AIM: To examine the incidence of hepatitis E(HepE) in individuals with acute liver injury severe enough to warrant treatment at a transplant ***: Hepatitis E virus(HEV) is an emerging pathogen in developed countries causing severe illness, particularly in immunocompromised patients or those with underlying chronic liver disease. HepE infection isoften under diagnosed, as clinicians can be reluctant to test patients who have not travelled to regions traditionally considered hyperendemic for HepE. There are few data regarding the significance of HEV in patients with very severe acute liver injury in developed countries. Eighty patients with acute severe liver injury attending the Scottish Liver Transplant unit were tested for HEV and anti-HEV IgG and IgM. Severe acute liver injury was defined as a sudden deterioration in liver function confirmed by abnormal liver function tests and coagulopathy or presence of hepatic encephalopathy. Eighty percent of these patients were diagnosed with paracetomol overdose. No patients had a history of chronic or decompensated chronic liver disease at time of sampling. IgG positive samples were quantified against the World Health Organization anti-HEV IgG standard. Samples were screened for HEV viral RNA by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain ***: Four cases of hepatitis E were identified. Three of the four cases were only diagnosed on retrospective testing and were initially erroneously ascribed to drug-induced liver injury and decompensated chronic liver disease, with the cause of the decompensation uncertain. One case was caused by HEV genotype 1 in a traveller returning from Asia, the other three were autochthonous and diagnosed on retrospective testing. In two of these cases(where RNA was detected) HEV was found to be genotype 3, the most prevalent genotype in developed countries. A Generic Battery Model and Its Parameter Identification

A new dynamic model is developed in this paper based on the generic MATLAB battery model. The battery capacity is expressed as a function of the self-discharge rate, the discharge current, the cycling life and the temperature of the battery. The dependence of the model parameters on cycle life and temperature are estimated from the first order approximation. The detailed procedures and formula to extract the model parameters are presented and the extraction relies only on the discharge curves at two different discharge currents, at two different life cycles, and at two different temperatures. These discharge curves are typically provided in the battery manufacturer’s datasheet. The proposed model is verified for both nickel-metal hydride and lithium-ion batteries by comparing the calculated discharge curves with the results from the generic MATLAB model. The model is further validated for the Sinopoly lithium-ion battery (SP-LFP1000AHA) by comparing the model results with the discharge curves from the manufacturer’s datasheet at different discharge currents, different cycling numbers, and different temperatures. Simulation results show that the new model can correctly predict voltage separation beyond the nominal zone while maintaining the same level of accuracy as the generic MATLAB model in the exponential and nominal zones.

The in silico prediction of peptide binding affinities to MHC proteins is a very important first step in the process of epi-tope-based vaccine design and development. Five MHC class II binding prediction servers were combined in different ways and the resulting performance of these combinations was evaluated using a test set, which consisted of 4540 known HLA-DRB1 binders. The five servers were: NetMHCIIpan, NetMHCII, ProPred, RANKPEP, and EpiTOP. The top 5% of the ranked predictions from each server were combined using union and intersection operators. The outputs were evaluated in terms of sensitivity and positive predictive value (PPV). The union operator showed high sensitivity (65-79%) and low PPVs (6-8%), while intersection outputs had low sensitivities (4-41%) yet significantly higher PPVs (14-31%). Thus there is a defining trade-off between sensitivity and PPV for each combination. The union of outputs from different servers brings more “noise” than “signal” to the resulting set of predicted binders. Conversely, selecting only commonly predicted binders increases the probability that an identified binder is a true binder.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)has shown to be effective in management of colorectal neoplasm in the Asian countries,while its implementation in Western countries where endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)is preferred is still *** To compare the surgical,histological,and oncological outcomes between ESD and EMR in the treatment of colorectal polyps,with subgroup analysis comparing the efficacy of ESD and EMR between Japan and the rest of the *** Embase and Medline databases were searched from inception to October 2020 in accordance with PRISMA guidelines for studies comparing en bloc,complete resection,margin involvement,resection time,need for additional surgery,complications,and recurrence rate of ESD with *** Of 281344 colorectal polyps from 21 studies were *** compared to EMR,the pooled analysis revealed ESD was associated with higher en bloc and complete resection rate,and lower lateral margin involvement and *** led to increased procedural time,need for additional surgery,and perforation *** significant difference in bleeding risk was found between the two ***-regression analysis suggested only right colonic polyps correlated with an increased perforation risk in *** including polyp size and invasion depth did not significantly influence the en bloc and complete resection rate,bleeding risk and *** subgroup analysis,Japan performed better than the rest of the world in both ESD and EMR with perforation risk of 4%and 0.0002%,respectively,as compared to perforation risk of 8%and 1%,respectively,in reports coming from rest of the *** ESD resulted in better resection outcomes and lower recurrence compared to *** appropriate training,ESD is preferred over EMR as the first-line therapy for resection of colorectal polyps,without restricting to lesions greater than 20 mm and those with high suspicion of submucosal invasion.

采用中子衍射法对热机械疲劳后的单晶镍基高温合金样品内部中心点进行了实验测量,数据处理采用了双相叠加峰和单峰分析两种方法,计算得到了样品材料的宏观等效应力、应力偏量、γ相和γ′相的等效应力和晶格错配度等.实验结果表明,两种分析方法得到的宏观等效应力基本一致.在热机械疲劳循环100周出现最大宏观等效应力和应力偏量,此时位错等微缺陷达到饱和,偏离中心点处γ′相应力减小显著;在热机械疲劳开始阶段负错配度明显减小,随循环周次增多基体塑性应变累积又使负错配度以每次8.1×10-6的速度逐渐线形增大.

This study addressed the impacts of the 2008 US recession on water extraction rates from the Ogallala Aquifer in the Southern High Plains of Texas by examining the differences in projected macroeconomic variables and how they impact agricultural production and irrigation water use. The approach used pre- and post-recession FAPRI-based projections of commodity markets and an economic optimization model formulated for the Ogallala Aquifer to simulate water use adjustments. Results indicate that, based on the projections used, the 2008 recession decreased, then increased water use slightly in the representative counties, ceteris paribus, with minimal cumulative effect, and water use responsiveness to economic forces within the region was variable. This analysis also demonstrates that relating policy and economic changes to resource use changes is possible.
