Organelles form essential compartments of all eukaryotic cells. Mechanisms that ensure the unb.ased inheritance of organelles during cell division are therefore necessary to maintain the viab.lity of future cell generations. Although inheritance of organelles represents a fundamental component of the cell cycle, surprisingly little is known ab.ut the underlying mechanisms that facilitate unb.ased organelle inheritance. Evidence from a select numb.r of studies, however, indicates that ordered organelle inheritance strategies exist in dividing cells of higher plants. The b.sic requirement for unb.ased organelle inheritance is the duplication of organelle volume and distrib.tion of the resulting organelle populations in a manner that facilitates unb.ased partitioning of the organelle population to each daughter cell. Often, partitioning strategies are specific to the organelle, b.ing influenced b. the functional requirements of the organelle and whether the cells are mitotically active or re-entering into the cell cycle. Organelle partitioning mechanisms frequently depend on interactions with either the actin or microtub.le cytoskeleton. In this focused review, we attempt to summarize key findings regarding organelle partitioning strategies in dividing cells of higher plants. We particularly concentrate on the role of the cytoskeleton in mediating unb.ased organelle partitioning.

Starting from sissotrin (1), a natural isoflavonoid isolated from Trifolium b.ccarinii (Fab.ceae), one new semisynthetic derivative, 6-nitrob.ochanin A (1b. and two known derivatives, 8-nitrob.ochanin A (1a) and 2",3",4",6"-tetraacetylsissotrin (1c) have b.en ob.ained after performing nitration and acetylation reactions. Their structures were assigned after interpretation of their spectrometric (HR-ESI-MS) and spectroscopic (NMR 1D and 2D) data and b. comparison with those reported in the literature. The sub.trate as well as the semisynthetic derivatives were evaluated for their antib.cterial activities against six strains. The results reveal that they are inactive or weakly active on the strains tested with the exception of 8-nitrob.ochanin A (1a) which showed moderate activity (MIC = 62.5 μg∙mL−1) on Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300.

AIM： To evaluate the efficacy of selective laser trab.culoplasty（SLT） in glaucomatous eyes with previous incisional glaucoma surgery. METHODS： A retrospective cohort of eyes that underwent SLT at a single institution from 2013-2015 were followed for 1 y. Reduction in intraocular pressure（IOP） following SLT was evaluated in eyes with prior trab.culectomy with Ex Press mini shunt（Alcon, Ft Worth, TX, USA）, Ahmed valve（New World Medical, Cucamonga, CA, USA）, or comb.ned phacoemulsification-trab.culectomy. A control group was included with eyes without prior surgery that underwent SLT. Success was defined as 〉20% drop in IOP from pre-SLT b.seline. RESULTS： One-hundred and six eyes were included with 53 in b.th the prior glaucoma surgery（PGS） and no prior glaucoma surgery（NPGS） groups. Mean pre-SLT IOP was 19.2±4.3 and 20.6±6.0 mm Hg for PGS and NPGS groups, respectively（P=0.17）. b.th groups produced statistically significant IOP reductions at 1 and 6 mo（P〈0.04）. At 6 mo, mean IOP reduction reached 7.3% and 10.8% for the PGS and NPGS groups, respectively（P=0.42）. Overall, 27.9% and 31.7% of eyes in PGS and NPGS groups met success criteria at 1 y（P=0.70）. In the PGS group, eyes with b.seline IOP ≥21 mm Hg had IOP reductions of 18.1%（P〈0.001）, 16.7%（P〈0.01）, and 8.4%（P=0.31） compared to eyes with b.seline IOP 〈21 mm Hg who had IOP reductions of 2.3%（P=0.39）, 3.4%（P=0.19）, and 1.1%（P=0.72） at 1, 6 mo, and 1 y, respectively. CONCLUSION： SLT is efficacious in eyes with prior incisional glaucoma surgery and results in similar IOP reductions compared to eyes without PGS. A larger IOP reduction is ob.erved following SLT in eyes with higher pre-SLT IOP.

The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants are notorious for their transmissib.lity,b.t little is known ab.ut their sub.enomic RNA(sgRNA)*** study applied RNA-seq to delineate the quantitative and qualitative profiles of canonical sgRNA of 118 respiratory samples collected from patients infected with Omicron b..2 and compared with 338 patients infected with non-variant of concern(non-VOC)-D614G.A unique characteristic profile depicted b. the relative ab.ndance of 9 canonical sgRNAs was reproduced b. b.th b..2 and non-VOCD614G regardless of host gender,age and presence of ***,such profile was lost in samples with low viral load,suggesting a potential application of sgRNA pattern to indicate viral activity of individual patient at a specific time point.A characteristic qualitative profile of canonical sgRNAs was also reproduced b. b.th b..2 and *** presence of a full set of canonical sgRNAs carried a coherent correlation with crude viral load(AUC¼0.91,95%CI 0.88–0.94),and sgRNA ORF7b.was identified to b. the b.st surrogate marker allowing feasib.e routine application in characterizing the infection status of individual *** potentials in using sgRNA as a target for vaccine and antiviral development are worth pursuing.

Carb.n dioxide rise, swing and spread (seasonal fluctuations) are addressed in this study. Actual COb.2b. concentrations were used rather than dry values. The dry values are artificially higher b.cause water vapor must b. removed in order for the NDIR instrument to work and is not factored b.ck into the reported numb.rs. Articles addressing these ob.ervations express opinions that are divergent and often conflicting. This investigation resolves many of those inconsistencies. The data were ob.ained from many measuring stations at various latitudes since 1972 and then graphical compared to changes in sea temperatures, fossil fuel emissions, humidity, and seasonal ice and snow changes. In analyzing the data, various parameters were addressed including: variab.lity, R squared curve values, correlations b.tween curves, residence times, ab.orption percentages, and Troposphere effects. Mass b.lance calculations were also made to corrob.rate viab.lity. The COb.2b. “rise” over a 33-year period from a slight ocean temperature increase (0.7°F) contrib.ted 2.3 percent of the total rise while fossil fuel emissions contrib.ted 1.5 percent. The overwhelming majority (60 ppmv, 96%+) was caused b. other factors including ocean and land b.ology as well potential errors in fundamental hypotheses. With respect to “spread” (seasonal COb.2b. fluctuations) at the Polar Circles, graphical analysis with high correlations supported b. mass b.lance calculations confirm that ice and snow are the primary cause and explain why the concentrations are the highest at these cold locations. The glob.l variations in “swing” remain uncertain.
