Day 100 prognostic factors post-autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (APBHSCT) to predict clinical outcomes in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients have not been studied. Thus, we retrospectively examined if day 100 absolute monocyte/lymphocyte prognostic score (AMLPS-100) affects clinical outcomes by landmark analysis from day 100 post-APBHSCT in DLBCL. Only DLBCL patients in complete remission at day 100 post-APBHSCT were evaluated. From 2000 to 2007, 134 consecutive DLBCL patients are qualified for the study. Patients with a day 100 absolute monocyte count (AMC-100) ≥ 630 cells/μL and day 100 absolute lymphocyte count (ALC-100) ≤ 1000 cells/μL experienced inferior overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS). On multivariate analysis, the AMC-100 and ALC-100 remained independent predictors of OS and PFS. Combining both values into the AMLPS-100, the 5-year OS rates for low, intermediate, and high AMLPS-100 risk groups were 94% (95% CI, 83.0% - 98.1%), 70% (95% CI, 58.6% - 80.1%), and 13% (95% CI, 3.4% - 40.5%), respectively;and the 5-year PFS rates were 87% (95% CI, 74.0% - 94.1%), 68% (95% CI, 56.0% - 77.8%), and 13% (95% CI, 3.4% - 40.5%), respectively. The AMLPS-100 is a simple biomarker score that can stratify clinical outcomes from day 100 post-APBHSCT in DLBCL patients.

Interim Positron-Emission Tomography (int-PET) and the peripheral blood absolute lymphocyte/monocyte ratio at di- agnosis (ALC/AMC-DX) have been shown to be predictors for progression-free survival (PFS) and time to progression (TTP) in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). Therefore, we studied if the combination of ALC/AMC-DX and the (int-PET) can further stratified PFS and TTP in cHL patients. Patients were required to be diagnosed, treated, and followed with int-PET at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. From 2000 until 2008, 111 cHL patients qualified for the study. The median follow-up was 2.8 years (range: 0.3 - 10.4 years). Patients with a negative int-PET (N = 98) pre- sented with a higher ALC/AMC-DX (median of 2.32, range: 0.26 - 37.5) compared with patients with a positive int-PET (N = 13) (median of 0.9, range: 0.29 - 3.10), p 1.1. Group 1 experienced superior PFS and TTP in comparison with the other groups. In conclusion, the combination of ALC/AMC-DX and the int-PET provides a simple model to assess clinical outcomes in cHL.

Zero-crossing of a derivative of Gaussian filter is a well-known edge location criterion. Examples are the Laplacian, the second derivative in the gradient direction (SDGD) and the sum of the Laplacian and SDGD (PLUS). Derivative operators can easily be implemented by convoluting the primitive image with a derivative of a Gaussian. Gaussian filter displaces the equipotential of half height inwards for convex edge and outwards for concave edges. A Difference-of-Gaussian (DoG) filter is similar to the Laplacian-of-Gaussian but with opposite sign and causes a convex edge shift inwards. This paper introduces the Multiple-of-Gaussian niters to reduce curvature-based location error. Using a linear combination of N Gaussians(N>2) with proper weights, the edge shifts can be reduced to 1/(2N-3) of the ones produced by a similar Laplacian-of-Gaussian filter.

The interplay between streamwise flow,curvature-induced secondary flow,sediment transport and bed morphology leads to the formation of a typical bar-pool bed morphology in open-channel *** associated scour at the outer bank and deposition at the inner bank may endanger the outer bank’s stability or reduce the navigable width of the *** preliminary laboratory experiments in a sharply curved flume with a fixed horizontal bed have shown that a bubble screen located near the outer bank can generate an additional secondary flow located between the outer bank and the curvature-induced secondary flow and with a sense of rotation opposite to the *** bubble-induced secondary flow redistributes velocities and bed shear *** reported study investigates the implications of a bubble screen on the flow and the morphology in configurations with mobile *** measurements show that the bubble-induced secondary flow shifts the curvature-induced secondary flow in inwards direction and reduces its *** bubble screen considerably reduces morphological *** bend scour is reduced by about 50%and occurs further away from the outer bank where it does not endanger the bank stability *** location of maximum scour coincides with the j.nction of the curvature-induced and bubble-induced secondary *** this same location,the maximum streamwise velocities and maximum vertical velocities impinging on the bed also occur,which indicates their importance with respect to the formation of bend *** bubble screen also substantially reduced deposition at the inner *** preliminary experiments show the potential of a bubble screen to influence and modify the bed morphology.

Purpose: To report a case of bilateral optic disk edema in a patient taking oprelvekin for radioimmunotherapy- induced thrombocytopenia. Design: Observational case report. Me- thods: A 38- year- old man with a history of relapsed non- Hodgkins follicular lymphoma complained of bilateral loss of vision following oprelvekin therapy for thrombocytopenia. Results: Funduscopic examination demonstrated bilateral optic disk edema with exudates inferotemporal to the right nerve. The results of magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and orbits and lumbar puncture were normal. The disk edema resolved with discontinuation of oprelvekin therapy. Conclusions: Oprelvekin therapy may be associated with bilateral optic disk edema. This has been shown to be reversible in a primate model.

Diagnostics are presented from an ensemble of high-resolution forecasts that differed markedly in their predictions of the rapid intensification(RI)of Typhoon *** show that the basic difference stems from subtle differences in initializations of(a)500-850-h Pa environmental winds,and(b)midlevel moisture and *** then describe how these differences impact on the evolving convective organization,storm structure,and the timing of *** expected,ascent,diabatic heating and the secondary circulation near the inner-core are much stronger in the member that best forecasts the *** evolution of vortex cloudiness from this member is similar to the actual imagery,with the development of an inner cloud band wrapping inwards to form the *** present evidence that this structure,and hence the enhanced diabatic heating,is related to the tilt and associated dynamics of the developing inner-core in *** the most accurate ensemble member:(a)inhibition of ascent and a reduction in convection over the up-shear sector allow moistening of the boundary-layer air,which is transported to the down-shear sector to feed a developing convective asymmetry;(b)with minimal ventilation,undiluted clouds and moisture from the down-shear left quadrant are then wrapped inwards to the up-shear left quadrant to form the eyewall cloud;and(c)this process seems related to a critical down-shear tilt of the vortex from midlevels,and the vertical phase-locking of the circulation over up-shear *** the member that forecasts a much-delayed RI,these processes are inhibited by stronger vertical wind shear,initially resulting in poor vertical coherence of the circulation,lesser moisture and larger *** analysis suggests that ensemble prediction is needed to account for the sensitivity of forecasts to a relatively narrow range of environmental wind shear,moisture and vortex inner-structure.

Ion＇s toroidal velocity, vt, in both the outermost 4 cm of the confined region and the scrap-off layer of Ohmic L-mode plasmas in EAST was measured using Mach probes. At about 1 cm inside the separatrix a local minimum in vt was observed, from which a cocurrent rotation increased both inwards and outwards. The radial width of the vt dip was 1 cm to 2 cm, and both the density and electron temperature profiles exhibited steep gradients at this dip position. It was observed in both divertor and limiter configurations. To find out its origin, the toroidal torques induced by neutral friction, neoclassical viscosity, collisional perpendicular shear viscosity, ion orbit loss and turbulent Reynolds stress were estimated using the measured parameters. Our results indicate that in this particular parameter regime the neutral friction was the dominant damping force. The calculated cocurrent toroidal torque by the neoclassical viscosity dominates over those from the collisional perpendicular shear viscosity, ion orbit loss and turbulent Reynolds stress. These results are potentially important for the understanding of boundary conditions for the intrinsic toroidal momentum in tokamak plasmas.
