The proliferation of urban development with concentration in population and human-environment interaction has intensified around urban environments. This has resulted in the degradation of urban environments, overuse of natural resources and widespread pollution of ecosystems. The patterns of design initiatives continue to follow unsustainable path with impacts on stream ecosystems. Accordingly, the paper adopts geospatial information systems and sustainability principles for the identification and sequential mapping of stressors impeding natural systems in Southern Mississippi. The results not only reveal that the study area experienced some significant changes in its watershed environments, but the stream habitat ecosystem remains under stress. The recommendations for mitigating the problems range from policy considerations to the adoption of ecosystem approach.

Obj.ctive: To determine the effects of bexarotene on malignant T cells isolated from the peripheral blood of patients with the leukemic variant of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (Sé zary syndrome).Design, Setting, and Participants: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 9 patients with Sé zary syndrome and a high burden of circulating malignant T cells (>50% of peripheral blood mononuclear cells) and 6 healthy volunteers underwent evaluation at a university medical center, to test the effects of bexarotene on T cells. Main Outcome Measures: The capacity of bexarotene to induce apoptosis and its effects on T-cell cytokine production from peripheral blood lymphocytes isolated from patients with Sé zary syndrome. Results: Bexarotene produced dose-dependent apoptosis of peripheral blood T cells from patients with Sé zary syndrome. The T cells from approximately two thirds of patients were consistently sensitive to bexarotene, whereas those from the remaining one third of patients were consistently resistant to the apoptotic effects of bexarotene. Bexarotene inhibited mitogen-induced interleukin 4 production by the peripheral blood cells of patients with Sé zary syndrome, and this effect correlated with sensitivity of patients’ cells to apoptosis. In contrast to the retinoic acid receptor-specific retinoid, all-trans retinoic acid, bexarotene does not induce the augmentation of interferon γ production. Conclusions: Bexarotene induces apoptosis of malignant T cells from patients with Sé zary syndrome, but the cells from a proportion of patients are resistant to the apoptotic effects. Interleukin 4 production, which can play a role in the systemic immunosuppression that characterizes advancing Sé zary syndrome, may be inhibited by bexarotene.

4 Summary and conclusion The j.ULE sounding rocket 1 experiment was carried out at Poker Flat Research Range in Alaska around 1200 UT on March 27th,2003 with two instrumented rockets and one chemical tracer *** the released TMA trails,neutral wind measurements from approximately 85 to 160 km altitude showed a vertically propagating wave and a j.t structure around 120 km *** shears appeared at the bottom side of the j.t with richardson numbers close to or smaller than the critical value of 0.25,which implies the possible existence of Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities caused by the vertical shear in the fast flows.

Plants evolved their own strategy to form the essential link between the endoplasmic reticulum(ER) and the plasma membrane(PM) through a complex including NET3 C and VAP27(Wang et al 2014,Curr Biol).However,the function of plant ER-PM contact sites has not been fully *** this study,we have identified a function for ER-PM contact sites(EPCS) in plants and that is in the autophagosome biogenesis pathway,in concert with actin cytoskeleton and the Arabidopsis EH ***1 and AtEH2 are components of the endocytic TPLATE complex which is known to be essential for endocytosis in plants(Gadeyne et al.,2014,Cell).Both proteins(from now on termed AtEH/Pan1) share high sequence similarity with the yeast ARP2/3 complex activator,Pan1 *** AtEH/Panl proteins localise to the plasma membrane and autophagosomes,and their autophagosome membrane recruitment requires its N-terminal EH domains which interact with *** induction of autophagy,AtEH/Pan1 proteins recruit TPC and AP-2 subunitsand ARP2/3 proteins onto the autophagosome *** expression of AtEH1/Pan1 boosts autophagosome formation and suggest independent and redundant pathways for actin mediated autophagy in ***,AtEH/Pan1 regulated autophagosomes are found associated with EPCS where AtEH/Panl interacts with *** knock-down expression of either AtEH/Pan1 or VAP27-1 are more susceptible to nutrient depleted conditions,indicating defective *** conclusion,our results suggest that AtEH/Pan1 proteins regulate an autophagosome-dependent degradation pathway which starts at the EPCS through its interaction with VAP27-1 and merges with endocytic pathways.

混合所有制改革的首要动机是提高国有企业的资本效率,投资是企业重要的价值增值活动,国有企业混合所有制改革对公司绩效(ROA)的影响得到了学术界的广泛关注。有关混改对国有企业投资效率的影响,国内少量文献着重分析了混改对国企“非效率投资”(包括过度投资和投资不足)的影响,但国企混改所强调的“效率”更侧重的是投入产出比的概念,目前尚无基于这一视角的研究。本文首次从投入产出的视角分析了“混合所有”的股权结构对国有企业投资效率的影响,并从投入和产出的两个角度进行了混改影响投资效率的路径分析。实证分析结果表明:非国有股东持股比例与国有企业投资效率存在倒U型关系,前十大股东中非国有股份的持股比例约为20%时,“混合所有”的股权结构对国有企业投资效率的提升作用达到了最大。研究结论既支持了不同性质股权的资源协同和互补效应,同时也支持了制衡理论的权利纷争负效应。这一结论为混改优化国有企业股权结构、完善公司治理结构提供了重要的事实依据和政策启示。

In grassland ecosystems,burrowing mammals create disturbances,providing habitat for animal species and increasing plant community *** investigated whether seedling assemblages on richardson's ground squirrel Urocitellus richardsonii mounds result from seed rearrangement or environmental changes that favor germination of certain species over *** test whether ground squirrels rearrange the seed bank by burrowing,we compared seed compositions among mounds,burrows,and undisturbed *** test whether ground squirrels change environmental conditions,we compared soil nitrate and bare ground cover on and off *** also compared seedlings that germinated on mounds with seedlings that germinated on artificial disturbances from which we removed aboveground *** nitrate and bare ground cover were significantly higher on mounds than artificial *** seed richness and abundance did not differ among mounds,burrows,and undisturbed soil,seedling richness was reduced on mounds relative to artificial *** disturbance favors seedlings that can capitalize on bare ground availability but are less able to immobilize nitrate,as opposed to perennial species that immobilize more nitrate but take longer to *** results suggest that richardson's ground squirrels act as ecosystem engineers,although future research following succession on ground squirrel mounds is necessary to understand how they influence plant communities past the seedling stage.

Background &Aims: Secretory diarrhea is caused by inhibition of intestinal active sodium absorption and stimulation of active chloride secretion. The resulting increase in fecal sodium salts causes an isotonic increase in fecal water output. Abnormalities in potassium transport are not known to be a cause of secretory diarrhea. The aim of our report is to describe a patient with secretory diarrhea that was mediated by excess intestinal secretion of potassium. Methods: A 78-yearold woman developed colonic pseudo-obstruction, complicated by severe dia rrhea and hypokalemia. Her stools were collected quantitatively on 11 occasions and analyzed for electrolyte concentrations. Rectosigmoid potential difference w as measured. Results: The diarrheal fluid had a very high potassium concentratio n (130-170 mEq/L) and a very low sodium concentration (4-15 mEq/L). Stool pota ssium losses were as high as 256 mEq/day (normal, 9 mEq/day), and fecal sodium l osses were never higher than 13 mEq/day. Potential difference between colonic lu men and a peripheral reference electrode was -14 mV (lumen side negative). Conc lusions: Fecal potassium salts were the exclusive driving force for severe secre tory diarrhea in a patient with colonic pseudo-obstruction. The high fecal outp ut of potassium was due to stimulation of active colonic potassium secretion, po ssibly because of changes in autonomic nervous system activity and distention of the colon in association with colonic pseudo-obstruction. The extremely low fe cal excretion of sodium indicates that active sodium absorption was not inhibite d. This case study reveals an ion transport mechanism of secretory diarrhea that has not been previously appreciated.
