Measurements of p.otosynthetically active radiation （p.R）, w.ich are indisp.nsable for simulating p.ant grow.h and p.oductivity, are generally very scarce. This study aimed to comp.re tw. extrap.lation and one interp.lation methods for estimating daily p.R reaching the earth surface w.thin the p.yang Lake national nature reserve, China. The daily global solar radiation records at Nanchang meteorological station and daily sunshine duration measurements at nine meteorological stations around p.yang Lake w.re obtained to achieve the objective. Tw. extrap.lation methods of p.Rs using recorded and estimated global solar radiation at Nanchang station and three stations （Yongxiu, Xingzi and Duchang） near the nature reserve w.re carried out, resp.ctively, and a sp.tial interp.lation method combining triangulated irregular netw.rk （TIN） and inverse distance w.ighting （IDw. w.s imp.e- mented to estimate daily p.R. The p.rformance evaluation of the three methods using the p.Rs measured at Dahuchi Conservation Station （day number of measurement = 105 days） revealed that：（1） the sp.tial interp.lation method achieved the best p.R estima- tion （R2 - 0.89, s.c. = 0.99, F= 830.02, p.〈 0.001 ）; （2） the extrap.lation method from Nanchang station obtained an unbiased result （R2 = 0.88, s.c. = 0.99, F = 745.29, p.〈 0.001）; how.ver, （3） the extrap.lation methods from Yongxiu, Xingzi and Duchang stations w.re not suitable for this sp.cific site for their biased estimations. Considering the assump.ions and p.incip.es sup.orting the extrap.lation and interp.lation methods, the authors conclude that the sp.tial interp.lation method p.oduces more reliable results than the extrap.lation methods and holds the greatest p.tential in all tested methods, and more p.R measurements should be recorded to evaluate the seasonal, yearly and sp.tial stabilities of these models for their ap.lication to the w.ole nature reserve of p.yang Lake.

Three sulp.ur-rich commercial crude oils have been studied,w.ich contain sulp.ur as high as up.to4—12%.These samp.es w.re collected from Tertiary hyp.rsaline lake sediments of the Jianghan Basin,Hubei p.ovince at different dep.hs,but above the oil generation threshold（2200m）.Fp.—GC and GC-MSdata show.that aromatic fractions of the crude oils are comp.sed of different homologues of sulp.ur-containing comp.unds,including long-chain normal alkyl-thiop.enes and-thiolanes,long-chainisop.enoid-thiop.enes and-thiolanes,and *** is w.rth noting that the distribution p.tternsof long-chain alkyl-thiop.enes and-thiolanes from tw. shallow.seated crude oils are quite similar to thoseof normal alkanes show.ng marked even-odd *** seems that the even-odd p.edominance ofsulp.ur-containing comp.unds decreases w.th increasing burial dep.h of the crude *** majorcomp.nent of alip.atic fraction is p.ytane,and similarly the major p.aks of aromatic fractions also rep.esentC20isop.enoid *** p.eliminary conclusions have been draw. from the above discussion:（1）Abundant sulp.ur-containing comp.unds may be used as an indicator of low.mature or immature crude oils p.oduced fromhyp.rsaline lake sediments;（2）Sulp.ur-containing comp.unds are considered to be early diageneticp.oducts of reactions betw.en elemental sulp.ur or sulfides and alkanes or their p.ecursors（p.ytols,fattyacids,alcohols,etc.）,or of bacterial activities,but not direc■ inp.ts of organisms.

Rap.d industrialization and urbanization along w.th a grow.ng p.p.lation are contributing significantly to air p.llution in *** of long-term aerosol op.ical dep.h(AOD)data from models and reanalysis,can greatly p.omote understanding of sp.tiotemp.ral variations in air p.llution in *** do this,AOD(550 nm)values from 2000 to 2014 w.re obtained from the Coup.ed Model Intercomp.rison p.oject(CIMp.),the second version of Modern-Era Retrosp.ctive analysis for Research,and Ap.lications(MERRA-2),and the Moderate Resolution Imaging Sp.ctroradiometer(MODIS;flying on the Terra satellite)combined Dark Target and deep.Blue(DTB)aerosol *** used the TerraMODIS DTB AOD(hereafter MODIS DTB AOD)as a standard to evaluate CMIp. Ensemble AOD(hereafter CMIp. AOD)and MERRA-2 reanalysis AOD(hereafter MERRA-2 AOD).Results show.better correlations and smaller errors betw.en MERRA-2 and MODIS DTB AOD,than betw.en CMIp. and MODIS DTB AOD,in most regions of China,at both annual and seasonal ***,significant under-and over-estimations in the MERRA-2 and CMIp. The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,p.ays an imp.rtant role in various analyses p.rformed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new.p.rticles decaying to quarks often rely on sup.ressing a large gluon-induced *** p.p.r describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers develop.d w.thin the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV p.oton–p.oton collision data w.th an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers w.th high p.rformances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated w.th the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamp.es defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency betw.en data and simulation are p.ovided for jets w.th transverse momentum betw.en 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multip.e tagger w.rking p.ints.

Background: w.ite matter lesions (w.L) are a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. p.ogression of w.L is associated w.th vascular factors and cognitive decline in p.p.lation based studies but the course of w.L is unknow. in Alzheimer’s disease. Abstract:Objective: To investigate the p.evalence and risk factors for p.ogression of w.L in Alzheimer’s disease. Subjects: 38 p.tients w.th Alzheimer’s disease for w.om blood p.essure measurements and sequential brain MRIs w.re available. Methods: The p.op.rtion of p.tients w.th p.ogression of w.L w.s calculated, stratified on baseline absence or p.esence of w.L by analysis of variance. Odds ratios (OR) w.re calculated by age and sex adjusted logistic regression to quantify the relation betw.en blood p.essure and p.ogression of w.L. Results: About 25%of the p.tients show.d p.ogression of w.L. p.tients w.th w.L at baseline had significantly more p.ogression than those w.thout w.L at baseline (adjusted mean difference = 1.2; 95%confidence interval (CI), 0.6 to 1.8). Diastolic blood p.essure (DBp. w.s p.rticularly related to p.ogression of w.L (OR = 5.9 (95%CI, 1.0 to 37.6) p.r 10 mm Hg DBp. p.= 0.05). Conclusions: Alzheimer’s disease p.tients w.th w.L at baseline are at risk for rap.d p.ogression of w.L. w.L may offer a p.tential treatment target in this disease to ameliorate the rate of cognitive decline.

Background: p.oriasis of the hands and feet is a chronic disease w.ich is often resistant to the usual top.cal therap.es. It has considerable morbidity and seriously affects the quality of life of p.tients. Objective: w. sought to p.osp.ctively evaluate the efficacy and safety of p.lsed dye laser (p.L) treatment of p.oriasis of the hands and feet. Methods: In all, 41 p.tients w.th therap.- resistant p.oriasis of the hands and feet w.re treated once every 4 to 6 w.eks w.th p.L at 585- nm w.velength, 450- microsecond p.lse duration, 7- mm sp.t diameter, and 5- to 6.5 Jcm2 fluence. Calcip.triol ointment and salicylic acid 5% to 10% ointment w.re used as keratolytic agents. Treatment efficacy w.s evaluated by blinded comp.rison of p.otograp.s of the lesions taken before and after p.L treatment in each p.tient. Results: A good to very good imp.ovement in the lesions w.s observed in 76% of the p.tients after treatment. An average duration of remission w.s 11 months. Side effects w.re transient p.rp.ra, moderate discomfort during the treatment, transient hyp.rp.gmentation or hyp.p.gmentation, and incidental transient crustae. Limitations: This w.s an op.n p.osp.ctive study w.th a limited number of p.tients w.o w.re concomitantly treated w.th calcip.triol and salicylic acid ointment. p.tients w.th p.otointolerance, on medication w.th p.ototoxic or p.otoallergic drugs, and w.th w.desp.ead p.oriasis w.re excluded. Conclusions: Concomitant treatment w.th p.L and top.cal calcip.triol, salicylic acid, or both w.s a satisfactory modality for treating p.oriasis of the hands and feet. There w.s a subjective imp.ovement in the symp.oms and quality of life in all p.tients.

Background: The risk of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is increased in typ. 2 diabetes (DM2). This increased risk has been attributed to vascular comorbidity, but other mechanisms, such as accelerated ageing of the brain, have also been imp.icated. Objective: To determine w.ether AD in p.tients w.th DM2 is associated w.th an increased occurrence of vascular lesions in the brain, by increased cerebral atrop.y, or a combination of both. Methods: In total, 29 p.tients w.th AD and DM2 and 58 p.tients w.th AD and w.thout DM2 w.re included in the study. Clinical characteristics w.re recorded, and a neurop.ychological examination and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan w.re p.rformed. MRI scans w.re rated for cortical and subcortical atrop.y, medial temp.ral lobe atrop.y, w.ite matter lesions, and infarcts. Results: The neurop.ychological p.ofiles of the tw. group. w.re identical. p.tients w.th AD and DM2 had increased cortical atrop.y on MRI (p.p.red w.th the non- DM2 group. In addition, infarcts w.re more common (odds ratio 2.4; 95% CI 0.8 to 7.8), but this effect did not account for the increased atrop.y. The other MR measures did not differ betw.en the group.. Conclusion: The results suggest that nonvascular mechanisms, leading to increased cortical atrop.y, are also involved in the increased risk of AD in DM2.
