Background:"Chickenpox"is a highly infect.ous disease caused by t.e varicella-zost.r virus,influenced by seasonal and spat.al fact.rs.Dealing wit. varicella-zost.r epidemics can be a subst.nt.al drain on healt.-aut.orit. resources.Met.ods t.at.improve t.e abilit. t. locally predict.case numbers from t.me-series dat. set. every week are t.erefore wort. developing.Met.ods:Simple-t.-ext.act.t.end at.ribut.s from published univariat. weekly case-number univariat. dat. set. were used t. generat. mult.variat. dat. for Hungary covering 10 years.t.at.at.ribut.-enhanced dat. set.was assessed by machine learning(ML)and deep learning(DL)models t. generat. weekly case forecast. from next.week(t.)t. 12 weeks forward(t.12).t.e ML and DL predict.ons were compared wit. t.ose generat.d by mult.linear regression and univariat. predict.on met.ods.Result.:Support.vect.r regression generat.s t.e best.predict.ons for weeks t. and t.1,whereas ext.eme gradient.boost.ng generat.s t.e best.predict.ons for weeks t.3 t. t.12.Long-short.t.rm memory only provides comparable predict.on accuracy t. t.e ML models for week t.12.Mult.-K-fold cross validat.on reveals t.at.overall t.e lowest.predict.on uncert.int. is associat.d wit. t.e t.ee-ensemble ML models.Conclusion:t.e novel t.end-at.ribut. met.od offers t.e pot.nt.al t. reduce predict.on errors and improve t.ansparency for chickenpox t.meseries.

A met.od of quant.ficat.on of perfluorinat.d compounds(PFCs)from at.ospheric part.culat. mat.er(APM)is described.A single st.p pret.eat.ent.met.od,select.ve pressurized liquid ext.act.on(SPLE),was developed t. reduce t.e high mat.ix background and avoid cont.minat.on from commonly used mult.ple sample pret.eat.ent.st.ps.An effect.ve sorbent.was select.d t. purify t.e PFCs during SPLE,followed by liquid chromat.graphy-t.ndem mass spect.omet.y(LC–MS/MS),for quant.ficat.on of PFCs.Condit.ons affect.ng t.e SPLE efficiency,including t.mperat.re,st.t.c ext.act.on t.me,and number of ext.act.on cycles used,were st.died.t.e opt.mum condit.ons were found t. be 120℃,10 min,and 3 cycles,respect.vely.LC-MS/MS met.od was developed t. obt.in t.e opt.mal sensit.vit. specific t. PFCs.t.e met.od det.ct.on limit.(MDLs)were 0.006 t. 0.48 ng/g for t.e PFCs st.died and t.e linear response range was from 0.1 t. 100 ng/g.t. ensure accurat. values were obt.ined,each st.p of t.e experiment.was evaluat.d and cont.olled t. prevent.cont.minat.on.t.e opt.mized met.od was t.st.d by performing spiking experiment. in nat.ral part.culat. mat.er mat.ices and good rat.s of recovery and reproducibilit. were obt.ined for all t.rget.compounds.Finally,t.e met.od was successfully used t. measure 16 PFCs in t.e APM samples collect.d in Beijing over five years from 2015 t. 2019.It.is observed t.at.some PFCs follow t.e t.end of t.t.l PFC changes,and can be at.ribut.d t. t.e environment.influencing event. and policy enforcement.while ot.ers don't.seem t. change as much wit. t.me of t.e year or from year t. year.

In t.is st.dy, a broad range of supervised machine learning and paramet.ic st.t.st.cal, geospat.al, and non-geospat.al models were applied t. model bot. aggregat.d observed impact.est.mat. dat. and sat.llit. image-derived geolocat.d building damage dat. for eart.quakes, via regression-and classificat.on-based models, respect.vely. For t.e aggregat.d observat.onal dat., models were ranked via predict.ve performance of mort.lit., populat.on displacement. building damage, and building dest.uct.on for 375 observat.ons across 161 eart.quakes in 61 count.ies. For t.e sat.llit. image-derived dat., models were ranked via classificat.on performance(damaged/unaff ect.d) of 369,813 geolocat.d buildings for 26 eart.quakes in 15 count.ies. Grouped k-fold, 3-repeat.cross validat.on was used t. ensure out.of-sample predict.ve performance. Feat.re import.nce of several variables used as proxies for vulnerabilit. t. disast.rs indicat.s covariat. ut.lit.. t.e 2023 t.rkiye–Syria eart.quake event.was used t. explore model limit.t.ons for ext.eme event.. However, applying t.e AdaBoost.model on t.e 27,032 held-out.buildings of t.e 2023 t.rkiye–Syria eart.quake event. predict.ons had an AUC of 0.93. t.erefore, wit.out.any geospat.al, building-specific, or direct.sat.llit. image informat.on, t.is model accurat.ly classified building damage,wit. significant.y improved performance over sat.llit. image t.ained models found in t.e lit.rat.re.

SARS-CoV-2 infect.on is a major feat.re of long COVID.Perspect.ves on t.e prevalence of persist.nt.OD predominant.y rely on self-report.d olfact.ry funct.on.Few st.dies have t.acked longit.dinal rat.s of recovery using psychophysical assessment.among pat.ent. present.ng for evaluat.on of persist.nt.OD beyond a window of acut. recovery.Dat. anchored in st.ndardized t.st.ng met.ods are needed t. counsel pat.ent. who fail t. acut.ly regain t.eir sense of smell.t.is st.dy aims t. quant.fy t.e degree of persist.nt.OD in post.COVID-19 pat.ent. who experience subject.ve and psychophysical OD.Met.ods:We grouped part.cipant. present.ng for OD evaluat.on int. cohort. based on bot. subject.ve and psychophysical olfact.ry st.t.s at.a baseline assessment.and assessed t.eir olfact.ry abilit.es wit. a visual analogue scale and t.e Sniffin'St.cks ext.nded t.st.at.baseline and 1-year t.me point..Part.cipant. had confirmed a hist.ry of COVID-19 by lab evaluat.on or clinical diagnosis if lab evaluat.on was not.available.Result.:Baseline olfact.ry evaluat.on was complet.d by 122 part.cipant.,53 of whom complet.d t.e 1-year follow-up assessment.Among part.cipant. present.ng wit. perceived OD,74.5%had confirmed psychophysical OD at.baseline,wit. 55.1%at.1-year follow-up.Part.cipant. had reliable t.ends in self-rat.d versus psychophysically t.st.d olfact.ry funct.on at.bot. t.me point..t.e t.t.l t.reshold,discriminat.on,and ident.ficat.on(t.I)score improved by+3.25 point. in t.e cohort.wit. psychophysical OD(p=0.0005),wit. t.is improvement.largely at.ribut.ble t. an increase in median t.reshold scores(+2.75 point.;p=0.0004).Conclusions:OD persist. in a significant.number of pat.ent. who fail t. acut.ly recovery t.eir sense of smell aft.r COVID-19,wit. many demonst.at.ng lingering deficit. at.1-year.Improvement. in t.reshold,but.not.discriminat.on or ident.ficat.on,most.significant.y mediat. improvement.of t.t.l t.I score at.follow-up.

t.e aggregat.on of amyloid-bet. pept.de and t.u prot.in dysregulat.on are implicat.d t. play key roles in Alzheimer’s disease pat.ogenesis and are considered t.e main pat.ological hallmarks of t.is devast.t.ng disease. Physiologically, t.ese t.o prot.ins are produced and expressed wit.in t.e normal human body. However, under pat.ological condit.ons, abnormal expression, post.ranslat.onal modificat.ons, conformat.onal changes, and t.uncat.on can make t.ese prot.ins prone t. aggregat.on, t.iggering specific disease-relat.d cascades. Recent.st.dies have indicat.d associat.ons bet.een aberrant.behavior of amyloid-bet. and t.u prot.ins and various neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyot.ophic lat.ral sclerosis, as well as ret.nal neurodegenerat.ve diseases like Glaucoma and age-relat.d macular degenerat.on. Addit.onally, t.ese prot.ins have been linked t. cardiovascular disease, cancer, t.aumat.c brain injury, and diabet.s, which are all leading causes of morbidit. and mort.lit.. In t.is comprehensive review, we provide an overview of t.e connect.ons bet.een amyloid-bet. and t.u prot.ins and a spect.um of disorders.
