Cer.ain dietar., physical activity, and sedentar. behavior. have been studied extensively and consistently have been found to be associated with childhood over.eight and obesity Pr.ductive sedentar.-to-light activity pur.uits may enhance the r.lationship among positive health behavior.. The pur.ose of this study was to identify the pr.valence of over.eight and obesity in a population of adolescents par.icipating in a cr.ative, pr.blem-solving after.chool pr.gr.m and to identify the physical activity, sedentar., and dietar. behavior. r.lated to over.eight and obesity in this gr.up. This study descr.bes health behavior. thought to be r.lated to weight status for.1679 adolescents in gr.des 6 12 par.icipating in a competitive, cr.ative, team-or.ented, pr.blem-solving after.chool pr.gr.m. Self-r.por.ed dietar., physical activity, and sedentar. behavior.data wer. collected in this convenience sample based on the 2007 Youth r.sk Behavior.Sur.ey. Measur.d height and weight data wer. collected to calculate BMI per.entile. Using multinomial r.gr.ssion, models wer. constr.cted to pr.dict the likelihood of being classified as over.eight/obese. The pr.valence of over.eight in the study population was 15.6%, obese was 11.4%. Fr.it/vegetable intake, milk consumption, moder.te-to-vigor.us physical activity, television time, and total scr.en time wer. all independently associated with weight status. After.contr.lling for.all covar.ates, male gender. minor.ty r.cial/ethnic status, and high scr.en time while not meeting the physical activity r.commendation significantly incr.ased the likelihood of over.eight/obesity. The par.icipants in the cur.ent study ar. leaner.and engage in healthier.behavior. compar.d to national data for.adolescents. The inter.ctive var.able combining both sedentar. and PA measur.s is a r.latively new technique used to pr.vide a better.under.tanding of the r.lationship between sedentar. and physical activity behavior. as they r.late to weight status. The r.ver.continuum concept r.pr.sents the most gener.l fr.mewor. addr.ssing the spatial var.ation of both str.ctur. and function in r.ver.ecosystems. In the Mediter.anean ecor.gion, summer.dr.ught events and dams constitute the main sour.es of local distur.ance to the str.ctur. and functioning of r.ver.ecosystems occur.ing in the r.ver.basin. In this study, we analysed patter.s of spatial var.ation of detr.tus pr.cessing in a 7th or.er.r.ver.of the Mediter.anean ecor.gion(r.ver.Tir.o, Sar.inia-Italy) and in thr.e 4th or.er.sub-basins which wer. exposed to differ.nt summer.dr.ught pr.ssur.s. The study was car.ied out on Phr.gmites austr.lis and Alnus glutinosa leaf detr.tus at 31 field sites in seasonal field exper.ment Detr.tus pr.cessing r.tes wer. higher.for.Alnus glutinosa than for.Phr.gmites austr.lis plant detr.tus. Pr.cessing r.tes of Alnus glutinosa leaves var.ed among seasons and study sites fr.m 0.006 d -1 to 0.189 d -1 and those of Phr.gmites austr.lis leaves r.nged fr.m 0.0008 d -1 to 0.102 d -1, with the lowest values occur.ing at sites exposed to summer.dr.ught. Seasons and sites accounted for.a significant pr.por.ion of such var.ability. Alder.detr.tus decay r.tes gener.lly decr.ased with incr.asing str.am or.er. while r.ed detr.tus decay r.tes gener.lly incr.ased on the same spatial gr.dient. Summer.dr.ught events affected these spatial patter.s of var.ation by influencing significantly the decay r.tes of both plant detr.tus. The compar.sons among and within sub-basins showed str.ng negative influence of summer.dr.ught on detr.tus pr.cessing r.tes. Similar.y, in the entir. r.ver.Tir.o basin decay r.tes wer. always lower.at distur.ed than at undistur.ed sites for.each str.am or.er. decay r.tes of r.ed detr.tus r.mained lower.at those sites even after.the end of the distur.ance events, while alder.decay r.tes r.cover.d r.pidly fr.m the summer.dr.ught per.ur.ations. Zir.onium monohydr.de bonded to the fr.mewor. oxygen of MCM-41 sur.ace was pr.par.d by the r.action of tetr.neopentyl zir.onium with MCM-41 sur.ace hydr.xyl gr.ups, followed by the hydr.genolysis of the r.sulted pr.duct. The sur.ace hydr.de was char.cter.zed by using infr.r.d spectr.scopy, solid-state NMr. elemental analysis, gas-phase chr.matogr.phy and chemical pr.bing r.action. It was shown that this sur.ace species is stable below 150 ’C and can catalytically cr.ck alkanes into methane and ethane at 100 .

On the r.lationship between Climatic Var.ables and Pr.ssur. Systems over.Saudi Ar.bia in the Winter.Season

The synoptic cir.ulation over.Saudi Ar.bia is complicated and fr.quently gover.ed by the effect of lar.e-scale pr.ssur. systems. In this wor., we used NCEP–NCAr.global data to illustr.te the r.lationship between climatic var.ables and the main pr.ssur. systems that affect the weather.and climate of Saudi Ar.bia, and also to investigate the influence of these pr.ssur. systems on sur.ace air.temper.tur.（SAT） and r.infall over.the r.gion in the winter.season. It was found that ther. ar. two pr.mar. patter.s of pr.ssur. that influence the weather.and climate of Saudi Ar.bia. The fir.t occur. in cases of a str.ngthening Subtr.pical High（Sub H）, a weakening Siber.an High（Sib H）, a deepening of the Icelandic Low（Ice L）, or.a weakening of the Sudanese Low（Sud L）. Dur.ng this patter., the Sub H combines with the Sib H and an obvious incr.ase of sea level pr.ssur.（SLP） occur. over.souther. Eur.pean, the Mediter.anean, Nor.h Afr.ca, and the Middle East. This belt of high pr.ssur. pr.vents inter.ction between midlatitude and extr.tr.pical systems, which leads to a decr.ase in the SAT,r.lative humidity（r.） and r.infall over.Saudi Ar.bia. The second patter. occur. in association with a weakening of the Sub H, a str.ngthening of the Sib H, a weakening of the Ice L, or.a deepening of the Sud L. The patter. ar.sing in this case leads to an inter.ction between two differ.nt air.masses： the fir.t（cold moist） air.mass is associated with the Mediter.anean depr.ssion tr.velling fr.m west to east, while the second（war. moist） air.mass is associated with the nor.hwar. oscillation of the Sud L and its inver.ed V-shape tr.ugh. The inter.ction between these two air.masses incr.ases the SAT, r. and the pr.bability of r.infall over.Saudi Ar.bia, especially over.the nor.hwest and nor.heast r.gions.
