Hospital admissions from alcohol-related acute pancreatitis during the COVID-19 pandemic:A single-centre study

Most financial signals show time dependency that,combined with noisy and extreme events,poses serious problems in the parameter estimations of statistical ***,when addressing asset pricing,portfolio selection,and investment strategies,accurate estimates of the relationship among assets are as necessary as are delicate in a time-dependent *** this regard,fundamental tools that increasingly attract research interests are precision matrix and graphical models,which are able to obtain insights into the joint evolution of financial *** this paper,we present a robust divergence estimator for a time-varying precision matrix that can manage both the extreme events and time-dependency that affect financial time ***,we provide an algorithm to handle parameter estimations that uses the“maximization–minimization”*** apply the methodology to synthetic data to test its ***,we consider the cryptocurrency market as a real data application,given its remarkable suitability for the proposed method because of its volatile and unregulated nature.

The integrated steelmaking cycle based on the blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace（BOF）route plays an important role in the production of plain and ultra-low carbon steel,especially for deep drawing *** steelmaking is based on the conversion of cast iron in steel by impinging oxygen on the metal bath at supersonic *** order to avoid the addition of detrimental chemical elements owing to the introduction of uncontrolled scrap and in order to decrease environmental impact caused by the intensive use of coke for the production of cast iron,HBI（hot briquetted iron）can be used as a source of metal and a fraction of cast *** industrial experimental tests were performed to evaluate the viability of the use of HBI in *** experimental campaign was supported by a thermal prediction model and realized through the estimation of the oxidation ***,the process was thermodynamically analyzed based on oxygen potentials using the off-gas composition and the bath temperature evolution during the conversion as reference data.

Minimally invasive valve surgery:pushing boundaries over the eighty

BACKGROUND Mean age of patients with valves diseases is significantly increasing,and,in the near future,cardiac surgeons will have to deal with a considerable number of patients aged more than 80 *** remarkable results gained by the minimally invasive approach have encouraged its application in more complex and fragile patients,such as older *** study aimed to identify the rate of early mortality and major complications,and independent predictors for mid-term mortality in octogenarians undergoing minimally invasive valve *** Octogenarian patients undergoing right mini-thoracotomy mitral and/or tricuspid valve surgery between 2006 and2020 were *** endpoint was to identify independent predictors for mid-term mortality,and secondary endpoints were operative morality,stroke,independent predictors for early composite outcome,and quality of life at *** Analysis was performed on 130 *** occurred in one patient(0.8%),while operative mortality was 6%(eight patients).One-year and five-year survival were 86% and 64%,*** regression identified age and creatinine level as independent predictors of mid-term mortality,survival analysis showed that age ≥ 84 years and creatinine level ≥ 1.22 mg/dL were the cut-off points for worst *** gender and hypertension were found to be independent predictors of early composite *** Results of the present study show that age alone should not be considered a contraindication for minimally invasive valve *** patients who are most likely to have survival and functional benefits after surgery is decisive to achieve optimal health outcomes and prevent futile procedures.

According to the recent policies regarding energy use in buildings and the need of retrofit strategies,the aim of this work is to support policies concerning the installation of ground source heat exchangers in urban and historical areas,raising the awareness on the potential energy saving achievable with optimal sizing and limited impact on the urban *** have been developed distinguishing among existing and historic buildings,focusing on single-family terrace houses,which are the typical residential buildings in European historic centres.A methodology for the optimal sizing of ground source heat pumps,eventually considering dual-source system or air system has been developed combining simulations of a photovoltaic system to estimate the self-sufficiency and the self-consumption for five orientations of the *** results have been obtained for warm cli-mates,with negligible heating energy demand and possibly free cooling systems rather than traditional cooling systems needed in *** temperature was acceptable despite unbalanced energy *** proper inclination,photovoltaic systems could provide up to 40%of self-sufficiency share also in northern *** energy-economic analysis was carried out obtaining a variety of cases representing a general overview of the European building stock and the potential benefits achievable in terms of renewable energy share,energy savings and economic investments needed to be extended to simulations at urban scale.

Multi-revolution low-thrust trajectory optimization using symplectic methods

Optimization of low-thrust trajectories that involve a larger number of orbit revolutions is considered as a challenging *** paper describes a high-precision symplectic method and optimization techniques to solve the minimum-energy low-thrust multi-revolution orbit transfer problem. First, the optimal orbit transfer problem is posed as a constrained nonlinear optimal control problem. Then, the constrained nonlinear optimal control problem is converted into an equivalent linear quadratic form near a reference solution. The reference solution is updated iteratively by solving a sequence of linear-quadratic optimal control sub-problems, until convergence. Each sub-problem is solved via a symplectic method in discrete form. To facilitate the convergence of the algorithm, the spacecraft dynamics are expressed via modified equinoctial elements. Interpolating the non-singular equinoctial orbital elements and the spacecraft mass between the initial point and end point is proven beneficial to accelerate the convergence process. Numerical examples reveal that the proposed method displays high accuracy and efficiency.

Renewable Energy Penetration Strengthened Using a Reversible Solid Oxide Cell Installed in a Building

The renewable energy source(RES)penetration in end use must be strengthened to reach the prefixed decarbonization targets.A penetration obstacle is represented by the Power Grid,designed with an architecture disinclined to RES ***,different solutions are available to integrate these latter issues without affecting the Grid,among these,the reversible Solid Oxide Cell(rSOC)promises high efficiencies and the possibility to control energy fluxes in both production and *** this study,a series of hourly simulations based on real data were designed to evaluate the rSOC capacity to integrate a large number of RESs in the end use of three different buildings,through analyzing the possible congestion on the Power *** a rSOC model we chose the Smart Energy Hub proposed by Sylfen while for the buildings we selected a school,a hotel,and an office located in Procida,*** results show the rSOC capacity to integrate RES increased from 40%to 62%according to the storage capacity and the building’s hourly load curve and seasonal consumptions.
