Challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease:Parkinson’s disease(PD)is an increasingly prevalent neurodegenerative disease,at first sight primarily characterized by motor symptoms,although non-motor symptoms also constitute a major part of the overall ***,this disease cannot be diagnosed reliably until a large part of the vulnerable dopaminergic neurons has been irretrievably lost,and the disease progresses *** biological criteria for PD have been proposed recently and might eventually improve early diagnosis,but they require further validation,and their use will initially be restricted to a research environment(Darweesh et al.,2024).

Optimization of low-thrust trajectories that involve a larger number of orbit revolutions is considered as a challenging *** paper describes a high-precision symplectic method and optimization techniques to solve the minimum-energy low-thrust multi-revolution orbit transfer problem. First, the optimal orbit transfer problem is posed as a constrained nonlinear optimal control problem. Then, the constrained nonlinear optimal control problem is converted into an equivalent linear quadratic form near a reference solution. The reference solution is updated iteratively by solving a sequence of linear-quadratic optimal control sub-problems, until convergence. Each sub-problem is solved via a symplectic method in discrete form. To facilitate the convergence of the algorithm, the spacecraft dynamics are expressed via modified equinoctial elements. Interpolating the non-singular equinoctial orbital elements and the spacecraft mass between the initial point and end point is proven beneficial to accelerate the convergence process. Numerical examples reveal that the proposed method displays high accuracy and efficiency.

The renewable energy source(RES)penetration in end use must be strengthened to reach the prefixed decarbonization targets.A penetration obstacle is represented by the Power grid,designed with an architecture disinclined to RES ***,different solutions are available to integrate these latter issues without affecting the grid,among these,the reversible Solid Oxide Cell(rSOC)promises high efficiencies and the possibility to control energy fluxes in both production and *** this study,a series of hourly simulations based on real data were designed to evaluate the rSOC capacity to integrate a large number of RESs in the end use of three different buildings,through analyzing the possible congestion on the Power *** a rSOC model we chose the Smart Energy Hub proposed by Sylfen while for the buildings we selected a school,a hotel,and an office located in Procida,*** results show the rSOC capacity to integrate RES increased from 40%to 62%according to the storage capacity and the building’s hourly load curve and seasonal consumptions.

This experimental study investigates the friction and wear of three coatings commonly used in industrial applications,particularly in hydrodynamic *** three materials under investigation were Babbitt,polyether ether ketone(PEEK)reinforced with 15%carbon fibers,and PEEK reinforced with 20%carbon *** first polymer material was extruded,while the other was produced by fused deposition modelling(FDM).The materials were subjected to sliding tests in a pin-on-disc configuration,with a steel ball serving as the counter *** tests were conducted at room temperature,with a load of 10 N and under three different lubrication conditions:dry,grease,and *** linear speed was set at 0.3 m/s for the dry and semi-solid lubrication tests,while for the oil tests,the speed was set at 0.25 m/*** greases used had consistency grades of NgLI 000 and NgLI *** ISO Vg 68 circulation oil was used for the oil lubrication ***,thermodynamic analyses were performed under the most severe conditions(i.e.,dry)to investigate the steel-Babbitt and steel-PEEK contact.

In the context of isogeometric analysis(IgA)of shell structures,the popularity of the solid-shell elements benefit from formulation simplicity and full 3D stress *** some basic questions remain unresolved when using solid-shell element,especially for large deformation cases with patch coupling,which is a common scene in real-life *** this research,after introduction of the solid-shell nonlinear formulation and a fundamental 3D model construction method,we present a non-symmetric variant of the standardNitsche’s formulation for multi-patch coupling in associationwith an empirical formula for its stabilization *** selective and reduced integration scheme is also presented to address the locking *** addition,the quasi-Newton iteration format is derived as solver,together with a step length control *** second order derivatives are totally neglected by the adoption of the non-symmetric Nitsche’s formulation and the quasi-Newton *** solid-shell elements are numerically studied by a linear elastic plate example,then we demonstrate the performance of the proposed formulation in large deformation,in terms of result verification,iteration history and continuity of displacement across the coupling interface.
