Impaired eye tracking is associated with symptom severity but not dynamic postural control in adolescents following concussion

Purpose:The purpose of the study was to(1)examine the relationship between self-reported symptoms and concussion-related eye tracking impairments,and(2)compare gait performance between(a)adolescents with a concussion who have normal eye tracking,(b)adolescents with a concussion who have abnormal eye tracking,and(c)healthy controls.Methods:A total of 30 concussed participants(age:14.4±2.2 years,mean±SD,50%female)and 30 controls(age:14.2±2.2 years,47%female)completed eye tracking and gait assessments.The BOX score is a metric of pupillary disconjugacy,with scoresrmal and≥10 abnormal.Symptoms were collected using the Post-Concussion Symptom Scale(PCSS),and gait speed was measured with triaxial inertial measurement units.We conducted a linear regression to examine the relationship between PCSS and BOX scores and a two-way mixed effects analysis of variance to examine the effect of group(abnormal BOX,normal BOX,and healthy control)on single-and dual-task gait speed.results:There was a significant association between total PCSS score and BOX score in the concussion group(β=0.16,p=0.004,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.06‒0.27),but not in the control group(β=0.21,p=0.08,95%CI:0.03 to 0.45).There were no significant associations between PCSS symptom profiles and BOX scores in the concussion or control groups.There were also no significant differences in singletask(Abnormal:1.00±0.14 m/s;Normal:1.11§0.21 m/s;Healthy:1.14±0.18 m/s;p=0.08)or dual-task(Abnormal:0.77±0.15 m/s;Normal:0.84±0.21 m/s;Healthy:0.90±0.18 m/s;p=0.16)gait speed.Conclusion:The concussed group with impaired eye tracking reported higher total symptom severity,as well as worse symptom severity across the 5 PCSS symptom domain profiles.However,eye tracking deficits did not appear to be driven by any particular symptom domain.While not statistically significant,the slower gait speeds in those with abnormal BOX scores may still be clinically relevant since gait-related impairments may persist beyond clinical recovery.

The diagnostic and prognostic utility of the dual-task tandem gait test for pediatric concussion

Background:The tandem gait test has gained interest recently for assessment of concussion recovery.The purpose of our study was to determine the prognostic and diagnostic use of the single-and dual-task tandem gait test,alongside other clinical measures,within 10 days of pediatric concussion.Methods:We assessed 126 patients post-concussion(6.3§2.3 days post-injury,mean§SD)at a pediatric sports medicine clinic and compared them to 58 healthy controls(age:15.6§1.3 years;43%female).We also compared the 31 patients with concussion who developed persistent post-concussion symptoms(PPCS)(age=14.9§2.0 years;48%female)to the 81 patients with concussion who did not develop PPCS following the initial assessment(age:14.1§3.0 years;41%female).All subjects completed a test battery,and concussion patients were monitored until they experienced concussion-symptom resolution.The test battery included tandem gait(single-task,dual-task(performing tandem gait while concurrently completing a cognitive test)conditions),modified Balance Error Scoring System(mBESS),and concussion symptom assessment(Health and Behavior Inventory).We defined PPCS as symptom resolution time>28 days post-concussion for the concussion group.Measurement outcomes included tandem gait time(single-and dual-task),dual-task cognitive accuracy,mBESS errors(single/double/tandem stances),and symptom severity.results:The concussion group completed the single-task(mean difference=9.1 s,95%confidential interval(95%CI):6.1-12.1)and dual-task(mean difference=12.7 s,95%CI:8.716.8)tandem gait test more slowly than the control group.Compared to those who recovered within 28 days of concussion,the PPCS group had slower dual-task tandem gait test times(mean difference=7.9 s,95%CI:2.0-13.9),made more tandem-stance mBESS errors(mean difference=1.3 errors,95%CI:0.2-2.3),and reported more severe symptoms(mean difference=26.6 Health and Behavior Inventory rating,95%CI:21.1-32.6).Conclusion:Worse dual-task tandem gait test time and mBESS tandem stance performance predicted PPCS in

在全球气候变化加剧的背景下,小麦(Triticum aestivum)产量与中国粮食安全密切相关,因此,基于小麦种子外部形态与内部成分的快速、无损检测对高通量鉴定其品质和活力意义重大。针对当前种子检测通量及准确性的限制,本研究通过多学科融合,结合多光谱成像、计算机视觉、自动化图像处理等技术,开发了一种通过多光谱图像从近百粒种子中快速提取单粒、并在单粒尺度完成外部形态(如种子面积、长度、宽度与圆度等)和内部物质成分(如植物色素、淀粉、植物油脂与水分含量等)量化分析的算法。针对所选的15个小麦品种,算法对1 347粒种子形态性状的分析结果与人工测量结果间的决定系数(r2)为面积0.900 (rMSE=1.504)、长度0.981 (rMSE=0.188)、宽度0.911 (rMSE=0.795);对513粒种子的六个关键光谱波段的r2为0.973、0.970、0.983、0.953、0.891、0.893;以上P值均小于0.005。在此基础上,通过形态与光谱性状的聚类和主成分分析,本研究还构建了区分不同品种小麦种子的分类方法,进而探索了重要种子农艺性状(如种子破损区域及种胚检测等)的自动鉴选算法,为种子活力和品质的高通量检测研究提供了新思路和新方法。

We report the confirmation of a sub-Saturn-size exoplanet,TOI-1194 b,with a mass of about 0.456+0.055-0.051M_(J),and a very low mass companion star with a mass of about 96.5±1.5 MJ,TOI-1251 *** candidates provided by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite(TESS)are suitable for further follow-up observations by ground-based telescopes with small and medium apertures.The analysis is performed based on data from several telescopes worldwide,including telescopes in the Sino-German multiband photometric campaign,which aimed at confirming TESS Objects of Interest(TOIs)using ground-based small-aperture and medium-aperture telescopes,especially for long-period targets.TOI-1194 b is confirmed based on the consistent periodic transit depths from the multiband photometric data.We measure an orbital period of 2.310644±0.000001 days,the radius is 0.767+0.045-0.041rJ and the amplitude of the rV curve is 69.4_(-7.3)^(+7.9)m s^(-1).TOI-1251 B is confirmed based on the multiband photometric and high-resolution spectroscopic data,whose orbital period is 5.963054+0.000002-0.000001days,radius is 0.947+0.035-0.033 r_(J) and amplitude of the rV curve is 9849_(-40)^(+42)ms^(-1).

Stable or nearly stable orbits do not generally possess well-distinguished manifold structures that assist in designing trajectories for departing from or arriving onto a periodic orbit.For some potential missions,the orbits of interest are selected as nearly stable to reduce the possibility of rapid departure.However,the linearly stable nature of these orbits is also a drawback for their timely insertion into or departure from the orbit.Stable or nearly stable near rectilinear halo orbits(NrHOs),distant retrograde orbits(DrOs),and lunar orbits offer potential long-horizon trajectories for exploration missions and demand eficient operations.The current investigation focuses on leveraging stretching directions as a tool for departure and trajectory design applications.The magnitude of the state variations along the maximum stretching direction is expected to grow rapidly and,therefore,offers information for efficient departure from the orbit.Similarly,maximum stretching in reverse time enables arrival with a minimal maneuver magnitude.

Measuring node decentralisation in blockchain peer to peer networks

New blockchain platforms are launching at a high cadence,each fighting for attention,adoption,and infrastructure resources.Several studies have measured the peer-to-peer(P2P)network decentralisation of Bitcoin and Ethereum(i.e.,two of the largest used platforms).However,with the increasing demand for blockchain infrastructure,it is important to study node decentralisation across multiple blockchain networks,especially those containing a small number of nodes.In this paper,we propose NodeMaps,a data processing framework to capture,analyse,and visualise data from several popular P2P blockchain platforms,such as Cosmos,Stellar,Bitcoin,and Lightning Network.We compare and contrast the geographic distribution,the hosting provider diversity,and the software client variance in each of these platforms.Through our comparative analysis of node data,we found that Bitcoin and its Lightning Network Layer 2 protocol are widely decentralised P2P blockchain platforms,with the largest geographical reach and a high proportion of nodes operating on The Onion router(TOr)privacy-focused network.Cosmos and Stellar blockchains have reduced node participation,with nodes predominantly operating in large cloud providers or well-known data centres.

Cyclooxygenases play a vital role in inflammation and are responsible for the production of prostaglandins.Two cyclooxygenases are described,the constitutive cyclooxygenase-1 and the inducible cyclooxygenase-2,for which the target inhibitors are the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs).Prostaglandins are a class of lipid compounds that mediate acute and chronic inflammation.NSAIDs are the most frequent choices for treatment of inflammation.Nevertheless,currently used anti-inflammatory drugs have become associated with a variety of adverse effects which lead to diminished output even market withdrawal.recently,more studies have been carried out on searching novel selective COX-2 inhibitors with safety profiles.In this review,we highlight the various structural classes of organic and natural scaffolds with efficient COX-2 inhibitory activity reported during 2011-2021.It will be valuable for pharmaceutical scientists to read up on the current chemicals to pave the way for subsequent research.

Thrombolysis of stroke mimics via telestroke

Background The rate of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator(IVtPA)administered to stroke mimics(SM)occurs in 24%-44%of telestroke series.Methods We reviewed 270 suspected acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)patients who were evaluated by telestroke and received IVtPA from 1 July 2016 to 30 September 2017 at our academic comprehensive stroke centre.results Among 270 AIS patients who received IVtPA via telestroke,64(23.7%)were diagnosed with SM.Compared with patients who had a stroke,the SM group was younger(mean age 56.4 vs 68.2,pre likely to be female(60.9%vs 45.6%,p=0.0324)and had longer door-to needle times(85.3 vs 69.9,p=0.0008).The most common SM diagnoses were migraine 26(40.6%),conversion disorder 12(18.8%),encephalopathy 7(10.9%)and unmasking(9.4%).Among the SM,migraine and conversion disorder were younger compared with the other subgroups(pre noted more frequently in conversion disorder(66.7%)and migraine(34.6%),but rare in other diagnoses(p=0.006).Among the SM,23(35.9%)had a history of a prior similar episodes,and 15(23.4%)had a history of more than 5 spells.Conclusions In our telestroke programme,23.7%of those administered thrombolysis had a final diagnosis of SM.

Functional outcomes of Tai Chi exercise prescription in women with knee osteoarthritis

Knee Osteoarthritis(KOA)is the most common type of knee joint injury and also a risk factor for multiple health consequences and is prevalent among older women.The updated clinical guidelines for KOA treatment by the American rheumatism Association recommend Tai Chi exercise.However,a literature review outlined limitations in Tai Chi intervention implementations.This study aimed to address some of the gaps.This study selected thirty female patients to participate in Tai Chi exercises and undergo relevant tests.The subjects were randomly assigned to Tai Chi or education groups.Independent sample t-tests were conducted to compare the difference in health indicators between the two groups after the intervention.The difference-in-differences(DID)regression was performed to assess the difference in the health outcomes between the two groups at baseline and follow-up and the difference in the differences.After the completion of the intervention,the Tai Chi group reported significantly improved KOA symptoms,physical fitness,and health status indicators than the control group.Specifically,the group differences were significantly larger at the baseline than at the follow-up.Our findings provide compelling evidence of the effects of the innovative Tai Chi exercise prescription specifically designed for KOA patients.The empirical evidence on its effectiveness in alleviating KOA symptoms and improving the overall health of middle-aged and elderly women with KOA suggested that Tai Chi intervention exercise has huge prospects for integration in KOA rehabilitation therapy.
