The increasing number of new fungal species described from all over the world along with the use of genetics to define taxa,has dramatically changed the classification system of early-diverging fungi over the past several *** number of phyla established for non-Dikarya fungi has increased from 2 to ***,to date,both the classification and phylogeny of the basal fungi are still *** this article,we review the recent taxonomy of the basal fungi and re-evaluate the relationships among early-diverging lineages of fungal *** also provide information on the ecology and distribu-tion in Mucoromycota and highlight the impact of chytrids on amphibian *** concepts in Chytridiomycota,Aphelidiomycota,rozellomycota,Neocallimastigomycota are discussed in this *** preserve the current application of the genus Nephridiophaga(Chytridiomycota:Nephridiophagales),a new type species,Nephridiophaga blattellae,is proposed.

Processing Compressed Expanded Natural Graphite for Phase Change Material Composites

Phase change materials(PCMs)are used in various thermal energy storage applications but are limited by their low thermal *** method to increase conductivity involves impregnating organic PCMs into highly porous conductive matrix *** these materials,compressed expanded natural graphite(CENG)matrices have received the most *** this attention,the effect that CENG processing has on PCM saturation and overall matrix thermal conductivity has not been fully ***,the effect of the heat treatment process used to expand intercalated graphite flakes is evaluated *** heat treatment temperatures yielded higher saturation rates and overall saturation at similar matrix *** example,increasing temperature from 300℃to 700℃resulted in approximately 60%-70%increase in pore saturation after 100 minutes of *** exposure time to heat treatment had less of an effect on PCM *** exposure time had negligible effect above 30 min and above 500℃heating ***,because the expanded graphite was found to oxidize around 700℃,the use of longer exposure time in manufacturing applications can be beneficial if a shortened impregnation time is *** treatment conditions did not impact thermal *** composite latent heat of fusion was also reduced approximately proportionally to the PCM mass fraction.A local maximum in axial thermal conductivity was observed at around 83%porosity,which is similar to previous *** observed conductivity at this maximum was a factor of 81 times greater than the conductivity of the PCM.

Structure and activity of thermophilic methanogenic microbial communities exposed to quaternary ammonium sanitizer

Food processing facilities often use antimicrobial quaternary ammonium compound （QAC） sanitizers to maintain cleanliness. These QACs can end up in wastewaters used as feedstock for anaerobic digestion. The aim of this study was to measure the effect of QAC contamination on biogas production and structure of microbial communities in thermo- philic digester sludge. Methane production and biogas quality data were analyzed in batch anaerobic digesters containing QAC at 0, 15, 50, 100 and 150 mg/L. Increasing sanitizer concentration in the bioreactors negatively impacted methane production rate and biogas quality. Microbial community composition data was obtained through 16S rrNA gene sequencing from the QAG-contaminated sludges. Sequencing data showed no significant restructuring of the bacterial communities. However, significant restructuring was observed within the archaeal communities as QAC concentration increased. Further studies to confirm these effects on a larger scale and with a longer retention time are necessary.

Electro-anatomic mapping of the right atrium:anatomic abnormality is an important substrate

Objective To map and compare the right atrium in patients with AF to those with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardias (AVNrT, as control group) and to investigate the anatomical and electrophysiological abnormality of the right atrium in *** The anatomy and electrophysiology of right atrium and cavotricuspid isthmus were evaluated in 20 patients with AF (16 M/4 F, mean age 55.9±10.68 years) and 26 patients with AVNrT (9 M/17 F, mean age 47.50±19.56 years) during coronary sinus pacing at 600 ms prior to ablation with electro-anatomical mapping system. right atrial volume (rAV), the length and width of cavotricuspid isthmus (IsL, IsW), unipolar and bipolar voltage in the right atrium (UniV-rA, BiV-rA) were measured and compared between patients with AF and those with AVNrT. results rAV, IsL, IsW, UniV-rA, and BiV-rA were 143.22±40.72 vs 104.35±21.06 ml, 39.31±8.10 vs 32.42±9.77 mm, 30.54±7.48 vs 23.15±6.61 mm, 1.96±1.24 vs 1.53±0.91 mv and 1.47±1.47 vs 1.29±1.12 mv in AF and AVNrT *** The right atrial volume is larger; both the length and width of cavotricuspid isthmus are greater. Unipolar and bipolar voltages in the right atrium are higher in AF than in AVNrT, suggesting that the enlarged right atrium, increased length and width of cavotricuspid isthmus, and concomitant atrial hypertrophy are important substrates for initiation and perpetuation of typical AF.

Quantifying relationships between subsidence and longwall face advance using DInSAr

Scale-up of biomass conversion using 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate as the solvent

This scale-up study demonstrated the feasibility of an ionic liquid(IL)pretreatment process at 40 kg scale,using the IL 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate([C2C1Im][OAc])as the *** pretreatment was followed by enzymatic hydrolysis through which the process efficiency for biomass conversion to monomeric sugars was *** results show that 43 wt%of switchgrass was dissolved in IL after 2 h of pretreatment at 160℃ with 15 wt%solid loading.A 120 h enzymatic hydrolysis of the pretreated switchgrass results in 96%glucan and 98%xylan conversion.[C2C1Im][OAc]pretreatment has been successfully scaled up to 40 kg with improved sugar titers and yields relative to bench scale(6 kg).The mass flow of the overall process was established and the major scale-up challenges of the process were identified.

Inundative field releases and evaluation of three predators for Bemisia tabaci （Hemiptera： Aleyrodidae） management in three vegetable crops

The sweetpotato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci （Gennadius）（Hemiptera： Aleyrodidae）, is a global pest on numerous crops, including vegetables. Weekly inundative releases of a coccinellid predator （Coccinella undecimpunctata L. [Coleoptera： Coccinellidae]）, a common green lacewing predator （Chrysoperla carnea Stephen [Neuroptera： Chrysopidae]）, and a mirid predator （Macrolophus caliginosus [Wagner] [Hemiptera： Miridae]） were independently made in three vegetable crops （cabbage [Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.], cucumber [Cucumis sativus L.], and squash [Cucurbita pepo L.]） for the management of the sweetpotato whitefly. Approximately 1 million to 2.5 million larvae or nymphs of each predator were released in the vegetable crops during 20 weeks. Whitefly populations were reduced by ≈ 25%-45% during most of the season in each crop where each predator was released. The effect of each predator was similar on whitefly population reduction. Late in the season （October） when whitefly populations were low, generally no benefit was obtained from releasing the predators. Numbers of predators recovered during sampling in all crops were greatest for C. carnea, but this corresponded with the fact that more individuals of this predator were released than any other predator in the experiment. These results help define the utility of these natural enemies for managing B. tabaci in vegetable crops.

Application of DNA barcodes in Hedyotis L.(Spermacoceae,rubiaceae)

The potential application of DNA barcodes of plastid(matK,trnH-psbA,petD,and rbcL) and nuclear(internal transcribed spacer(ITS) of rDNA) DNA regions was investigated for 25 Hedyotis *** ITS showed the best species discrimination by resolving 23 of the species as exclusive lineages with no shared alleles between any of the 24 distinct species(*** and *** are not supported as distinct species based on our molecular and morphological data).Conversely,rbcL performed the worst and only resolved 10 of the species as exclusive lineages,and 10 species with shared *** ITS has the advantage of high PCr amplification success and it provides good intra-and interspecific variation distribution *** most powerful plastid markers were petD and trnH-psbA,but we could amplify and sequence trnH-psbA for only 83% of the accessions *** of ITS and petD performed extremely well,with all 24 of the distinct species resolved as exclusive lineages and no shared alleles between any of the distinct *** therefore recommend ITS,or a combination of ITS and petD,as the standard DNA barcode in Hedyotis,but acknowledge that there are no shared alleles between distinct species for matK and rbcL combined.
