Abstract： Excess of organic matter and nutrients in water promotes eutrophication process observed in the Ardila River. It was classified as much polluted being critical for Alqueva-Pedrogāo System. The aim of this study was to estimate the transported nutrients loads in a transboundary watershed using the SWAT （soil and water assessment tool） model and to determine the contribution of nutrients load in the entire watershed. Ardila watershed is about 3,711 km^2 extended from Spain （78%） to the eastern part of Portugal （22%）. It was discretized into 32 sub-basins using automated delineation routine, and 174 hydrologic response units. Monthly average meteorological data （from 1947 to 1998） were used to generate daily values through the weather generator Model incorporated in SWAT. Real daily precipitation （from 1931 to 2003） was introduced. The model was calibrated and verified for flow （from 1950 to 2000） and nutrients （from 1981 to 1999）. Model performance was evaluated using statistical parameters, such as NSE （Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency） and root mean square error （R2）. Calibration and verification flow results showed a satisfactory agreement between simulated and measured monthly date from 1962 to 1972 （NSE = 0.8; R^2 = 0.9）. The results showed that the most important diffuse pollution comes from the two the main tributary （Spain）. The estimated nitrogen and phosphorous loads contribution per year was respectively 72% and 59% in Spain and 28% and 41% in Portugal. The SWAT model was revealed to be a useful tool for an integrated water management approach that might be improved taking into count the WFD （water framework directive）.

Endoscopic ultrasonography is the most accurate procedure for the evaluation of subepithelial lesions. The finding of a homogeneous, hyperechoic, well-delimited lesion, originating from the third layer of the gastrointestinal tract(submucosa) suggests a benign tumor,generally lipoma. As other differential diagnoses have not been reported, echoendoscopists might not pursue a definitive pathological diagnosis or follow-up the patient. This case series aims to broaden the spectrum of differential diagnosis for duodenal hyperechoic third layer subepithelial lesions by providing four different and relevant pathologies with this echoendoscopic pattern.

This work consists in the use of a 3A zeolite (K-LTA) obtained by a process of exchange of sodium for potassium (4A zeolite), synthesized from Venezuelan kaolin for the removal of Pb (II) ions from aqueous solutions by batch process mode in order to consider its application in treating industrial wastewaters. The 3A zeolite was characterized for X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (SEM-EDX). The metal concentration in the equilibrium Ce (mg·L-1) after adsorption with 3A zeolite was analyzed using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The influences of the solution pH, contact time, metal initial concentration and adsorbent dosage have been studied. The retention of metal occurring at pH values around 6.5 and the adsorption equilibrium was obtained at 60 min. The equilibrium process was well described by Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) isotherm models. The Langmuir parameters qm (mg·g-1) and b (L·mg-1) (which are related to the sorption capacity and constant of sorption energy) obtained were 14.64 and 5.42 respectively. The Pb (II) experimental uptake was about 14.56 mg·g-1, a little smaller than the theoretical one given by Langmuir isotherm model. The regression parameters and correlation coefficients (R) indicate that the adsorption data for Pb (II) removal fit better the Langmuir isotherm model. Moreover, 0 1/n 1 (1/n is 0.13), indicating that adsorption of metal ions on the zeolite, is a favorable physical process. The application of removing of the metal lead from real samples was examined by industrial wastewater samples. For all samples, the percentage of recovery was found with accuracy of more than 98%. The present work suggests 3A zeolite used as a sorbent material with relatively low cost, obtained from Venezuelan raw material;it is a candidate for removal lead ion and probably other cationic heavy metal species

This case study aims to contribute to the literature in order to highlight the importance of this collaboration between medical specialties. A female patient R.N.N. F, age 66, from the city of Manaus, with a previous diagnosis of Sjogren’s syndrome in regular follow-up by the Rheumatology team at the Araujo Lima outpatient clinic and referred to the Ophthalmology sector for complementary evaluation related to visual discomfort. The fundoscopy performed in the patient was within normal limits, but the symptoms experienced by her proved to be an important clinical finding, which has ratified the need for regular and multidisciplinary follow-up. This report unequivocally demonstrates that even in the face of tests considered within the expected limits for a given population, the clinical presentation can be specific and particular for each analyzed individual. Early screening exams should contemplate the patient in a holistic and individualized way whenever possible.

Solar energy,which is essential for the origin and evolution of all life forms on Earth,can be objectively recorded through attributes such as climatic ambient temperature(CAT),ultraviolet radiation(UVR),and sunlight duration(SD).These attributes have specific geographical variations and may cause different adaptation ***,the adaptation profile of each attribute and the selective role of solar energy as a whole during human evolution remain ***,we performed a genome-wide adaptation study with respect to CAT,UVR,and SD using the Human Genome Diversity Project-Centre Etude Polymorphism Humain(HGDP-CEPH)panel *** singled out CAT as the most important driving force with the highest number of adaptive loci(6 SNPs at the genome-wide 1×10^(-7)level;401 at the suggestive 1×10^(-5)level).Five of the six genomewide significant adaptation SNPs were successfully replicated in an independent Chinese population(N=1395).The corresponding 316 CAT adaptation genes were mostly involved in development and *** addition,265(84%)genes were related to at least one genome-wide association study(GWAS)-mapped human trait,being significantly enriched in anthropometric loci such as those associated with body mass index(χ^(2);P<0.005),immunity,metabolic syndrome,and cancer(χ^(2);P<0.05).For these adaptive SNPs,balancing selection was evident in Euro-Asians,whereas obvious positive and/or purifying selection was observed in *** together,our study indicates that CAT is the most important attribute of solar energy that has driven genetic adaptation in development and immunity among global human *** also supports the non-neutral hypothesis for the origin of disease-predisposition alleles in common diseases.
