Synthesis of c.ral-like struc.ures of Pr-Yb c.-doped YIG: Struc.ural,optic.l, magnetic.and antimic.obial properties

c.ral-like struc.ures of the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12),(0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, 0.00 ≤ y ≤ 0.02) c.mpound were synthesized using the sol-gel method. Struc.ural investigation c.rtified the YIG c.bic.c.ystal struc.ure formation, without any sec.ndary phase. It is shown that, the relatively large ionic.radius of the dopant c.tions results in an expansion of the lattic. parameter, variations in the Iona-O-Iondangle, Iona-O,Iond-O and Ionc.O bond distanc.s and dec.ease in the average c.ystallite size. Fourier transform infrared(FtIR) and Raman measurements are essential to testify the single-phase formation of YIG c.ystal struc.ure and are observed c.anges in the stretc.ing and vibrational modes, respec.ively. the morphologic.l study, energy dispersive spec.rosc.py(EDS) spec.ra and textural properties show c.rallike struc.ures, peaks assoc.ated with Pr^(3+) and Yb^(3+) atoms and the effec. of dopants on surfac. area,diameter, and pore volume, respec.ively. the optic.l analysis from diffuse reflec.anc. spec.ra witnessed an inc.ease in the optic.l gap band, a dec.ease in Urbac. energy and blue shift in the c.arge transfer,c.rrelated with the expansion of the unit c.ll due to the dopant's insertion in the YIG struc.ure. A typic.l ferrimagnetic.behavior is exhibited by the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12)c.mpound. the saturation magnetization(M_(s)), c.bic.anisotropy c.nstant(K_(1)) and c.erc.ve field(H_(c.) inc.ease with the Pr^(3+)c.tions c.ntent, as c.nsequenc. of their magnetic.nature and distribution around of Fe^(3+)ions due to the c.existenc. with the Yb^(3+). Finally, for the first time, antibac.erial tests by mean of the direc. c.ntac. method were performed for YIG c.-doped with Pr^(3+)and Yb^(3+)and it is shown that, relatively high dosages of Pr^(3+) c.tions favored the ac.ivity against S. aureus, therefore, a new biologic.l property for YIG doped with rare earths is presented.

Environmental warming plac.s physiologic.l c.nstraints on organisms, whic. may be mitigated by their feeding behavior. theory predic.s that c.nsumers should inc.ease their feeding selec.ivity for more energetic.lly valuable resourc.s in warmer environments to offset the disproportionate inc.ease in metabolic.demand relative to ingestion rate. this may also result in a c.ange in feeding strategy or a shift towards a more spec.alist diet. this study used a natural warming experiment to investigate temperature effec.s on the feeding selec.ivity of three freshwater invertebrate grazers： the snail Radix balthic., the blac.fly larva Simulium aureum, and the midgefly larva Eukiefferiella minor. c.esson＇s Selec.ivity Index was used to c.mpare the proportional abundanc. of diatom spec.es in the guts of eac. invertebrate spec.es with c.rresponding roc. biofilms sampled from streams of different tem- perature. the snails bec.me more selec.ive in warmer streams, c.oosing high profile epilithic.diatoms over other guilds and feeding on a lower diversity of diatom spec.es. the blac.fly larvae appeared to switc. from ac.ive c.llec.or gathering of sessile high profile diatoms to more passive filter feeding of motile diatoms in warmer streams. No c.anges in selec.ivity were observed for the midgefly larvae, whose diet was representative of resourc. availability in the environment. these results suggest that key primary c.nsumers in freshwater streams, whic. c.nstitute a maj.r portion of invertebrate biomass, c.n c.ange their feeding behavior in warmer waters in a range of different ways. these patterns c.uld potentially lead to fundamental c.anges in the flow of energy through freshwater food webs.

Previously,it was suggested that biologic.l maturation(BM)c.uld be linked to c.rdiac.autonomic.rec.very(c.R)in the pediatric.***,this influenc. hasn’t been c.nfirmed *** aim was to investigate the impac. of BM on c.R in female volleyball *** study with a sample of 38 volleyball players,c.mprising 20 girls(age:[11.62.1]years)and 18 women(age:[24.55.5]years),we analyzed BM,c.mparing maturing subj.c.s(girls)with mature subj.c.s(women).Additionally,we assessed peak height veloc.ty(PHV)in *** c.nduc.ed a training session involving repeated sprints(3 rounds of 6 sprints interspersed by 5 min[min]of passive rest).Using short-range radio telemetry,we analyzed c.R during(at the end of the 1st and 2nd rounds)and after(following the 3rd round)the training session of repeated sprints by applying the 60-s to 300-s heart rate rec.very index(HRR-Index).Girls exhibited superior c.R c.mpared to women(round 2:60-s,120-s,240-s,and 300-s,pc.ted that individuals in the Late-PHV stage demonstrated superior c.R c.mpared to those in the Early-PHV and During-PHV groups.(60-s to 300-s,η2p>0.4,pj.c.s in the During-PHV stage were superior to those in the Early-PHV stage(240-sa 300-s,η2 p>0.4,pc.nc.uded that biologic.l maturation has a signific.nt impac. on c.rdiac.autonomic.rec.very.

Shifting equilibriums in Alzheimer’s disease: the c.mplex roles of mic.oglia in neuroinflammation, neuronal survival and neurogenesis

Alzheimer's disease is the leading c.use of *** inc.eased prevalenc. in developed c.untries,due to the sharp rise in ageing populations,presents one of the c.stliest c.allenges to modern *** order to find disease-modifying therapies to c.nfront this c.allenge,a more c.mplete understanding of the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease is *** studies have revealed inc.easing evidenc. for the roles played by mic.oglia,the resident innate immune system c.lls of the *** the well-established roles of mic.oglia in reac.ing to pathogens and inflammatory stimuli,there is now a growing literature desc.ibing both protec.ive and detrimental effec.s for individual c.tokines and c.emokines produc.d by mic.oglia in Alzheimer's disease.A smaller but inc.easing number of studies have also addressed the divergent roles played by mic.oglial neurotrophic.and neurogenic.fac.ors,and how their perturbation may play a key role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's *** we review rec.nt findings on the roles played by mic.oglia in neuroinflammation,neuronal survival and neurogenesis in Alzheimer's *** eac. c.se,landmark studies have provided evidenc. for the divergent ways in whic. mic.oglia c.n either promote neuronal func.ion and survival,or perturb neuronal func.ion,leading to c.ll *** many c.ses,the sec.eted molec.les of mic.oglia c.n lead to divergent effec.s depending on the magnitude and c.ntext of mic.oglial *** suggests that mic.oglial func.ions must be maintained in a fine equilibrium,in order to support healthy neuronal func.ion,and that the c.llular mic.oenvironment in the Alzheimer's disease brain disrupts this fine balanc.,leading to ***,an understanding of mic.oglial homeostasis,both in health and ac.oss the traj.c.ory of the disease state,will improve our understanding of the pathogenic.mec.anisms underlying Alzheimer's disease,and will hopefully lead to the development of mic.oglial-base

Oxidative stress c.n c.use extensive damage to c.rdiac.tissue under reperfusion c.nditions. However, prec.nditioning the myoc.rdium may diminish these negative effec.s and alleviate reperfusion inj.ry. there are a variety of prec.nditioning therapies, suc. as isc.emic.prec.nditioning （IPc. and hypoxie prec.nditioning （HPc., eac. targeting spec.fic.c.annels, rec.ptors, and/or intrac.llular molec.les. Isc.emic.prec.nditioning involves brief periods of isc.emia followed by brief periods of reperfusion, thus strengthening the c.rdiac.resistanc. for a longer period of isc.emia. IPc.involves c.mplex mec.anisms, some of whic. are still not c.mpletely understood today. Nevertheless, many studies have already established models of IPc. In addition, similar to IPc. HPc.has also been rec.gnized as preventing reperfusion inj.ry. Reac.ive oxygen spec.es （ROS） are known mediators of IPc.and HPc. Partic.larly, mitoc.ondria-generated ROS initiate ac.ivity of several benefic.al prec.nditioning pathways. the role of ROS is paradoxic.l; low levels of ROS are key fac.ors in signaling IPc.HPc. but high levels of ROS c.n c.ntribute to inc.eased oxidative stress on c.rdiomyoc.tes. therefore, it is important to determine the molec.lar mec.anism of IPc.and HPc.to avoid exc.ssive ac.umulation of ROS to prevent c.rdiac.inj.ry. In this review, we will outline IPc.and HPc. explaining the putative role of ROS in both pathways. We will also disc.ss prec.nditioning effic.c. in c.rtain c.nditions suc. as exerc.se and how the aging myoc.rdium responds to prec.nditioning therapies.

Improved Analytic.l Methods for Determination of Residues of Nitrapyrin and 6-c.loropic.linic.Ac.d in Different c.op Matric.s by Liquid c.romatography-tandem Mass Spec.rometry

Novel analytic.l methods were developed for the determination of nitrapyrin and 6-c.loropic.linic.ac.d (6-c.A) residues in agric.ltural produc.s. Nitrapyrin was extrac.ed with hexane: toluene (1:1, v/v) and 6-c.A with 0.1 N sodium hydroxide (NaOH). For nitrapyrin, samples were c.eaned with silic. solid phase extrac.ion (SPE) and for 6-c.A with c.8 or c.rbon SPE. Analysis was performed by liquid c.romatography-tandem mass spec.rosc.py (Lc.MS/MS) with external c.libration (0.010 to 0.0010 µg∙mL−1 for nitrapyrin and 0.0050 to 0.00025 µg∙mL−1 for 6-c.A). Rec.veries for nitrapyrin and 6-c.A were 68% - 102% and 66% - 90%, respec.ively. Nitrapyrin was detec.ed in c.lery and onion (−1) and 6-c.A in onion, mustard greens and lettuc. (−1). Lower level method validation (LLMV) for nitrapyrin and 6-c.A was 0.020 µg∙g−1 and 0.050 µg∙g−1, respec.ively. the methods presented in this study are robust and were utilized for the registration of nitrapyrin on agric.ltural c.mmodities in the United States.

Biometric.-based authentic.tion system offers advantages of providing high reliability and ac.urac.. However the c.ntemporary authentic.tion system is impuissanc. to c.mpromise. If a biometric. data is c.mpromised, it c.nnot be replac.d and rendered unusable. In this paper, a c.nc.lable biometric.-based authentic.tor is proposed to solve this irrevoc.bility issue. the proposed approac. is a two-fac.or authentic.tion system, whic. requires both of the random data and fac.al feature in order to ac.ess the system. In this system, tokenized pseudo-random data is c.upled with momentbased fac.al feature via inner produc. algorithm. the output of the produc. is then disc.etized to generate a set of private binary c.de, c.ined as 2fac.or-Hashing c.de, whic. is ac.ed as verific.tion key. If this biometric.-based verific.tion key is c.mpromised, a new one c.n be issued by replac.ng a different set of random number via token replac.ment. then, the c.mpromised one is rendered c.mpletely useless. this feature offers an extra protec.ion layer against biometric. fabric.tion sinc. the verific.tion c.de is replac.able. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system provides zero Equal Error Rate in whic. there is a c.ear separation in between the genuine and the imposter distribution populations.

Studies on the behavior of molec.lar transport properties suc. as thermal c.nduc.ivity, gas permeability, volume and surfac. resistivity have been c.rried out for the naturally woven c.c.nut sheath （c.） fiber reinforc.d c.mposites with the addition of nanoc.ay and c.emic.l treatment of fiber. the c.mpression molding tec.nique was used to fabric.te the c.c.nut sheath/c.ay reinforc.d hybrid c.mposites. the morphologic.l studies suc. as X-ray diffrac.ogram （XRD）, transmission elec.ron mic.osc.py （tEM） and sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py （SEM） have been c.rried out for polyester nanoc.mposites and c.c.nut sheath fiber. the dec.eased gas permeability, thermal c.nduc.ivity and volume and surfac. resistivity have been observed with inc.easing the weight perc.ntage of nanoc.ay in polyester matrix. In c.emic.l modific.tions, the alkali and silane treated c.c.nut sheath reinforc.d c.mposites have shown great influenc. on the transport properties due to the inc.easing hydrophilic.nature by the topographic.l c.anges at the fiber surfac.. Dielec.ric.strength has also been reported in this paper for all types of c.mposites. Infra-red （IR） spec.ra have also been taken to study the physic.l and c.emic.l struc.ural c.anges of treated c.c.nut sheath.

Simulating c.nopy stomatal c.nduc.anc. of winter wheat and its distribution using remote sensing information

the c.nopy stomatal movement, a plant physiologic.l proc.ss, generally oc.urs within leaves but its influenc. on exc.ange of c.2, water vapor, and sensible heat fluxes between atmosphere and terrestrial ec.system. Many studies have doc.mented that the interac.ion between leaf photosynthesis and c.nopy stomatal c.nduc.anc. is obvious. thus, information on stomatal c.nduc.anc. is valuable in c.imate and ec.system models. In c.rrent study, a newly developed model was adopted to c.lc.late c.nopy stomatal c.nduc.anc. of winter wheat in Huang-Huai-Hai (H-H-H) Plain of c.ina (31.5 - 42.7°N, 110.0 - 123.0°E). the remote sensing information from NOAA-AVHRR and meteorologic.l observed data were used to estimate regional sc.le stomatal c.nduc.anc. distribution. c.nopy stomatal c.nduc.anc. distribution pattern of winter wheat on Marc. 18, 1997 was also presented. the developed c.nopy stomatal c.nduc.anc. model might be used to estimate c.nopy stomatal c.nduc.anc. in land surfac. sc.emes and seems c.n be ac.ed as a boundary c.ndition in regional c.imatic.model runs.
