An attempt has been made to study the influence of wear parameters like applied load, sliding speed, sliding distance and percentage of reinforcement on the dry sliding wear of the metal matrix composites. A plan of experiments, based on techniques of Taguchi, was performed to acquire data in controlled way. An orthogonal array and the analysis of variance were employed to investigate the influence of process parameters on the wear of composites. The objective is to establish a correlation between dry sliding wear of composites and wear parameters. These correlations were obtained by multiple regressions. Finally, confirmation tests were conducted to verify the experimental results foreseen from the mentioned correlations.

Precise control over light-matter interactions is critical for many optical manipulation and material characterization methodologies,further playing a paramount role in a host of nanotechnology ***,the fundamental aspects of interactions between electromagnetic fields and matter have yet to be established unequivocally in terms of an electromagnetic momentum ***,we use tightly focused pulsed laser beams to detect bulk and boundary optical forces in a dielectric *** the optical convoluted signal,we decouple thermal and nonlinear optical effects from the radiation forces using a theoretical interpretation based on the Microscopic Ampère force *** is shown,for the first time,that the time-dependent pressure distribution within the fluid chiefly originates from the electrostriction *** results shed light on the contribution of optical forces to the surface displacements observed at the dielectric air-water interfaces,thus shedding light on the long-standing controversy surrounding the basic definition of electromagnetic momentum density in matter.

The celebrated Majorana representation is exploited to investigate spin squeezing in different classes of pure symmetric states of N qubits with two distinct spinors, namely the Dicke-class of states. On obtaining a general expression for spin squeezing parameter, the variation of squeezing for different configurations is studied in detail. it is shown that the states in the Dicke-class, characterized by two-distinct non-orthogonal spinors, exhibit squeezing.

sixty-six accessions belonging to Avena species(A. atlantica, A. canariensis, A. clauda, ***, A. hirtula, A. longiglumis, A. wiestii, A. agadiriana, A. barbata, A. vaviloviana, ***, A. magna, A. murphyi, ***, A. ludoviciana, A. occidentalis, A. sterilis, A. sativa, and A. byzantina) obtained from the N. i. Vavilov institute of Plant genetic Resources(ViR) were tested for the infection of grain by Alternaria and Cladosporium at the genus level and by a group of trichothecene-producing Fusarium fungi. Real-time PCR was performed to quantify fungal abundance and ELisA was performed for mycotoxin analysis in grain. The average amounts of all tested fungi in tetraploid Avena species were higher than those in diploid and hexaploid species. Low amounts of deoxynivalenol(DON) were detected in seven hexaploid genotypes(A. sterilis, A. byzantina, A. sativa, and A. fatua) and one diploid genotype(***). The relationship between some morphological traits(1000-grain weight, percent of husk, trichome density, and plant height) of Avena species and grain infection by fungi and mycotoxins was investigated. Alternaria and Cladosporium fungi could not penetrate the husk. A highly negative correlation of the amounts of their DNA with the proportions of husk in grain as well as with trichome density was found. in contrast, a significant positive correlation between the amount of Fusarium DNA and these traits was found. A strong negative correlation bctween plant height and DNA of the analyzed fungi was found. The oats least infected by Alternaria, Cladosporium, and Fusarium fungi and containing low amounts of DON were accessions of the hexaploids A. byzantina, ***, A. sativa, A. sterilis,and the diploid A. lwiestii.

The effect of egg shell powder(Es) as an environmental friendly inhibitor was studied for its corrosion inhibitive tendency on N08904 austenitic stainless steel in simulated saline(3.5% NaCl) solution using potentiodynamic polarization, weight loss, and sEM/EDX at room temperature. The experimental data explained the effective performance of Es with values of 57%-100% inhibition efficiency, at 2 g-10 g inhibitor concentration from weight loss tests due to the inhibition of stainless steel. The electrochemical action was as a result of the ionized particles which inhibit the compound influencing the redox reaction mechanism causing surface corrosion. Es's best performance was achieved when 6 g of the inhibitor concentration was added to the saline medium. Corrosion rate value decreased progressively with the presence of inhibitor because of anions adsorption at the interface of the metal film. Corrosion potential(Ecorr) value was found to decrease from-0.3991 V to-0.3447 V in the presence of inhibitor at 2 g concentration, decreasing gradually to-0.2048 at 6 g inhibitor concentration. The compounds identified in the Es completely adsorbed onto the surface of stainless steel as observed from the EDX analysis. The Es adsorption on stainless steel surface obeyed Langmuir adsorption isotherm. A corroded morphology with pits was observed in the sEM results without Es which contrast the images obtained with the presence of Es.

The modification of land use is known to be a major climate change driver to the local warming and air quality in cities. Despite the reduction of NOx over the years, the selangor state has captured a higher level of O_3 in year 2011. The measurement result has shown that the surge in O_3 level was attributed to the reduction of NO_x/NMHC ratio. This paper hence attempted to identify the role of land use change from 1999 to 2011 on the ground ozone air quality in the tropical urban conurbation, greater Kuala Lumpur(gKL), selangor, Malaysia. With the state-of-the-art chemical weather prediction tool, WRFChem, the external synoptic factors and emission inventory were controlled when comparing the chronological land use changes. The results showed that the urban-induced temperature and wind bias in the tropical region has induced stronger wind to disperse the NO_x and carries the TVOC from the suburban to the downwind urban region. The reduction of NO_x/TVOC has gradually shifted towards the optimum O_3 formation regime in 2011. The formation of highly concentrated ozone becomes more sensitive to the increment of TVOC as the NO_x level reduces in the urban. This highlights the essential involvement of TVOC in the ozone formation in lieu of the NOx reduction in the tropical city, a region with growing emitter of reactive biogenic ozone precursors.
