The present study focuses on the formulation of new composite consisting of plaster and raffia vinifera particle (RVP) with the purpose to reducing energy consumption. The aim of this study is to test this new compound as an insulating eco-material in building in a tropical climate. The composites samples were developed by mixing plaster with raffia vinifera particles (RVP) using three different sizes (1.6 mm, 2.5 mm and 4 mm). The effects of four different RVP incorporations rates (i.e., 0wt%, 5wt%;10wt%;15wt%) on physical, thermal, mechanicals properties of the composites were investigated. In addition, the use of the raffia vinifera particles and plaster based composite material as building envelopes thermal insulation material is studied by the habitable cell thermal behavior instrumentation. The results indicate that the incorporation of raffia vinifera particle leads to improve the new composite physical, mechanical and thermal properties. And the parametric analysis reveals that the sampling rate and the size of raffia vinifera particles are the most decisive factor to impact these properties, and to decreases in the thermal conductivity which leads to an improvement to the thermal resistance and energy savings. The best improvement of plaster composite was obtained at the raffia vinifera particles size between 2.5 and 4.0 mm loading of 5wt% (C95P5R) with a good ratio of thermo-physical-mechanical properties. Additionally, the habitable cell experimental thermal behavior, with the new raffia vinifera particles and plaster-based composite as thermal insulating material for building walls, gives an average damping of 4°C and 5.8°C in the insulated house interior environment respectively for cold and hot cases compared to the outside environment and the uninsulated house interior environment. The current study highlights that this mixture gives the new composite thermal insulation properties applicable in the eco-construction of habitats in tropical environments

Fossil fuels cover around 80% of global energy consumption. However, the problems linked to their use justify the choice of using biofuel. In order to reduce as much as possible, diesel rate, an increase in the number of additives may be considered. Thus, in this work, the study of the used frying oil (UFO), bioethanol and diesel ternary system was undertaken. It emerges from this study that the addition of bioethanol reduces the viscosity and the density of the ternary system and permits a 90% substitution rate for diesel between the UFO and bioethanol. Finally, the percentage of oil becomes 40% after adding alcohol compared to the binary diesel crude vegetable oil mixture where this rate is 30%.

Rice is one of the most widely cultivated cereals in the world, and its aroma is increasingly in demand. With the advancement of research, a major rice flavor gene has been identified on rice chromosome 8. It encodes non-functional betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase leading to the accumulation of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline which is the major olfactory compound that confers the fragrant character to rice. The aroma of rice is considered a special trait of enormous economic importance that determines the prime price in world trade. To satisfy the needs of the population and reduce rice imports into Benin, we conducted this study to identify aromatic rice accessions grown in Benin. Seventy-two rice accessions collected across Benin were PCR amplified with three SSR markers RM 7049, Aro 7, and RM 223, linked to the fgr (fragrance of rice) aroma gene. Molecular analysis revealed that 12 of the 72 accessions, namely Bagou 19, Bagou 22, Tchaka 34, Foun 15, Tchaka 41, Nana 32, Kan 61, Kung 69, Kung 67, Bagou 20, Agbab 101 and Koum 55 possess the fgr gene and can be considered as aromatic rice accessions. A sensory phenotypic test using KOH was carried out on rice accessions carrying fgr gene. Of the twelve positives, only one had the smell of aromatic rice, like the Azucena control. These results show that Benin also has aromatic rice varieties that can be sold on national and international markets.

低分子量有机酸常对矿物的表面反应(吸附/沉淀)产生影响,从而影响矿物的溶解、矿化等过程,进而影响环境地球化学进程中元素的迁移稳定性。苹果酸作为一种广泛存在于自然界中的有机酸,是植物通过代谢过程分泌的副产品。通过批量平衡法开展了苹果酸对方解石-氟的吸附/沉淀反应的影响研究,旨在深入理解有机酸在地球化学过程中的作用。结果表明:①初始pH值为7.7条件下,对于低浓度氟(≤5 mg·l^(-1)),随着苹果酸浓度的升高,其对氟去除的抑制作用呈增强趋势;对于中、高浓度氟(25或60 mg·l^(-1)),氟去除主导机制为CaF 2沉淀反应,苹果酸的抑制作用对其影响不大,但其表面吸附反应导致pH值升高和钙浓度下降。②初始pH值为8.3条件下,对于低浓度氟(≤20 mg·l^(-1)),苹果酸对氟去除仍有抑制作用;苹果酸与Ca 2+的络合反应促使pH值和钙浓度上升;对于中浓度氟(60 mg·l^(-1)),氟去除主导机制为CaF 2沉淀反应,20 mg·l^(-1)苹果酸已对其产生抑制作用,随着苹果酸浓度继续升高,pH值先降后升,钙浓度持续上升,彰显了苹果酸络合反应的效应;对于高浓度氟(100 mg·l^(-1)),100 mg·l^(-1)苹果酸能极大抑制CaF 2沉淀反应,对应的pH值未超过无苹果酸时,对应的钙浓度仍低于其空白背景值,暗示了CaF 2沉淀反应的主导性。③初始pH值为8.7条件下,对于低浓度氟(≤5 mg·l^(-1)),苹果酸对氟去除的抑制作用有所减弱,但其络合反应产生的效应十分显著,导致pH值和钙浓度上升;对于高浓度氟(240 mg·l^(-1)),氟去除主导机制为CaF 2沉淀反应,该反应随着苹果酸浓度的升高而受到抑制,对应的钙浓度不断上升彰显苹果酸络合反应的效应,而pH值的下降也表明了CaF 2沉淀反应的主导性。本研究深入探讨了氟元素在方解石矿物界面上的吸附、迁移和转化过程,为理解氟的迁移稳定性提供了新的视角和理论基础,同时对富含有机酸环境中方解石矿物的稳定性评估具有重要意义,也为氟在其他矿物上的迁移转化研究提供借鉴。

Background: Pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP) prevents human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) infection, but its use remains low among U.S. military men who have sex with men(MSM), likely due to mis-matching with personal preferences. We conducted a study to characterize preferences to PrEP measures within this ***: HIV-negative military MSM were recruited through a closed, lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered(lGBT) military social media group. The survey was anonymous, and consisted of five experimentally varied attributes in service delivery: dosing method, provider type, visit location, lab work evaluation location, and dispensing *** importance and part-worth utility scores were generated using hierarchical bayes(HB) estimation, and the randomized first choice model was used to examine participation interest across eight possible PrEP program ***: A total of 429 participants completed the survey. Among the eight scenarios with varying attributes, the most preferred scenario featured a daily tablet, PrEP injection or implant, along with a military provider, smartphone/telehealth visit, and on-base locations for lab evaluation and medication pick-up. Objectives: To assess the efficiency in terms of cost-effectiveness (CE) of oral Renalof® treatment versus extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWl) in the treatment of kidney stones ≤ 1 cm in Nicaragua. Methods: A cost-effectiveness economic evaluation was carried out based on the results obtained in the randomised, prospective, observational, single-blind, prospective, phase 2 clinical trial. Cost-effectiveness and the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) were calculated. Economic data were obtained from the Economics Department of Clínica Senior in Managua, Nicaragua. The monetary cost was expressed in US dollars (USD). Results: Treatment with Renalof® yielded a CE of $1,323.08/% remission, while ESWl was $9,498.54/% remission. The ICER shows that, in order to achieve a high percentage of kidney stone remission with ESWl, an extra $4,734.70 per patient must be invested. Conclusions: The use of Renalof® is shown to be a more cost-effective option than ESWl. It is recommended for the treatment of kidney stones ≤ 1 cm in size.
