Brain protective effect of dexmedetomidine vs propofol for sedation during prolonged mechanical ventilation in non-brain injured patients

BACKGROUND dexmedetomidine and propofol are two sedatives used for long-term *** remains unclear whether dexmedetomidine provides superior cerebral protection for patients undergoing long-term mechanical *** To compare the neuroprotective effects of dexmedetomidine and propofol for sedation during prolonged mechanical ventilation in patients without brain *** Patients who underwent mechanical ventilation for>72 h were randomly assigned to receive sedation with dexmedetomidine or *** Richmond Agitation and Sedation Scale(RASS)was used to evaluate sedation effects,with a target range of-3 to *** primary outcomes were serum levels of S100-βand neuron-specific enolase(NSE)every 24 *** secondary outcomes were remifentanil dosage,the proportion of patients requiring rescue sedation,and the time and frequency of RASS scores within the target *** A total of 52 and 63 patients were allocated to the dexmedetomidine group and propofol group,*** data were comparable between *** significant differences were identified between groups within the median duration of study drug infusion[52.0(IQR:36.0-73.5)h vs 53.0(IQR:37.0-72.0)h,P=0.958],the median dose of remifentanil[4.5(IQR:4.0-5.0)μg/kg/h vs 4.6(IQR:4.0-5.0)μg/kg/h,P=0.395],the median percentage of time in the target RASS range without rescue sedation[85.6%(IQR:65.8%-96.6%)vs 86.7%(IQR:72.3%-95.3),P=0.592],and the median frequency within the target RASS range without rescue sedation[72.2%(60.8%-91.7%)vs 73.3%(60.0%-100.0%),P=0.880].The proportion of patients in the dexmedetomidine group who required rescue sedation was higher than in the propofol group with statistical significance(69.2%vs 50.8%,P=0.045).Serum S100-βand NSE levels in the propofol group were higher than in the dexmedetomidine group with statistical significance during the first six and five days of mechanical ventilation,respectively(all Pdexmedetomidine demonstrated

The extremely high structural tolerance of ceria to oxygen vacancies(Ov)has made it a desirable catalytic material for the hydrocarbon oxidation to chemicals and pharmaceuticals and the reduction of gaseous *** is proposed that the formation and diffusion of Ov originate from its outstanding reduction ***,the formation and diffusion process of Ov over the surface of ceria at the atomic level is still ***,the structural and valence evolution of CeO_(2)(111)surfaces in reductive,oxidative and vacuum environments from room temperature up to 700℃was studied with in situ aberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscopy(ETEM)*** is found to form under a high vacuum at elevated temperatures;however,the surface can recover to the initial state through the adsorption of oxygen atoms in an oxygen-contained ***,in hydrogen environment,the step-CeO_(2)(111)surface is not stable at elevated temperatures;thus,the steps tend to be eliminated with increasing *** with first-principles density function calculations(DFT),it is proposed that O-terminated surfaces would develop in a hypoxic environment due to the dynamic diffusion of Ov from the outer surface to the ***,in a reductive environment,H2 facilitates the formation and diffusion of Ov while Ce-terminated surfaces *** results reveal dynamic atomic-scale interplay between the nanoceria surface and gas,thereby providing fundamental insights into the Ov-dependent reaction of nano-CeO_(2) during catalytic processes.

Media power,the impact that media have on public opinion and perspectives,plays a significant role in maintaining internal stability,exerting external influence,and shaping international dynamics for nations/***,prior research has primarily concentrated on news content and reporting time,resulting in limitations in evaluating media *** more accurately assess media power,we use news content,news reporting time,and news emotion simultaneously to explore the emotional contagion between *** use emotional contagion to measure the mutual influence between media and regard the media with greater impact as having stronger media *** propose a framework called Measuring Media Power via Emotional Contagion(MMPEC)to capture emotional contagion among media,enabling a more accurate assessment of media power at the media and national/regional *** also interprets experimental results through correlation and causality analyses,ensuring *** analyses confirm the higher accuracy of MMPEC compared to other baseline models,as demonstrated in the context of COVID-19-related news,yielding compelling and interesting insights.

BSTFNet:An Encrypted Malicious Traffic Classification Method Integrating Global Semantic and Spatiotemporal Features

While encryption technology safeguards the security of network communications,malicious traffic also uses encryption protocols to obscure its malicious *** address the issues of traditional machine learning methods relying on expert experience and the insufficient representation capabilities of existing deep learning methods for encrypted malicious traffic,we propose an encrypted malicious traffic classification method that integrates global semantic features with local spatiotemporal features,called BERT-based Spatio-Temporal Features Network(BSTFNet).At the packet-level granularity,the model captures the global semantic features of packets through the attention mechanism of the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers(BERT)*** the byte-level granularity,we initially employ the Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit(BiGRU)model to extract temporal features from bytes,followed by the utilization of the Text Convolutional Neural Network(TextCNN)model with multi-sized convolution kernels to extract local multi-receptive field spatial *** fusion of features from both granularities serves as the ultimate multidimensional representation of malicious *** approach achieves accuracy and F1-score of 99.39%and 99.40%,respectively,on the publicly available USTC-TFC2016 dataset,and effectively reduces sample confusion within the Neris and Virut *** experimental results demonstrate that our method has outstanding representation and classification capabilities for encrypted malicious traffic.

A Gaussian Noise-Based Algorithm for Enhancing Backdoor Attacks

deep Neural Networks(DNNs)are integral to various aspects of modern life,enhancing work ***-less,their susceptibility to diverse attack methods,including backdoor attacks,raises security *** aim to investigate backdoor attack methods for image categorization tasks,to promote the development of DNN towards higher *** on backdoor attacks currently faces significant challenges due to the distinct and abnormal data patterns of malicious samples,and the meticulous data screening by developers,hindering practical attack *** overcome these challenges,this study proposes a Gaussian Noise-Targeted Universal Adversarial Perturbation(GN-TUAP)*** approach restricts the direction of perturbations and normalizes abnormal pixel values,ensuring that perturbations progress as much as possible in a direction perpendicular to the decision hyperplane in linear *** limits anomalies within the perturbations improves their visual stealthiness,and makes them more challenging for defense methods to *** verify the effectiveness,stealthiness,and robustness of GN-TUAP,we proposed a comprehensive threat *** on this model,extensive experiments were conducted using the CIFAR-10,CIFAR-100,GTSRB,and MNIST datasets,comparing our method with existing state-of-the-art attack *** also tested our perturbation triggers using various defense methods and further experimented on the robustness of the triggers against noise filtering *** experimental outcomes demonstrate that backdoor attacks leveraging perturbations generated via our algorithm exhibit cross-model attack effectiveness and superior ***,they possess robust anti-detection capabilities and maintain commendable performance when subjected to noise-filtering methods.

Mars exploration——In situ K-Ar dating of jarosite

To accurately determine the chronological framework of climatic variations recorded by various Martian terrains, the absolute ages of Martian events and cratering rate need to be constrained by either in situ dating or returned samples. In situ K-Ar dating is currently a more plausible dating technique as compared with sample return. Jarosite(KFe_(3)[SO_(4)]_(2)[OH]_(6)) is the only confirmed K sulfate mineral that is widely present on Mars, as indicated by in situ detection, orbital remote sensing, and meteorite studies. Jarosite can be used for precise K-Ar and (40)Ar/(39)Ar dating. The preservation of jarosite on Mars provides information about the nature and duration of aqueous processes on the Martian surface. Different ages of Martian jarosite represent the key to constraining the transition from Martian surface water activity to arid climatic conditions. This paper summarizes recent advances in our knowledge of the spatial distribution of Martian jarosite, its mineralogical properties and stability on Mars, the Ar diffusion kinetics of jarosite, and the current status of in situ K-Ar dating. Moreover, we examine the key scientific issues to be addressed for in situ K-Ar dating of jarosite and Martian sample return missions, and discuss future research directions.

In this paper,we study the semilinear subelliptic equation{−△Xu=f(x,u)+g(x,u)inΩ,u=0 on∂Ω,where△X=−∑m i=1 Xi∗Xi is the self-adjoint Hormander operator associated with the vector fields X=(X_(1),X_(2),...,X_(m))satisfying the Hormander's condition,f(x,u)∈C(Ω×R),g(x,u)is a Carathéodory function onΩ×R,andΩis an open bounded domain in R~n with smooth *** the perturbation from the symmetry method with the approaches involving the eigenvalue estimate and the Morse index in estimating the minimax values,we obtain two kinds of existence results for multiple weak solutions to the problem ***,we discuss the difference between the eigenvalue estimate approach and the Morse index approach in degenerate *** with the classical elliptic cases,both approaches here have their own strengths in the degenerate *** new phenomenon implies that the results in general degenerate cases would be quite different from the situations in classical elliptic cases.

Space-borne gravitational wave(GW)detectors can detect the merger of massive black *** early warning and localization of GW events before merging can be used to inform electromagnetic telescopes and conduct multimessenger ***,this requires real-time data transmission and analysis *** geocentric orbit of the space-borne GW detector Tian Qin makes it possible to conduct real-time data *** this study,we develop a search and localization pipeline for massive black hole binaries(MBHBs)with Tian Qin under both regular and real-time data transmission *** demonstrate that,with real-time data transmission,MBHBs can be accurately localized on the *** the approaching merger,each analysis can be finished in only 40 *** an MBHB system at a distance of 1 Gpc,if we receive data every hour,then we can pinpoint its location to within less than 1 deg^(2)on the final day before the merger.

Research on casing deformation prevention technology based on cementing slurry system optimization

The casing deformation prevention technology based on the optimization of cement slurry is proposed to reduce the casing deformation of shale oil and gas wells during hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, the fracture mechanism of hollow particles in cement sheath was firstly analyzed by discrete element method, and the effect of hollow particles in cement on casing deformation was investigated by laboratory experiment method. Finally, field test was carried out to verify the improvement effect of the casing deformation based on cement slurry modification. The results show that the formation displacement can be absorbed effectively by hollow particles inside the cement transferring the excessive deformation away from casing. The particles in the uncemented state provide deformation space during formation slipping. The casing with diameter of 139.7 mm could be passed through by bridge plug with the diameter of 99 mm when the mass ratio of particle/cement reaches 1:4. According to the field test feedback, the method based on optimization of cement slurry can effectively reduce the risk of casing deformation, and the recommended range of hollow microbeads content in the cement slurry is between 15% and 25%.
