Urban shrinkage has emerged as a widespread phenomenon globally and has a significant impact on land,particularly in terms of land use and *** study focuses on 2851 county-level cities in China in 2005–2018(excluding Hong Kong,Macao,Taiwan,and‘no data’areas in Qinhai-Tibet Plateau)as the fundamental units of *** employing nighttime light(NTL)data to identify shrinking cities,the propensity score matching(PSM)model was used to quantitatively examine the impact of shrinking cities on land prices,and evaluate the magnitude of this *** findings demonstrate the following:1)there were 613 shrinking cities in China,with moderate shrinkage being the most prevalent and severe shrinkage being the least.2)Regional disparities are evident in the spatial distribution of shrinking cities,especially in areas with diverse terrain.3)The spatial pattern of land price exhibits a significant correlated to the economic and administrative levels.4)Shrinking cities significantly negatively impact on the overall land price(ATT=–0.1241,Py among different spatial *** study contributes novel insights into the investigation of land prices and shrinking cities,ultimately serving as a foundation for government efforts to promote the sustainable development of urban areas.

Integrating host biological and ecological variables to predict probability of haemosporidian infection in raptors

Variations in host traits that influence their exposure and susceptibility may impact probability of vector-transmitted ***,identifying the predictors of infection probability is necessary to understand the risk of disease outbreaks during expanding environmental ***,we conducted a large survey based on microscopic examination and molecular analysis of haemosporidian parasite infection in raptors rescued at the beijing Raptor Rescue *** these data with biological and ecological variables of the raptors,we determined predictors that affect the probability of haemosporidian infection using generalized linear mixed models and multimodel *** results showed that infection probability exhibited considerable variation across host species in raptors,and body mass,sex,and evolutionary history played relatively weaker roles in driving infection ***,activity pattern,age,geographic range size,migration distance,and nest type were important predictors of the probability of haemosporidian infection,and the role of each predictor differed in the three main haemosporidian genera(Plasmodium,Haemoproteus,and Leucocytozoon).This macro-ecological analysis will add to our understanding of host traits that influence the probability of avian haemosporidian infection and will help inform risk of emerging diseases.

Dynamic response of buildings under debris flow impact

This study employs the smoothed particle hydrodynamics–finite element method(SPH–FEM) coupling numerical method to investigate the impact of debris flow on reinforced concrete(RC)-frame buildings. The methodology considers the variables of debris flow depth and velocity and introduces the intensity index IDV(IDV = DV) to evaluate three different levels of debris flow impact intensity. The primary focus of this study is to investigate the dynamic response and failure mechanism of RC-frame buildings under debris flow impact, including structural failure patterns, impact force and column displacement. The results show that under a highintensity impact, a gradual collapse process of the RCframe building can be observed, and the damage mode of the frame column reflects shear failure or plastic hinge failure mechanism. First, the longitudinal infill walls are damaged owing to their low out-of-plane flexural capacity;the critical failure intensity index IDV value is approximately 7.5 m2/s. The structure cannot withstand debris flows with an intensity index IDV greater than 16 m2/s, and it is recommended that the peak impact force should not exceed 2100 k N. The impact damage ability of debris flow on buildings mostly originates from the impact force of the frontal debris flow, with the impact force of the debris flow body being approximately 42% lower than that of the debris flow head. Finally, a five-level classification system for evaluating the damage status of buildings is proposed based on the numerical simulation and investigation results of the disaster site.

Multiple quantum coherences are often employed to describe quantum many-body dynamics in nuclear spin systems and recently,to characterize quantum phase transitions in trapped *** we investigate the multiple-quantum-coherence dynamics of a spin-1 bose–Einstein *** adjusting the quadratic Zeeman shift,the condensate exhibits three quantum *** numerical results show that the spectrum of multiple quantum coherence does indeed catch the quantum critical *** importantly,with only a few low-order multiple quantum coherences,the spin-1 condensate exhibits rich signals of the many-body dynamics,beyond conventional *** experimental implementation of such multiple quantum coherence protocol is also discussed.

This work is concerned with the convergence and stability of the truncated EulerMaruyama(EM)method for super-linear stochastic differential delay equations(SDDEs)with time-variable delay and Poisson *** constructing appropriate truncated functions to control the super-linear growth of the original coefficients,we present two types of the truncated EM method for such jump-diffusion SDDEs with time-variable delay,which is proposed to be approximated by the value taken at the nearest grid points on the left of the delayed *** first type is proved to have a strong convergence order which is arbitrarily close to 1/2 in mean-square sense,under the Khasminskii-type,global monotonicity with U function and polynomial growth *** second type is convergent in q-th(qype *** addition,we show that the partially truncated EM method preserves the mean-square and H∞stabilities of the true ***,we carry out some numerical experiments to support the theoretical results.

Molten carbonate is an excellent electrolyte for the electrochemical reduction of CO_(2)to carbonaceous ***,the electrolyte–electrode-reaction relationship has not been well ***,we propose a general descriptor,the CO_(2)activity,to reveal the electrolyte–electrode-reaction relationship by thermodynamic calculations and experimental *** studies agree well with theoretical predictions that both cations(Li^(+),Ca^(2+),Sr^(2+)and ba^(2+))and anions(bO_(2)^(-),Ti_(5)O_(14)^(8-),SiO_(3)^(2-))can modulate the CO_(2)activity to control both cathode and anode reactions in a typical molten carbonate electrolyzer in terms of tuning reaction products and *** this regard,the reduction of CO_(3)^(2-)can be interpreted as the direct reduction of CO_(2)generated from the dissociated CO_(3)^(2-),and the CO_(2)activity can be used as a general descriptor to predict the electrode reaction in molten ***,the CO_(2)activity descriptor unlocks the electrolyte–electrode-reaction relationship,thereby providing fundamental insights into guiding molten carbonate CO_(2)electrolysis.

The glymphatic system is a relatively recently identified fluid exchange and transpo rt system in the *** evidence indicates thatglymphatic function is impaired not only in central nervous system disorders but also in systemic *** diseases can trigger the inflammatory responses in the central nervous system,occasionally leading to sustained inflammation and functional disturbance of the central nervous *** review summarizes the current knowledge on the association between glymphatic dysfunction and central nervous system *** addition,we discuss the hypothesis that disease conditions initially associated with peripheral inflammation ove rwhelm the performance of the glymphatic system,thereby triggering central nervous system dysfun ction,chronic neuroinflammation,and *** research investigating the role of the glymphatic system in neuroinflammation may offer innovative therapeutic approaches for central nervous system disorders.
