations continue to increase,and more accurate methods of drilling difficulty evaluation are *** this paper,a drilling difficulty evaluation method is built by combining drilling limit model and expert ***,the concept of drilling difficulty index is introduced,and the method to calculate drilling difficulty index is ***,the meanings of five drilling difficulty levels are explained and the optimization design method with drilling difficulty as the target is *** last,the theoretical model is applied to the extended-reach drilling of the Liuhua oilfield in the South China Sea,in which drilling difficulties are evaluated and the relationship between drilling difficulty and development control radius is *** results indicate that extended-reach drilling in the Liuhua oilfield is on the“normal”difficulty level on average,rotary drilling in 8_(1/2)-*** is the most difficult,and the main constraint conditions are excessive torque and high *** technology upgradation,the drilling difficulties are decreased,the development control radius increases from 6.6 to 11.4 km,and the maximum horizontalto-vertical ratio increases from 5.3 to ***,the development wells in marginal oilfields and adjustment wells in old oilfields can be drilled on“normal”difficulty ***,technology upgradation,especially drilling rig upgradation,is the most important development direction for extended-reach drilling in the South China Sea.

Novel strategy for accurate tumor labeling:endogenous metabolic imaging through metabolic probes

Altered metabolism has long been recognized as a central hallmark of cancer;however,in the fluorescence imaging field,few studies have been conducted to label tumors by exploiting metabolic differences between cancer cells and normal *** this work,we successfully developed a metabolic probe MB-C for specific imaging of glutathione(GSH)dynamic metabolic *** was endogenously metabolized to produce SO_(2)via Na_(2)S_(2)O_(3) and thiosulfate sulfurtransferase,equilibrating with sulfites/***-C was allowed to be activated by GSH along with multi-fluorescence emission increased in red and green channels and further sequence-response metabolites(SO_(2))of GSH in significant fluorescence ratio change of red and green ***,such evident fluorescence ratio changes could be used to distinguish cancer cells from normal cells and identify tumor and normal ***,GSH metabolic imaging was successfully applied to accurately label tumors,which provides a new idea and practical case for the precise visualization of malignant tumors.

This editorial assesses the prognostic value of preoperative inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers in patients undergoing surgical resection for pancreatic *** et al evaluated the ability of seven biomarkers to predict postoperative recovery and long-term *** biomarkers were albumin-to-globulin ratio,prognostic nutritional index(PNI),systemic immune-inflammation index,neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio,platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio,nutritional risk index,and geriatric nutritional risk *** PNI was found to be a strong predictor of both overall and recurrence-free survival,underscoring its clinical relevance in managing patients with pancreatic cancer.

Lung Nodules detection in CT Images Using Gestalt-Based Algorithm

To overcome low accuracy and high false positive of existing computer-aided lung nodules *** propose a novel lung nodule detection scheme based on the Gestalt visual cognition *** proposed scheme involves two parts which simulate human eyes cognition features such as simplicity,integrity and ***,lung region was segmented from lung Computed tomography(CT) *** local threedimensional information was integrated into the Maximum intensity pro jection(MIP) images from axial,coronal and sagittal *** this way,lung nodules and vascular are strengthened and discriminated based on pathologic image characteristics of lung *** experimental database includes fifty-three high resolution CT images contained lung nodules,which had been confirmed by *** experimental results show that,the accuracy rate of the proposed algorithm achieves 91.29%.The proposed framework improves performance and computation speed for computer aided nodules detection.

Effects of Power density and Post Annealing Process on the Microstructure and Wettability of TiO_2 Films deposited by Mid-frequency Magnetron Reactive Sputtering

The relationship of ＂preparation parameters-microstructures-wettability＂ of TiO2 films was reported. In this work, TiO2 films were deposited onto glass and silicon substrates by using mid-frequency dual magnetron sputtering technique at ambient temperature with various power densities and deposition time. After deposition, the films were heat treated at different annealing temperatures. X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Raman spectroscopy, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy （FE-SEM） were utilized to characterize TiO2 films. The wettability of the films was evaluated by water contact angle measurement. The phase transition temperature of TiO2 films depended on the power density. It was demonstrated that wettability was strongly structure dependent and the film with the thickness of 610 nm （the power density was 2.22 W/cm^2） showed the lowest contact angle （8°）. It can be concluded that smaller crystallite size, the rutile phase with （110） face being parallel to the surface, and tensile stress favored the hydrophilicity of the TiO2 films.

Effect of solution cooling rate on the γ′ precipitation behaviors of a Ni-base P/M superalloy

The effect of cooling rate on the cooling γ′ precipitation behaviors was investigated in a Ni-base powder/metallurgy （P/M） superalloy （FGH4096）. The empirical equations were established between the cooling rate and the average sizes of secondary and tertiary γ′ precipitates within grains and tertiary γ′ precipitates at grain boundaries, as well as the apparent width of grain boundaries. The results show that the average sizes of secondary or tertiary γ′ precipitates are inversely correlated with the cooling rate. The shape of secondary γ′ precipitates within grains changes from butterfly-like to spherical with the increase of cooling rate, but all the tertiaryγ′ precipitates formed are spherical in shape. It is also found that tertiary γ′ may be precipitated in the latter part of the cooling cycle only if the cooling rate is not faster than 4.3℃/s, and the apparent width of grain boundaries decreases linearly with the increase of cooling rate.

Influence of laser parameters on the microstructures and surface properties in laser surface modification of biomedical magnesium alloys

Biodegradable implants from magnesium(Mg)alloys have emerged in the biomedical field especially in the orthopedic and cardiovascular stent applications owing to their low density,high specific strength,excellent machinability,good biocompatibility,and *** primary shortcoming of Mg-based implants is their low corrosion resistance in the physiological environment,which results in premature mechanical integrity loss before adequate healing and the production of excessive hydrogen gas,which is harmful to the body tissues and negatively affects the biocompatibility of the *** surface modification has recently received attention because it can improve the surface properties such as surface chemistry,roughness,topography,corrosion resistance,wear resistance,hydrophilicity,and thus cell response to the surface of the *** composition and microstructures including textures and phases of laser-treated surfaces depend largely on the laser processing parameters(input laser power,laser scan velocity,frequency,pulse duration,pressure,gas circulation,working time,spot size,beam focal position,and laser track overlap)and the thermophysical properties of the substrate(solubility,melting point,and boiling point).This review investigates the impacts of various laser surface modification techniques including laser surface melting,laser surface alloying,laser cladding,laser surface texturing,and laser shock peening,and highlights their significance in improving the surface properties of biodegradable Mg alloys for implant ***,we explore how different laser process parameters affect its composition,microstructure,and surface properties in each laser surface modification technique.

Pronounced impact of size and shape effects on creep rupture life of a K439B superalloy combustion chamber casting simulator

The size and shape effect(SSE) of components has become a critical issue for mechanical properties, application reliability, and processing. In this study, the creep rupture life(CRL) of components with different wall thicknesses and positions in a combustion chamber casing simulator made of K439B superalloy was investigated. The intrinsic mechanisms of the SSE were explored from the dendrite structure, volume fraction and size of the γ' phase, and element segregation, etc. It is shown that this casting exhibits a strong SSE of creep rupture life, characterized by a significant difference in the CRL values up to 60% with the variation of wall thickness and position in the casing. In terms of casting technology, the influence of SSE on CRL is actually determined by the cooling rate. The SSE on the creep rupture life originates from the dendrite structure(such as the secondary dendrite arm spacing), volume fraction size of the γ' phase in the dendrite trunk, and elements segregation rate. This work may have implications for the design and application of engineering components with large sizes and complex structures.

Flow characteristics and bubble statistics during the fragmentation process of the ingested main cavity in plunging breaking waves

Plunging breaking waves play an important role in the exchange of heat,momentum,and mass between the atmosphere and *** this paper,a series of direct numerical simulations is conducted to investigate the fragmentation process of the ingested main cavity in plunging breaking *** two-phase Navier-Stokes equations are solved using the finite-volume method based on adaptive refinement *** free surface is captured using a geometrical volume of fluid *** 2-D,3-D simulations are *** flow fields at different stages of wave breaking are presented and quantitative analysis for bubbles is *** 2-D instantaneous vorticity field and local velocity field are visualized to discuss the general flow characteristics during the fragmentation *** a 2-D parametric study is conducted to investigate the differences in the flow characteristics during the fragmentation process under different wave parameters including initial wave steepness(ε),Bond number(Bo),and Reynolds number(Re).3-D vortex structures are shown to further investigate the mechanisms behind the differences in the flow *** bubble size distributions under two different initial wave steepness are also discussed with their relationship to the fragmentation process of the ingested main *** research offers a significant understanding of the distinct procedures and fundamental dynamics involved in wave breaking,enhancing our comprehension of this intricate event.

Effect of Al_2O_3 Buffer Layers on the Properties of Sputtered VO_2 Thin Films

VO_2 thin films were grown on silicon substrates using Al_2O_3 thin films as the buffer layers. Compared with direct deposition on silicon, VO_2 thin films deposited on Al_2O_3 buffer layers experience a significant improvement in their microstructures and physical properties. By optimizing the growth conditions, the resistance of VO_2 thin films can change by four orders of magnitude with a reduced thermal hysteresis of 4 °C at the phase transition temperature. The electrically driven phase transformation was measured in Pt/Si/Al_2O_3/VO_2/Au heterostructures. The introduction of a buffer layer reduces the leakage current and Joule heating during electrically driven phase transitions. The C–V measurement result indicates that the phase transformation of VO_2 thin films can be induced by an electrical field.
