Field observa.ions of Ostrinia.nubila.is eclosion a.d post-eclosion a.tivity of fema.es a.ound their na.a. pla.ts

The ea.ly pa.t of the post-eclosion, pre-ma.ing period were exa.ined under field conditions for Ostrinia.nubila.is. Post-eclosion beha.ior of 25 a.d 21 fema.es during the first a.d second flight periods were observed until they left their na.a. site. Summer genera.ion la.va. were rea.ed under field conditions a.d the timing of a.ult eclosion wa. observed. Eclosion occurred a. two times during the da., pea.ing before da.n a.d before dusk; 46% of fema.es a.d 56% of ma.es eclosed during the morning period a.d the rest eclosed during the evening period. a.ter eclosion, fema.es spent 30-60 min expa.ding their wings. Their typica. beha.ior wa. to rema.n ca.mly on their na.a. site. None of the fema.es exhibited ca.ling beha.ior before lea.ing. a.l fema.es left their na.a. sites sometime before da.n. The proba.ility of lea.ing increa.ed with time. Lea.ing ra.es were not significa.tly different between fema.es of the first a.d second flight. These field observa.ions indica.e tha. fema.es ha.e severa. possibilities for pre-ma.ing movement, which might a.low fema.es to move out from their na.a. field before ma.ing. In a.dition, we a.so discuss the influence of pre-ma.ing movements in rela.ion to the ra.e of Ba.illus thuringiensis （Bt） resista.ce evolution.

Two hundred a.d fifty single first-order a.rhenius rea.tions a.e simula.ed to genera.e S2 pyrogra.s a. three hea.ing ra.es 25,15,a.d 5°C·*** a.tiva.ion energy(E)a.d pre-exponentia. fa.tor(a.of the rea.tions simula.ed follow a.long-esta.lished trend of those va.ia.le va.ues displa.ed by sha.es a.d *** cha.a.teristics of the tra.sforma.ion fra.tion(TF)profiles(product genera.ion window tempera.ures)of the simula.ed single rea.tions a.e compa.ed to the TF profiles of recorded sha.e pyrogra.s genera.ed by multiple rea.tions with different E-a.va.ues lying nea. the defined E-a.*** simila.ities a.d differences a.e observed between the TF profile va.ues of the two *** simila.ities support the sprea. of E-a.va.ues involved in sha.e pyrogra. best *** differences a.e most likely expla.ned by the complexity of the multiple kerogen first-order a.d second-order rea.tions contributing to the recorded sha.e pyrogra.s versus the simplicity a.d crispness of the single first-order rea.tions *** results a.so justify the va.idity of using the previously described“va.ia.le E-a.pyrogra.-fitting method”of multi-hea.ing-ra.e sha.e pyrogra.s ena.ling optimizers to choose multiple rea.tions from a. unlimited ra.ge of E-a.*** contra.t,further doubt is ca.t on the va.idity of the consta.t-a.pyrogra.-fitting method used by the Ea.y%Ro technique,in tha. a.distribution of rea.tions with a.single a.va.ue is unlikely to represent the complex va.iety of kerogen ma.era.s observed in sha.e *** profiles genera.ed by the va.ia.le E-a.pyrogra.-fitting method lie close to the esta.lished E-a.trend a.d a.e likely to provide more rea.istic TF genera.ion window tempera.ures tha. Ca.l centers ha.e grown world-wide during the pa.t deca.e. One of the most importa.t a.pects considered by ca.l center ma.a.ers is the optimiza.ion of its opera.ors, which implies covering the highly va.ia.le dema.d a.d f＇mding a. efficient wa. to a.sign people to certa.n shifts in order to a.hieve a.desira.le service level a.d a.a.donment ra.e. a.other cha.lenge is determining which system setup is a.propria.e for the specific ca.l center. Should we ha.e a.single-skill ca.l center or multi-skill ca.l center？ If we do ha.e the la.ter, how ma.y multi-skill a.ents should we ha.e on sta.f？. In this ca.e study, we genera.e a.d a.a.yze discrete-event systems simula.ion-optimiza.ion models to test the beha.ior of a.rea.-world ca.l center under the a.tua. configura.ion a.d under different levels of cross-tra.ning. The model results help ca.l center ma.a.ers by： 1） determining the optima. number of opera.ors needed for different sta.f configtma.ions in order to a.hieve the ta.gets for service level a.d a.a.donment; 2） providing informa.ion a.out the tra.e-off between the key mea.urements in the ca.l center; a.d 3） providing useful informa.ion a.out the number of opera.ors needed a.d used for ea.h hour of opera.ion to estima.e the number of four-hour shifts required to a.hieve the performa.ce ta.gets. Our experimenta. f＇mdings from this ca.e study suggest tha. a.bi-skill ca.l center is economica.ly better in the long-rtm compa.ed to a.full-skill or single-skill ca.l center. This ca.e study a.gments the ca.l center body of knowledge by providing a.ditiona. ma.a.eria. insights for the opera.ions ma.a.ement community.

Presently, very strong politica. a.d economic forces drive the utilisa.ion of domestic, unconventiona. oil a.d ga. recovery in the West a. these enha.ce energy security a.d ea.e ba.a.ce of pa.ment issues. The a.ditiona. ca.a.ity genera.ed by this trend ha., supported by other effects such a. Sa.di a.a.ia.s decision to ma.nta.n current production, triggered a.significa.t reduction ofoil prices. Consequently, it is now oil exporters tha. struggle with the ba.a.ce of pa.ment issues a.d often these countries ba.e their fisca. budget completely on fossil fuel revenues. In fa.t, these unconventiona. resources help turn the tide while oil exporters a.e now politica.ly significa.tly wea.ened due to the increa.ed energy sufficiency of the West. The ca.ch is tha. the extra.tion of unconventiona. types ofoil ha. ma.y environmenta. implica.ions. So, interna.ising the environ- menta. externa.ities ha.e to be considered. Epigenetic a.tera.ions a.e a.socia.ed with a.l a.pects of ca.cer, from tumor initia.ion to ca.cer progression a.d meta.ta.is. It is now well understood tha. both losses a.d ga.ns of DNa.methyla.ion a. well a. a.tered chro- ma.in orga.iza.ion contribute significa.tly to ca.cer- a.socia.ed phenotypes. More recently, new sequencing technologies ha.e a.lowed the identifica.ion of driver muta.ions in epigenetic regula.ors, providing a.mecha. nistic link between the ca.cer epigenome a.d genetic a.tera.ions. Oncogenic a.tiva.ing muta.ions a.e now known to occur in a.number of epigenetic modifiers （i.e. IDHll2, EZH2, DNMT3a., pinpointing epigenetic pa.h- wa.s tha. a.e involved in tumorigenesis. Simila.ly, investiga.ions into the role of ina.tiva.ing muta.ions in chroma.in modifiers （i.e. KDM6a. CREBBPIEP300, SMa.CB1） implica.e ma.y of these genes a. tumor suppressors. The expa.ding sca.e a.d increa.ing ra.e of ma.ine biologica. inva.ions ha.e been documented since the ea.ly 20th century. Besides their globa. ecologica. a.d economic impa.ts, non-indigenous species （NIS） a.so ha.e a.tra.ted much a.tention a. opportunities to explore importa.t eco-evolutiona.y processes such a. ra.id a.a.ta.ion, long-dista.ce dispersa. a.d ra.ge expa.sion, a.d seconda.y conta.ts between divergent evolutiona.y linea.es. In this context, genetic tools ha.e been extensively used in the pa.t 20 yea.s. Three importa.t issues a.pea. to ha.e emerged from such studies. First, the study of NIS ha. revea.ed unexpected cryptic diversity in wha. ha. previously been a.sumed homogeneous entities. Second, there ha. been surprisingly little evidence of strong founder events a.compa.ying ma.ine introductions, a.pa.tern possibly driven by la.ge propa.ule loa.s. Third, the evolutiona.y processes lea.ing to successful inva.ion ha.e been difficult to a.certa.n due to fa.nt genetic signa.s. Here we explore the potentia. of novel tools a.socia.ed with high-throughput sequencing （HTS） to a.dress these still pressing issues. Dra.a.ic increa.e in the number of loci a.cessible via.HTS ha. the potentia. to ra.ica.ly increa.e the power of a.a.yses a.med a. species delinea.ion, exploring the popula.ion genomic consequences of ra.ge expa.sions, a.d exa.ining evolutiona.y processes such a. a.mixture, introgression, a.d a.a.ta.ion. Nevertheless, the va.ue of this new wea.th of genomic da.a.will ultima.ely depend on the a.ility to couple it with expa.ded ＂tra.itiona.＂ efforts, including exha.stive sa.pling of ma.ine popula.ions over la.ge geogra.hic sca.es, integra.ed ta.onomic a.a.yses, a.d popula.ion level explora.ion of qua.tita.ive tra.t differentia.ion through common-ga.den a.d other la.ora.ory experiments.
