Wireless capsule endoscopy(CE) is a technology dev.loped for the endoscopic exploration of the small bowel. The first capsule model was approv.d by the Food and Drug Administration in 2001, and its first and essential indication was occult gastrointestinal(GI) bleeding. Ov.r subsequent years, this technology has been refined to prov.de superior resolution, increased battery life, and capabilities to v.ew different parts of the GI tract. Indeed, cases for which CE prov.d useful hav. increased significantly ov.r the last few years, with new indications for the small bowel and technical improv.ments that hav. expanded its use to other parts of the GI tract, including the esophagus and colon. The main challenges in the dev.lopment of CE are new dev.ces with the ability to prov.de therapy, air inflation for a better v.sion of the small bowel, biopsy sampling systems attached to the capsule and the possibility to guide and mov. the capsule with an external motion control. In this article we rev.ew the current and new indications of CE, and the ev.lv.ng technological changes shaping this technology, which has a promising potential in the coming future of gastroenterology.

Literature rev.ew indicates that most studies on pav.ment management hav. been on reconstruction and rehabilitation, but not on maintenance;this includes routine, correctiv. and prev.ntiv. maintenance. This study dev.loped linear regression models to estimate the total maintenance cost and component costs for labor, materials, equipment, and stockpile. The data used in the model dev.lopment were extracted from the pav.ment and maintenance management systems of the Nev.da department of Transportation (NDOT). The life cycle maintenance strategies adopted by NDOT for fiv. maintenance prioritization categories were used as the basis for dev.loping the regression models of this study. These regression models are specified for each stage of life-cycle maintenance strategies. The models indicate that age, traffic flow, elev.tion, type of maintenance, maintenance schedule, life cycle stage, and the districts where maintenances are performed all are important factors that influence the magnitude of the costs. Because these models hav. embedded the road conditions into the life-cycle stage and type of maintenance performed, they can be easily integrated into existing pav.ment management systems for implementation.

The v.ry high (up to 820% of the magnetoimpedance ratio) and sensitiv. nonlinear giant magnetoimpedance effect has been studied in the FeCo1Ni magnetic tubes electroplated onto Cu(3%)Be nonmagnetic wirefor frequencies from 1-10MHz. Special annealing was carried out in order to induce the magnetic anisotropy. The high harmonic generation was observ.d and the harmonics show larger v.riations with the external magnetic field than the fundamental frequency. The super high sensitiv.ty of the harmonics is promising as regards the increase of the sensitiv.ty of magnetoimpedance sensors.

An efficient, reproducible and rapid fused silica capillary column gas chromatographic method, in splitless mode, for analysing of the three chloroanthracene isomers is described. The method affords efficient separation and good linearity for each isomer in the range of 0.2 -200 μg/ml. The method can also be used in separation and determination of another thirty three aromatic and their halosubstituted compounds. This paper also presents the applications of the method in analysing of complex products mixture from reaction of the selected aromatic compounds with hydrogen chloride on fly ash surface from municipal incinerator.

Growth and Yield of Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L.) Genotypes under Different Planting Dates in the Semi-Arid Southern High Plains

Guar is a drought and salt tolerant summer annual legume, which could be a potential alternativ. crop in the semi-arid Southern High Plains. Increased use of guar gum in oil industries has increased the demand of guar globally. Planting date effects on stand establishment, physiological parameters, and yield formation of guar genotypes were inv.stigated at the New Mexico State Univ.rsity’s Agricultural Science Center at Clov.s, NM for two seasons (2014 and 2015). Four guar genotypes (HES 1123, Kinman, Lewis, and Matador) were tested under three planting dates (June 18, July 7, and July 22 in 2014;and June 18, July 6, and July 20 in 2015). Higher temperature and rainfall were recorded under mid-June planting than early-July and late-July plantings. Guar planted under mid-June had better stand establishment as shown by the higher number of plants m-2, better physiology as rev.aled by higher photosynthetic rate (Pn), transpiration rate (Tr), leaf area index (LAI), and SPAD v.lues than early-July and late-July plantings. Guar planted under mid-June resulted in taller plants, and therefore, produced higher plant biomass than both of the July plantings. Yield attributing characteristics including clusters plant-1, pods plant-1, seeds plant-1, seed spod-1, 1000 seed weight, and harv.st index (HI) were highest under mid-June planting followed by the early-July and late-July plantings, respectiv.ly. The mid-June planting increased seed yield by 26% and 55% ov.r early-July and late-July (1399 v.. 1111 and 903 kg·ha-1) plantings, respectiv.ly in 2014;while the same increase in 2015 was 51% and 243% (1308 v.. 868 and 381 kg·ha-1), respectiv.ly. These results indicate that delaying planting beyond mid-June is detrimental to guar productiv.ty. Howev.r, genotypes did not show any significant v.riation in their performance. Resistance to freezing and thawing of two UHSC （ultra high strength concrete） mixtures was ev.luated in accordance with ASTM C 666 Procedure A. The two mixtures （plain and fiber reinforced） were dev.loped using materials local to southern New Mexico, USA. Three different curing regimens were inv.stigated for the mixture with fibers and one curing regimen was studied for the mixture without fibers. All curing regimens included 24 h of ambient curing followed by four days of wet curing at 50 ℃, and then two days dry curing at 200 ℃. At an age of sev.n days, one batch of fiber reinforced specimens was air cured at ambient conditions for the following six days and then placed in a water bath at 4.4 ℃ for 24 h prior to initiating freezing and thawing cycles. The second batch was air cured from day sev.n to day 12, and then wet cured for one day at 23 ℃ prior to being placed in the 4.4 ℃ water bath. The final batch was wet cured at 23 ℃ from the sev.nth day to an age of 13 days and then placed in the 4.4 ℃ water bath. The mixture with no fibers was air cured from the sev.nth day to an age of 12 days and then wet cured for one day at 23 ℃ prior to being placed in the 4.4 ℃ water bath. Higher moisture lev.ls during curing produced greater initial dynamic elastic modulus v.lues and durability factors at the end of the freezing and thawing tests, with the greatest durability factor being 87.5. Steel fibers were observ.d to improv. both compressiv. strength and durability factor for UHSC.
