Nano-sized reinforcements improved the mechanical characteristics efficiently by promoting more implicit particle hardening mechanisms compared to micron-sized ***-sized particles lessen the critical particle solidification velocity for swamp and thus offers better *** the present investigation,the friction stir processing(FSP)is utilized to produce AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)nanocomposites at various tool rotation speeds(i.e.,900,1200,and 1500 rpm)with an optimized 1.5%volume alumina(Al_(2)O_(3))reinforcement *** mechanical and corrosion behavior of AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)-developed nanocomposites was investigated and compared with that of the AZ31 base *** AZ31 alloy experienced a comprehensive dynamic recrystallization during FSP,causing substantial grain ***-size strengthening is the primary factor contributed to the enhancement in the strength of the fabricated *** strength and yield strength values were lower than those for the base metal matrix,although an upward trend in both values has been observed with an increase in tool rotation *** 19.72%increase in hardness along with superior corrosion resistance was achieved compared to the base alloy at a tool rotational speed of 1500 *** corrosion currents(Jcorr)of all samples dropped with increase in the rotational speed,in contrast to the corrosion potentials(Ecorr),which *** values of Jcorr of AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)were 42.3%,56.8%,and 65.5%lower than those of AZ31 alloy at the chosen rotating speeds of 900,1200,and 1500 rpm,*** corrosion behavior of friction stir processed nanocomposites have been addressed in this manuscript which has not been given sufficient attention in the existing ***,this work offers an effective choice for the quality assurance of the FSP process of AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)*** obtained results are relevant to the development of lightweight automobile and aerospace structures and components

BACKGROUND ventriculoperitoneal(vP)shunt placement has become a standard of care procedure in managing hydrocephalus for drainage and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)into the *** pseudocysts containing CSF are the common long-term complication of this frequently performed procedure,mainly because vP shunts have significantly prolonged *** these,liver CSF pseudocysts are rare entities that may cause shunt dysfunction,affect normal organ function,and therefore pose therapeutic *** SUMMARY A 49-year-old man with history of congenital hydrocephalus status post bilateral vP shunt placement presented with progressively worsening dyspnea on exertion,abdominal discomfort/*** computed tomography(CT)scan revealed a large CSF pseudocyst in the right hepatic lobe with the tip of vP shunt catheter into the hepatic cyst *** underwent robotic laparoscopic cyst fenestration with a partial hepatectomy,and repositioning of vP shunt catheter to the right lower quadrant of the ***-up CT demonstrated a significant reduction in hepatic CSF *** A high index of clinical suspicion is required for early detection of liver CSF pseudocysts since their presentation is often asymptomatic and cunning early in the ***-stage liver CSF pseudocysts could have adverse outcomes on the treatment course of hydrocephalus as well as on hepatobiliary *** is paucity of data to define the management of liver CSF pseudocyst in current guidelines due to rare nature of this *** reported occurrences have been managed by laparotomy with debridement,paracentesis,radiological imaging guided fluid aspiration and laparoscopic-associated cyst *** surgery is an additional minimally invasive option in the management of hepatic CSF pseudocyst;however,its use is limited by lack of widespread availability and cost of surgery.

Influence of site conditions on seismic design parameters for foundations as determined via nonlinear site response analysis

Site conditions,including geotechnical properties and the geological setting,influence the near-surface response of strata subjected to seismic *** geotechnical parameters required for the design of foundations include mass density(ρ),damping ratio(β_(s)),shear wave velocity(v_(s)),and soil shear modulus(G_(s)).The values of the last three parameters are sensitive to the level of nonlinear strain induced in the strata due to seismic ground *** this study,the effect of variations in soil properties,such as plasticity index(PI),effective stress(σ′),over consolidation ratio(OCR),impedance contrast ratio(ICR)between the bedrock and the overlying strata,and depth of soil strata over bedrock(H),on seismic design parameters(β_(s),v_(s),and G_(s))was investigated for National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program(NEHRP)site classes C and D,through 1D nonlinear seismic site response *** Morris one-at-a-time(OAT)sensitivity analysis indicated thatβ_(s),v_(s),and G_(s)were significantly influenced by variations in PI,while ICR affectedβ_(s)more than it affected v_(s)and G_(s).However,the influence of H on these parameters was less *** was also found that variations in soil properties influenced seismic design parameters in soil type D more significantly than in soil type *** relationships forβ_(s),v_(s),and G_(s)were derived based on the 1D seismic site response analysis and sensitivity analysis ***β_(s),v_(s),and G_(s)values obtained from the analysis were compared with the corresponding values in NEHRP to determine the similarities and differences between the two sets of *** need to incorporate PI and ICR in the metrics for determiningβ_(s),v_(s),and G_(s)for the seismic design of foundations was highlighted.

This manuscript explores the behavior of a junctionless tri-gate FinFET at the nano-scale region using SiGe material for the *** the analysis,three different channel structures are used:(a)tri-layer stack channel(TLSC)(Si-SiGe-Si),(b)double layer stack channel(DLSC)(SiGe-Si),(c)single layer channel(SLC)(S_(i)).The I−v characteristics,subthreshold swing(SS),drain-induced barrier lowering(DIBL),threshold voltage(v_(t)),drain current(ION),OFF current(IOFF),and ON-OFF current ratio(ION/IOFF)are observed for the structures at a 20 nm gate *** is seen that TLSC provides 21.3%and 14.3%more ON current than DLSC and SLC,*** paper also explores the analog and RF factors such as input transconductance(g_(m)),output transconductance(gds),gain(gm/gds),transconductance generation factor(TGF),cut-off frequency(f_(T)),maximum oscillation frequency(f_(max)),gain frequency product(GFP)and linearity performance parameters such as second and third-order harmonics(g_(m2),g_(m3)),voltage intercept points(vIP_(2),vIP_(3))and 1-dB compression points for the three *** results show that the TLSC has a high analog performance due to more gm and provides 16.3%,48.4%more gain than SLC and DLSC,respectively and it also provides better *** the results are obtained using the visualTCAD tool.

Modulation in the aggregation behavior of bio-surfactants(bile salts), sodium cholate(NaC) and sodium deoxycholate(NaDC) in aqueous solutions of carbohydrates(galactose and lactose) have been investigated by measuring the density(ρ), speed of sound(u) and viscosity(η) of the mixtures at different temperatures293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K. The density and speed of sound data have been used to calculate various volumetric and compressibility parameters such as apparent molar volume(v_φ), isentropic compressibility(κ_s), apparent molar adiabatic compression(κ_(s, φ)) to get a better insight into the micellization mechanism of bile salts. Further, the viscosity data have been studied in the light of relative viscosity(η_r) and viscous relaxation time(τ). Some derived parameters such as free volume(v_f), internal pressure(πi) and molar cohesive energy(MCE) of Na C and Na DC in aqueous solution of saccharides have also been calculated from viscosity data in conjunction with density and speed of sound values. All the calculated and derived parameters provide qualitative information regarding the nature of interactions i.e. solute–solute, solute–solvent and solvent–solvent in the solution.
