Androgen receptor(AR)is a major transcription factor that plays a role in inflammatory response including interleukin-6(IL6)signaling.1 While AR regulation through paracrine loop signaling in prostate tissue is well-studied,its impact through an IL6 autocrine loop in the lung has not been wellstudied despite the organ's response to respiratory viral infection.Chemical inhibition and RNA knockdown of AR identified a bZIP transcription factor mAF to be a common target of inflammation using these perturbations in lung cells.

The exceptionally low corrosion rate(∼0.1 mm y^(–1)in concentrated NaCl solution for 7 days)enables lean mg-Ca alloys great potential for diverse applications,particularly if relevant properties(e.***.mechanical strength,electrochemical performance,etc.)can be enhanced by thermomechanical processing.However,herein it is demonstrated that the corrosion performance of lean mg-Ca is susceptible to the heating process.The corrosion rate of mg-0.15 wt%Ca alloy is remarkably accelerated after annealing even for a short time(4 h at 400℃)because Fe precipitation readily takes place.Fortunately,it is found that micro-alloying with dedicated additional elements is able to solve this problem.Nevertheless,the problem-solving capability is dependent on the element category,particularly the ability of the alloying element to constrain the Fe precipitation.Among the three studied elements(i.e.Sn,Ge and In),only In shows good competence of restricting the formation of Fe-containing precipitates,thereby contributing to retention of the superior corrosion resistance after annealing even at a rigorous condition(24 h at 450℃).The finding creates good foundation for follow-up work of developing lean mg-Ca-based alloys combining high corrosion resistance,superior electrochemical performance with excellent mechanical properties for applications as biodegradable implants and anode materials for aqueous batteries.

Background:Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)causes a multi-organ systemic damage that can lead to long-term consequences.Little is known about the possible long-term effects of COVID-19 on circulating leukocyte kinetics and functional T-cell activity after recovery.To investigate immune system changes,we designed a cohort study.methods:Volunteer screening and sample collectionwere performed at the Irkutsk Research Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor.Sixty-four volunteers who have had COVID-19(recovered volunteers(RVs))betweenmay 2020 andmay 2021,33 volunteers who had been in contact with COVID-19 patients(contact volunteers(CVs))within the family setting but had not become ill,and 47 healthy volunteers(HVs)participated in the study.We performed immunophenotyping of peripheral blood cells using flow cytometry.Serum was tested for SARS-CoV-2 anti-nucleocapsid immunoglobulin G antibodies by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(Ab(+),people with specific anti-N antibodies to SARS-CoV-2;Ab(−),people without specific antibodies).Results:There were no serious disturbances in the internal environment of the body in RVs and CVs.In the evaluation of the general state of the immune system,the most informative indicator was the index of the ratio of neutrophils to bloodmonocytes–decreased on the 1st terms of observation(1 and 3 months post-symptom onset(PSO)/post-contact onset(PCO)),on average,1.3 times compared with HVs(8.6%(7.5%–10.5%),Pmonth of observation.Redistribution of the cells responsible for the development of the adaptive immune response was noted only in RVs–increased B-lymphocyte content(HVs,9.1%(6.4%–10.2%))and immunoregulatory index ratio(HVs,1.6%(1.2%–2.1%))due to redistribution of T-helper and cytotoxic T cells throughout the follow-up period by an average of 1.2-fold compared with HVs(Pmonth PCO(Ab(+),11.4%(10.2%–15.1%);

Using 172 plates taken with the 40-cm astrograph of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute （Lomonosov moscow University） in 1976-1994 and digitized with a resolution of 2400dpi, we dis- covered and studied 275 new variable stars. We present the list of our new variables with all necessary information concerning their brightness variations. As in our earlier studies, the new discoveries show a rather large number of high-amplitude Delta Scuti variables, predicting that many stars of this type re- main not detected in the whole sky. We also performed automated classification of the newly discovered variable stars based on the Random Forest algorithm. The results of the automated classification were compared to traditional classification and showed that automated classification was possible even with noisy photographic data. However, further improvement of automated techniques is needed, which is especially important when considering the very large numbers of new discoveries expected from all-sky surveys.

This paper presents new results of transmission electron microscopy (TEm), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFm) investigation of the structure-phase compositions of thick (150 μm) coatings on the base of Ni-Cr and Co-Cr deposited by plasma-detonation on steel substrates. The phase structures and morphology of precipitation from solid solution are defined. The microstructure model of a thick plasma detonation coating on steel substrate is developed. The main aim of carrying out these investigations is developing science based recommendations for modification of plasma-detonation coatings by plasma-jet or e-beam.

BACKGROUND Arachidyl amido cholanoic acid(Aramchol)is a potent downregulator of hepatic stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1(SCD1)protein expression that reduces liver triglycerides and fibrosis in animal models of steatohepatitis.In a phase IIb clinical trial in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),52 wk of treatment with Aramchol reduced blood levels of glycated hemoglobin A1c,an indicator of glycemic control.AIm To assess lipid and glucose metabolism in mouse hepatocytes and in a NASH mouse model[induced with a 0.1%methionine and choline deficient diet(0.1mCD)]after treatment with Aramchol.mETHODS Isolated primary mouse hepatocytes were incubated with 20μmol/L Aramchol or vehicle for 48 h.Subsequently,analyses were performed including Western blot,proteomics by mass spectrometry,and fluxomic analysis with 13C-uniformly labeled glucose.For the in vivo part of the study,male C57BL/6J mice were randomly fed a control or 0.1mCD for 4 wk and received 1 or 5 mg/kg/d Aramchol or vehicle by intragastric gavage for the last 2 wk.Liver metabolomics were assessed using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-time of flight-mS for the determination of glucose metabolism-related metabolites.RESULTS Combination of proteomics and Western blot analyses showed increased AmPK activity while the activity of nutrient sensor mTORC1 was decreased by Aramchol in hepatocytes.This translated into changes in the content of their downstream targets including proteins involved in fatty acid(FA)synthesis and oxidation[PACCα/β(S79),SCD1,CPT1A/B,HADHA,and HADHB],oxidative phosphorylation(NDUFA9,NDUFB11,NDUFS1,NDUFV1,ETFDH,and UQCRC2),tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle(mDH2,SUCLA2,and SUCLG2),and ribosome(P-p70S6K[T389]and P-S6[S235/S236]).Flux experiments with 13Cuniformely labeled glucose showed that TCA cycle cataplerosis was reduced by Aramchol in hepatocytes,as indicated by the increase in the number of rounds that malate remained in the TCA cycle.Finally,liver metabolomic analysis showed that glucose homeostasis was improved by Aramcho

Terahertz(THz)NH_(3) lasing with optical pumping by electron-beam-sustained discharge“long”(~100μs)CO_(2) laser pulses was obtained.The NH3laser emission pulses and the“long”pulses of the CO_(2) pump laser were simultaneously measured with nanosecond response time.The NH3 lasing duration and its delay with respect to the pump pulse were measured for various CO_(2) laser pulse energies.For the CO_(2) laser pump line 9R(30),three wavelengths of 67.2,83.8,and 88.9μm were recorded.For the CO_(2) laser pump line 9R(16),only a single NH3 laser line with a wavelength of 90.4μm was detected.

Pancreatic neoplasms have a wide range of pathology, from pancreatic adenocarcinoma to cystic mucinous neoplasms. Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS) with or without fine needle aspiration(FNA) is a helpful diagnostic tool in the work-up of pancreatic neoplasms. Its utility in pancreatic malignancy is well known. Over the last two decades EUS-FNA has become a procedure of choice for diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. EUS-FNA is highly sensitive and specific for solid lesions, with sensitivities as high as 80%-95% for pancreatic masses and specificity as high as 75%-100%. multiple aspects of the procedure have been studied to optimize the rate of diagnosis with EUS-FNA including cytopathologist involvement, needle size, suctioning and experience of endoscopist. Onsite pathology is one of the most important elements in increasing diagnostic yield rate in EUS-FNA. EUS-FNA is valuable in diagnosing rare and atypical pancreatic neoplasms including neuroendocrine, lymphoma and metastatic disease. As more and more patients undergo cross sectional imaging, cystic lesions of the pancreas are becoming a more common occurrence and EUS-FNA of these lesions can be helpful for differentiation. This review covers the technical aspects of optimizing pancreatic neoplasm diagnosis rate, highlight rare pancreatic neoplasms and role of EUS-FNA, and also outline the important factors in diagnosis of cystic lesions by EUS-FNA.
