Flexible strip supercapacitors are developed and their electrochemical properties are characterized. Activated carbon is used as the electrode material and it is found to have a good porous structure which provides a large surface area for energy ***, this activated carbon performs well. The manufacturing processes for the supercapacitors are described in detail and the preparation process has good reproducibility. The strip supercapacitors are combined in series and parallel to measure their electrical properties. The performances of these two samples in series or in parallel both follow the theoretical models. The electrochemical potential window of a series circuit of these two strip supercapacitors is 4.8 V. The energy and power of the series or parallel circuits are equal to the sums of the two strip supercapacitors.

Aim： To test the hypothesis that levels of sperm disomy fell significantly in six men treated by traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）. Methods： Fluorescence in situ hybridization （FISH） was done on the sperm heads of six men before and during treatment by TCM. Results： There was a significant reduction in sperm disomy in all six men. This coincided with TCM treatment. Conclusion： This is the first study reporting a significant reduction in sperm disomy in men over a given time course. The fact that this coincided with TCM treatment is intriguing but no conclusions can be drawn from this until placebo-controlled clinical trials are implemented.

Cellulose nanocrystal(CNC)with distinctive shape-morphology,enhanced thermal stability and dispersibility is essential for overcoming the challenges in processing polymer/CNC nanocom-posites through melt compounding at elevated *** study shows a mixed acid hy-drolysis method to produce CNC with improved thermal stability and high *** use of phosphoric acid(H_(3)PO_(4)),as a mild acid,in combination with a strong acid either sulphuric acid(H_(2)SO_(4))or hydrochloric acid(HCl)leads to reduced use of strong acids and low impact on our *** influences of acid combination and sequence of addition on the production yield were investigated by retaining the proportion of H_(3)PO_(4)to corrosive acid(H_(2)SO_(4)and HCl)4 to 1,and solid to liquid ratio 1꞉*** methodology has enabled to isolate CNC with higher thermal stability,dispersibility and productivity in terms of amount acid used 1 g of CNC,as compared with single acid *** CNC produced using the combination of H_(3)PO_(4)and HCl exhibits high thermal stability,dispersibility and rod-like shape morphology with length and width of(424±86)and(22±3)nm,***,this approach has reduced H_(3)PO_(4)consumption by 54%as compared with single acid hydrolysis method for the production of same amount of CNC.

The last decade has seen transcatheter aortic valve implantation （TAVI） emerge as the standard of care for patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis deemed to be either at excessiveor high-risk for surgical aortic valve replacement （SAVR）. AIM To determine technical considerations and radiographic outcomes of the Synthes volar rim distal radius plate to treat complex intra-articular fractures. METHODS This review highlights technical considerations learnt using this implant since it was introduced in a major trauma unit in November 2011, including anatomical reduction and whether this was maintained radiographically. RESULTS Twenty-six of the 382 internally fixed distal radial fractures at our unit(6.8%) were deemed to require this plate in order to achieve optimal fracture fixation between November 2011 and May 2014. A further dorsal and/or radial plate was necessary in 35% and variable angle screws were used in 54% of cases. Postoperatively, mean radial height, inclination, volar tilt and ulnar variance restored were 11.7 mm, 21o, 4.3o and-1.2 mm respectively. There were no cases of non-union or flexor/extensor tendon rupture; one case of loss of fracture reduction. Overall incidence of plate removal was 15% with one plate removed for flexor and one for extensor tendon irritation CONCLUSION The use of a rim plate enables control of challenging fardistal fracture patterns. However, additional plates were required to improve and maintain reduction. Variable angle screws were necessary in half the cases to avoid intra-articular screw penetration. If used judiciously, this implant can achieve stable fixation despite the complexity of the fracture pattern.

BACKGROUND While clinical guidelines recommend hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)surveillance for at-risk individuals,reported surveillance rates in the United States and Europe remain disappointingly *** To quantify HCC surveillance in an Australian cohort,and assess for factors associated with surveillance *** All patients undergoing HCC surveillance liver ultrasounds between January 1,2018 to June 30,2018 at a tertiary hospital in Melbourne,Australia,were followed until July 31,2020,or when surveillance was no longer *** primary outcome was the percentage of time up-to-date with HCC surveillance(PTUDS).Quantile regression was performed to determine the impact of factors associated with HCC surveillance *** Among 775 at-risk patients followed up for a median of 27.5 months,the median PTUDS was 84.2%(IQR:66.3%-96.3%).85.0%of patients were followed up by specialist *** those receiving specialist care,quantile regression demonstrated differential associations at various quantile levels of PTUDS for several *** age at the 25th quantile(estimate 0.002 per percent,P=0.03),and cirrhotic status at the 75th quantile(estimate 0.021,P=0.017),were significantly associated with greater percentage of time *** ethnicity(estimate-0.089,P=0.048)and a culturally and linguistically diverse(CALD)background(estimate-0.063,P=0.01)were significantly associated with lower PTUDS at the 50th quantile,and again for CALD at the 75th quantile(estimate-0.026,P=0.045).CONCLUSION While median PTUDS in this Australian cohort study was 84.2%,awareness of the impact of specific factors across PTUDS quantiles can aid targeted interventions towards improved HCC surveillance.
