Structural failure analysis with CMS-based ground motion selection using innovative cost function and weight factors

The selection and scaling of ground motion records is considered a primary and essential task in performing structural analysis and design. Conventional methods involve using ground motion models and a conditional spectrum to select ground motion records based on the target spectrum. This research demonstrates the influence of adopting different weighted factors for various period ranges during matching selected ground motions with the target hazard spectrum. The event data from the Next Generation Attenuation West 2 (NGA-West 2) database is used as the basis for ground motion selection, and hazard de-aggregation is conducted to estimate the event parameters of interest, which are then used to construct the target intensity measure (IM). The target IMs are then used to select ground motion records with different weighted vector-valued objective functions. The weights are altered to account for the relative importance of IM in accordance with the structural analysis application of steel moment resisting frame (SMRF) buildings. Instead of an ordinary objective function for the matching spectrum, a novel model is introduced and compared with the conventional cost function. The results indicate that when applying the new cost function for ground motion selection, it places higher demands on structures compared to the conventional cost function. Moreover, submitting more weights to the first-mode period of structures increases engineering demand parameters. Findings demonstrate that weight factors allocated to different period ranges can successfully account for period elongation and higher mode effects.

The DNS over HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) (DoH) is a new technology that encrypts DNS traffic, enhancing the privacy and security of end-users. However, the adoption of DoH is still facing several research challenges, such as ensuring security, compatibility, standardization, performance, privacy, and increasing user awareness. DoH significantly impacts network security, including better end-user privacy and security, challenges for network security professionals, increasing usage of encrypted malware communication, and difficulty adapting DNS-based security measures. Therefore, it is important to understand the impact of DoH on network security and develop new privacy-preserving techniques to allow the analysis of DoH traffic without compromising user privacy. This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the effects of DoH on cybersecurity. We discuss various techniques for detecting DoH tunneling and identify essential research challenges that need to be addressed in future security studies. Overall, this paper highlights the need for continued research and development to ensure the effectiveness of DoH as a tool for improving privacy and security. Copyright © 2024 The Authors. Memory loss and dementia are major public health concerns with a substantial economic *** stress has been shown to play a crucial role in the pathophysiology of hippocampal damage-induced memory *** investigate whether the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound vanillyla cetone(zingerone) can protect against hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by cadmium chloride(CdCl_(2)) administration in rats,we explo red the potential involvement of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) signaling pathway,which is known to modulate oxidative stress and *** healt hy male Wistar rats were divided into five groups:vehicle-treated(control),vanillylacetone,CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2)+ brusatol(a selective pharmacological N rf2inhibitor) *** effectively attenuated CdCl_(2)-induced damage in the dental gyrus of the hippocampus and improved the memory function assessed by the Morris Water Maze ***,vanillylacetone markedly decreased the hippocampal tissue levels of inflammatory biomarkers(interleukin-6,tumor necrosis factor-α,intracellular cell adhesive molecules) and apoptosis biomarkers(Bax and cleaved caspase-3).The control and CdCl_(2)-treated groups treated with va nillylacetone showed reduced generation of reactive oxygen species,decreased malondialdehyde levels,and increased superoxide dismutase and glutathione activities,along with significant elevation of nuclear Nrf2 mRNA and protein expression in hippocampal *** the protective effects of vanillylacetone we re substantially blocked by the co-administration of brusatol(a selective N rf2 inhibitor).Va nillylacetone mitigated hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by CdCl_(2),at least in part, by activating the nuclear transcription factor ***,vanillylacetone exerted its potent antioxidant and antiinflammatory actions.

Moringa oleifera is well known as a highly nutritious plant and a water purifier in fish *** fish has many impressive qualities making them very suitable for ***,this study aimed to evaluate the effect of supplementation of Moringa oleifera aqueous extract(MOAE)at varying concentrations(0,100,200,and 400 mg/kg diet for 90 days)on growth performance,hematological,and some biochemical parameters of Nile ***,histological changes and immunohistochemical expression of caspase 3 in gills and livers were *** enhancements(P<0.05)in the final weight,weight gain,specific growth rate,red blood cells,hemoglobin,packed cell volume,white blood cells,and total serum protein were observed in fish fed 200 mg MOAE/kg diet compared with other ***,a significant reduction(P<0.05)of liver and kidney function tests and non-significant changes in lipid profile were *** the other hand,fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg diet revealed disturbance in the corresponding *** histological degenerative changes were detected in the gills and liver of fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg *** comparison,fish fed 200 mg MOAE/kg diet showed the best histo-architectures of these organs compared with other *** immune expressions of caspase 3 were determined where gills and liver of fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg diet revealed extensive number of positive caspase 3 cells indicating severe apoptotic ***,a dietary MOAE at 200 mg/kg diet is recommended to improve the growth performance,hematological parameters,liver and kidney functions in Nile ***,caution must be considered when using MOAE at a concentration over 200 mg/kg diet.

木棉是木棉科木棉属落叶乔木植物,是我国南方重要的观赏植物,是广州市和攀枝花市的市花,不仅具有较高的观赏价值,还具有有较高的经济价值、药用价值和食用价值。木棉传统的繁殖方式为播种和嫁接繁殖,其种子不易保存、易变质从而降低种子萌发率;而嫁接繁殖成活率更低。因此,本试验开展木棉组织培养快繁技术研究,以木棉种子为试验材料,通过开展对木棉种子不同消毒方法试验,确定最适合木棉种子的消毒方法,获得无菌种苗;并以无菌种苗为外植体,开展不同基础培养基、顶芽诱导激素组合、顶芽和丛生芽诱导和增殖培养基、生根培养基的筛选及炼苗试验,探索最佳基础培养基、激素组合、诱导培养基和增殖培养基、生根培养基及炼苗方法。结果表明:木棉组织培养最佳基础培养基为MS+蔗糖30 g/L+卡拉胶7.5 g/L;木棉种子最佳消毒方法为A_(2):75%乙醇消毒1 min→无菌水清洗5次→50%H_(2)O_(2)溶液消毒4 h→无菌水清洗5次;最佳木棉种子苗顶芽诱导分化幼芽的植物生长调节剂为6-BA+NAA的组合;最佳诱导及增殖培养基为C_(2):MS+6-BA 0.5 mg/L+IBA 0.5 mg/L+蔗糖30 g/L+卡拉胶7.5 g/L;最佳生根培养基为E_(3):1/2 MS+IBA 0.5 mg/L+蔗糖30 g/L+卡拉胶7.5 g/L+活性炭0.2 g/L;最佳炼苗基质为沙子∶泥炭土∶蛭石=1∶1∶1。通过对木棉种子消毒方法、培养基的筛选、激素组合及炼苗试验,对木棉组织培养技术进行优化,并建立了高效木棉组织培养技术体系,为木棉种苗离体保存、优良单株扩繁、健康种苗繁育及工厂化育苗提供技术支持,也可为木棉遗传转化体系奠定基础。

Hearing evaluation after successful myringoplasty

Objectives: To assess postoperative hearing level, and factors that may have influence hearing improvement after ***: Twenty six cases of successful myringoplasty were included in this prospective study. Patient parameters including age, gender, size and site of the perforation, mastoid status, and etiology were evaluated. Hearing levels were assessed as the mean air conduction(AC), and airbone gap(ABG) at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz, and their relation with aforementioned parameters were ***: The mean AC hearing gain was 22.373 dB and mean ABG reduction was 20.733 dB. The maximum AC hearing gain was 25.93 dB for subtotal perforation and 26.24 dB for big central perforation, and the maximum ABG reduction was 25.63 dB for subtotal perforation and 24.20 for big central perforation. Mean AC hearing gain was 23.01 dB, 22.72 dB, and 21.39 dB for 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz, respectively, and mean ABG reduction was 21.52 dB, 20.79 dB, and 19.86 dB for 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz, respectively. Patient age, gender, mastoid status and etiology did not seem to have any bearing on postoperative hearing ***: While patient parameters do not seem to correlate with hearing improvement following myringoplasty, the size and location of perforation appear to have an impact on postoperative hearing outcomes. Most hearing improvement appears to occur at 500 Hz.
