Background Bioprosthetic heart valves derived from glutaraldehyde （Glut）-fixed xenografts have been widely used to replace diseased cardiac valves. However, calcification and degeneration are common following their implantation. Inflammation is closely associated with calcification of Glut-fixed xenografts via macrophage infiltration. Tannic acid （TA） possesses anti-inflammatory effects. This study was designed to investigate the anti-calcification of TA treatment on the Glut-fixed bovine pericardium （BP） in a rat subdermal model. Methods Fresh BP was divided into two groups （10 in each group） and separately subjected to different fixation procedures as follows：（1） Glut group： fixation with 0.6% Glut alone; （2） Glut/TA group： fixation with 0.6% Glut and subsequent 0.3% TA. Then the BP samples were subdermally implanted in juvenile male Sprague-Dawley rats and explanted 21 days after implantation. Each explanted BP sample was divided into three parts for calcium content analysis von Kossa＇s staining and immunohistochemical staining, and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction study. Results The data from quantitative calcium analysis and von Kossa＇s staining showed that Glut-fixed BP developed significantly more calcification than Glut/TA-fixed BP （（90.3＋32.5） mg/g dry weight vs （6.4_＋1.3） mg/g dry tissue, P 〈0.01）. Immunostaining demonstrated lower matrix metalloproteinase-9 and tenascin-C expression as well as macrophage infiltration into Glut/TA-fixed BP than in its Glut-fixed counterpart （P 〈0.01 for all）. Additionally, the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction study showed that higher levels of expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and tenascin-C mRNA occurred within Glut-fixed BP than within the Glut/TA-fixed ones （P 〈0.01 for all）. Conclusion TA exerts excellent anti-calcification effects on Glut-fixed BP via inhibiting macrophage infiltration and expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and tenascin-C.

Predictive modeling of photocatalytic NO removal is highly desirable for efficient air pollution ***,great challenges remain in precisely predicting photocatalytic performance and understanding interactions of diverse features in the catalytic ***,a dataset of g-C_(3) N_(4)-based catalysts with 255 data points was collected from peer-reviewed publications and machine learning(ML)model was proposed to predict the NO removal *** result shows that the Gradient Boosting decision Tree(GBDT)demonstrated the greatest prediction accuracy with R 2 of 0.999 and 0.907 on the training and test data,*** SHAP value and feature importance analysis revealed that the empirical categories for NO removal rate,in the order of importance,were catalyst characteristics>reaction process>preparation ***,the partial dependence plots broke the ML black box to further quantify the marginal contributions of the input features(e.g.,doping ratio,flow rate,and pore volume)to the model output *** ML approach presents a pure data-driven,interpretable framework,which provides new insights into the influence of catalyst characteristics,reaction process,and preparation conditions on NO removal.

Coal gasification fine slag(CGFS)is a solid waste containing residual carbon and ash generated during the coal gasification process,and the separation of the two components is the essential way to realize its environmental pollution reduction and resource value *** flotation is the preferred method for separating CGFS,but there is a barrier of low carbon recovery in this process due to the extensive adsorption of collector by the well-developed pores on residual *** this study,a sufficiently simple yet innovative collector,a mixture of hydrophobic powder and diesel,was proposed in an attempt to break the *** experiments with common diesel and this novel collector were performed respectively,and FTIR,XPS,and SEM-EDX were employed to analyze the collector action *** results revealed that the novel collector could significantly improve the residual carbon recovery;test results demonstrated that the novel collector could increase the hydrophobic functional group content on the fine slag surface,and the hydrophobic powders in this novel collector mainly appeared at the pore openings of the flotation *** essence of the mechanism is that the hydrophobic powders play a dual role of blocking pores and providing adsorption sites,thus facilitating the spreading of diesel on the carbon surface and promoting its *** study can provide creative ideas for the efficient disposal of coal gasification waste.

Influence of topography on the fine structures of stratospheric gravity waves:An analysis using COSMIC-2 temperature data

We derive the potential energy of gravity waves(GWs)in the upper troposphere and stratosphere at 45°S-45°N from december 2019 to November 2022 by using temperature profiles retrieved from the Constellation Observing System for Meteorology,Ionosphere,and Climate-2(COSMIC-2)*** to the dense sampling of COSMIC-2,in addition to the strong peaks of gravity wave potential energy(GWPE)above the Andes and Tibetan Plateau,we found weak peaks above the Rocky,Atlas,Caucasus,and Tianshan *** land-sea contrast is responsible for the longitudinal variations of the GWPE in the lower and upper *** 40°N/S,the peaks were mainly above the topographic regions during the *** 20°N/S,the peaks were a slight distance away from the topographic regions and might be the combined effect of nontopographic GWs and mountain *** the Equator,the peaks were mainly above the regions with the lowest sea level altitude and may have resulted from *** results indicate that even above the local regions with lower sea level altitudes compared with the Andes and Tibetan Plateau,the GWPE also exhibits fine structures in geographic *** found that dissipation layers above the tropopause jet provide the body force to generate secondary waves in the upper stratosphere,especially during the winter months of each hemisphere and at latitudes of greater than 20°N/S.

BACKGROUND Umbilical artery thrombosis(UAT)is extremely uncommon and leads to adverse perinatal *** of blood in pregnant women is suspected to be an important risk for *** is an effective way to detect *** mother can monitor her own fetal health using ultrasound,which enables her to take preventative action in case of *** To investigate ultrasonic blood signal after UAT in the umbilical artery,and evaluate the relationship between hypercoagulability and *** We described a case of a newly formed UAT with markedly altered ultrasonic indices of umbilical artery blood flow,and retrospectively studied it with 18 UAT patients confirmed by histopathology from October 2019 and March 2023 in Xiamen Women and Children's ***’information was collected from medical archives,including maternal clinical data,neonatal outcomes,pathological findings and ultrasonic indices of umbilical artery blood flow,such as systolic-diastolic duration ratio(S/D),resistance index(RI),pulsatility index(PI)and peak systolic velocity(PSV).Ultrasound and coagulation indices were analyzed with matched samples t-test and Wilcoxon rank sum test using the statistical packages in R(version 4.2.1)including car(version 3.1-0)and stats(version 4.2.1),and visualized by ggplot2 package(version 3.3.6).RESULTS A patient with normal findings in second and third-trimester routine ultrasound scan developed UAT with severe changes in ultrasonic indices of umbilical artery blood flow(within 2.5th of reference ranges)in a short period of *** analysis of umbilical artery blood flow ultrasound indices for 19 patients with UAT showed that the decrease in S/D,RI,and PI and increase of PSV during the disease process was greater than that of *** 18 patients delivered in our hospital showed characteristic manifestations of UAT on histological examination after delivery,most of which(16/18)showed umbilical cord abnormalities,with 1

In a crowd density estimation dataset,the annotation of crowd locations is an extremely laborious task,and they are not taken into the evaluation *** this paper,we aim to reduce the annotation cost of crowd datasets,and propose a crowd density estimation method based on weakly-supervised learning,in the absence of crowd position supervision information,which directly reduces the number of crowds by using the number of pedestrians in the image as the supervised *** this purpose,we design a new training method,which exploits the correlation between global and local image features by incremental learning to train the ***,we design a parent-child network(PC-Net)focusing on the global and local image respectively,and propose a linear feature calibration structure to train the PC-Net simultaneously,and the child network learns feature transfer factors and feature bias weights,and uses the transfer factors and bias weights to linearly feature calibrate the features extracted from the Parent network,to improve the convergence of the network by using local features hidden in the crowd *** addition,we use the pyramid vision transformer as the backbone of the PC-Net to extract crowd features at different levels,and design a global-local feature loss function(L2).We combine it with a crowd counting loss(LC)to enhance the sensitivity of the network to crowd features during the training process,which effectively improves the accuracy of crowd density *** experimental results show that the PC-Net significantly reduces the gap between fullysupervised and weakly-supervised crowd density estimation,and outperforms the comparison methods on five datasets of Shanghai Tech Part A,ShanghaiTech Part B,UCF_CC_50,UCF_QNRF and JHU-CROWD++.

Branched alkanes are ubiquitous in the troposphere and play an important role in the chemical *** this work,the rate constants and products for the reaction of Cl atoms with 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane were measured at room temperature(298±0.2K)and atmospheric pressure using a conventional relative rate *** rate constants of 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane in units of cm~3/(mol·sec)are(3.09±0.31)×10^(-10)and(3.67±0.40)×10^(-10),***,the corresponding atmospheric lifetime of the studied branched alkanes with Cl was 6.92-89.90 hours and 5.82-75.69 hours,*** estimated atmospheric lifetimes indicated that the reaction with Cl atoms could be the most important atmospheric degradation pathway for 3-methylhexane *** gas-phase products of the reactions were identified and quantified,and particle-phase products were also *** atmosphere oxidation mechanism of Cl atoms with 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane is *** SOA yields of 3-methylhexane and 2-methylheptane from the reaction of Cl atoms were determined to be7.96%±0.89%and 13.35%±1.50%***,the results reveal that the primary loss process of branched alkanes is the reaction with Cl atoms,which impacts its degradation on a regional scale.
