AIM To investigate the functional effects of abnormal esophagogastric(EGJ) measurements in asymptomatic healthy volunteers over eighty years of age. METHODS Data from 30 young controls(11 M, mean age 37 ± 11 years) and 15 aged subjects(9 M, 85 ± 4 years) were compared for novel metrics of EGJ-function: EGJcontractile integral(EGJ-cI), "total" EGJ-cI and bolus flow time(BFT). Data were acquired using a 3.2 mm, 25 pressure(1 cm spacing) and 12 impedance segment(2 cm) solid-state catheter(Unisensor and MMS SolarGI system) across the EGJ. Five swallows each of 5 m L liquid(L) and viscous(V) bolus were analyzed. Mean values were compared using Student's t test for normally distributed data or Mann Whitney U-test when non-normally distributed. A P value considered *** EGJ-cI at rest was similar for older subjects compared to controls. "Total" EGJ-cI, measured during liquid swallowing, was increased in older individuals when compared to young controls(O 39 ± 7 mm *** vs c 18 ± 3 mm ***; P = 0.006). For both liquid and viscous bolus consistencies, IRP4 was increased(L: 11.9 ± 2.3 mm Hg vs 5.9 ± 1.0 mm Hg, P = 0.019 and V: 14.3 ± 2.4 mm Hg vs 7.3 ± 0.8 mm Hg; P = 0.02) and BFT was reduced(L: 1.7 ± 0.3 s vs 3.8 ± 0.2 s and V: 1.9 ± 0.3 s vs 3.8 ± 0.2 s; P der subjects, when compared to young. A matrix of bolus flow and presence above the EGJ indicated reductions in bolus flow at the EGJ occurred due to both impaired bolus transport through the esophageal body(i.e., the bolus never reached the EGJ) and increased flow resistance at the EGJ(i.e., the bolus retained just above the EGJ).cONcLUSION Bolus flow through the EGJ is reduced in asymptomatic older individuals. Both ineffective esophageal bolus transport and increased EGJ resistance contribute to impaired bolus flow.

Many fungi are pathogenic on plants and cause significant damage in agriculture and *** are also part of the natural ecosystem and may play a role in regulating plant numbers/*** identification and analysis of plant pathogenic fungi,while important,is often hampered by the scarcity of discriminatory taxonomic.c.aracters and the endophytic or inconspicuous nature of these ***(DNA sequence)data for plant pathogenic fungi have emerged as key information for diagnostic and classification studies,although hampered in part by non-standard laboratory practices and analytical *** facilitate current and future research,this study provides phylogenetic synopses for 25 groups of plant pathogenic fungi in the Ascomycota,Basidiomycota,Mucormycotina(Fungi),and Oomycota,using recent molecular data,up-to-date names,and the latest taxonomic *** laboratory protocols together with advice on their application,as well as general observations,are also *** hope to maintain updated backbone trees of these fungal lineages over time and to publish them jointly as new data *** of plant pathogenic fungi not covered by the present study are invited to join this future ***,Botryosphaeriaceae,Botryosphaeria,Botrytis,choanephora,colletotrichum,curvularia,Diaporthe,Diplodia,Dothiorella,Fusarium,Gilbertella,Lasiodiplodia,Mucor,Neofusic.c.um,Pestalotiopsis,Phyllosticta,Phytophthora,Puccinia,Pyrenophora,Pythium,Rhizopus,Stagonosporopsis,Ustilago and Verticillium are dealt with in this paper.

An examination of ten commercial preparations of the chinese native eye drugs and the chinese drugs popularly used for the diseases of the eye were carried out by qualitative analysis and by experiments on rabbit’s normal *** chinese eye drugs are uniform in their chemical constituents. They mainly contain zinc.c.rbonate in the form of Lu Kan Shih ( 爐甘石 ). zinc-bloom, and calcium carbonate. They also contain a small amount of calcium oxide, camphor in the form of Ping P’ien ( 冰片 ), Borneo camphor, and some organic *** of ten samples of the chinese eye drugs produce injuries of rabbit’s normal eye of different gades, due chiefly to the content of quicklime and camphor in the eye drugs; the irritant effect of these two substances is enhanced by the insoluble ingredients of the eye *** chinese drugs popularly used for eye diseases, such as, Huang Lien (黄莲) coptis teeta, Ping P’ien (冰片), Borneo camphor and the feces of four kinds of birds (bat, cock sparrow, pigeon, flying fox) pro- duce injuries of the eye. The clinical observations upon the eye injuries produced by chinese eye drugs are fully discussed.A strict control and supervision of the chinese native eye drugs is extremely advisable.

目的研究强脉冲光(intense pulsed light,IPL)联合外用5-氨基酮戊酸(aminolevulinic,ALA)对鲜红斑痣(port wine stains,PWS)动物模型鸡冠的损伤效应,探讨外用ALA提高IPL治疗作用的可行性。方法莱亨鸡30只随机分为3组,A组6只,B,c组各12只。A组:不做任何处理;B组:单纯IPL照射1次;c组:局部外用ALA后IPL照射1次。观察各组鸡冠形态学、组织学变化,测量毛细血管的损伤深度并计算毛细血管减少率;TUNEL染色法观察血管内皮细胞凋亡情况。结果 B,c组鸡冠均退色明显。组织学观察可见毛细血管数目减少、管径变小,其毛细血管减少率分别为(67.92±1.79)%,(89.17±2.33)%,与A组比较,差异均有统计学意义(P均c组毛细血管凋亡指数分别为1.09±0.88,4.37±0.98和101.76±2.07,c组与A,B组比较,差异均有统计学意义(Pc组毛细血管明显凋亡深度为皮下(759.19±0.33)μm。结论 IPL与ALA的联合应用可能导致鸡冠真皮毛细血管的热损伤作用增强并诱导更深处血管内皮细胞发生凋亡,二者联用可以提高IPL的治疗作用。
