Determining the cause and nature of the postmortem processes that living organisms experience is one of the main common issues faced by forensic experts,zooarchaeologists,palaeontologists,and other *** are among the most destructive agents that can interact with a corpse,since their feeding behaviour can lead to very extensive alterations,complicating the diagnostic identification of which carnivore species was responsible for the death of an individual,a livestock unit,or the formation of a fossil *** though some currently available techniques enable forensic experts to undertake a differential diagnosis of carnivore agency from corpse examination.

Receiver tube heat transfer analysis of a CCP collector designed based on branched fractals geometry

For the development of systems related to renewable energy and specifically for thermo-solar energy,it is essential to study and analyze the different thermal phenomena of heat transfer,in search of the best conditions that allow strengthening the *** such as radiation,convection,and conduction are highly studied,from the field of materials to the field of infrastructure,finding day to day optimal solutions that guarantee a great use of the solar resource available on the earth's *** study presented the results of heat transfer analysis on a receiver pipe in a CCP;designed using the theory of branched fractal geometry to improve the heat transfer associated with concentrating solar capture systems.A fractal structure as a branch or arboreal fractal type network,influenced thermal and electrical parameters,as electrical resistance,thermal resistance,and convective heat transfer,so increasing the level branch heat transfer can be enhancement along of the *** use of renewable energies in agriculture benefits the industrial processes that require a continuous power system,due to climatic conditions and geographical location is not a guarantee in food production fields,which reason solar capture systems contribute to food dehydration processes,water heating,refrigeration,and energy production.

The myelin sheath is a lipoprotein-rich,multilayered structure capable of increasing conduction velocity in central and peripheral myelinated nerve *** to the complex structure and composition of myelin,various histological techniques have been developed over the centuries to evaluate myelin under normal,pathological or experimental ***,methods to assess myelin integrity or content are key tools in both clinical diagnosis and neuroscience *** this review,we provide an updated summary of the composition and structure of the myelin sheath and discuss some histological procedures,from tissue fixation and processing techniques to the most used and practical myelin histological staining *** the lipoprotein nature of myelin,the main features and technical details of the different available methods that can be used to evaluate the lipid or protein components of myelin are described,as well as the precise ultrastructural techniques.

Patterns and drivers of tree carbon stocks in Kashmir Himalayan forests:implications for climate change mitigation

Background:Temperate forests are major carbon sinks because of their high storage potential and low decomposi-tion *** quantified tree carbon(TC)storage from 143 plots distributed across three major forest types of Kashmir Himalaya,relative to differences in ecological *** regression and Random Forest(RF)analysis were used to examine the distribution of TC stock along ecological gradients and recognize the role of driving factors on TC ***:Among the three forest types,sub-alpine(SA)forest was the primary TC sink,accounting for 228.73 t ha^(−1)of carbon,followed by mixed conifer(MC;181.29 t C ha^(−1))and blue pine(BP;133.04 t C ha^(−1))*** distribution of TC stocks among the three forest types differed significantly(χ^(2)=18.87;P=0.000).Relative carbon stock analysis demonstrated that Abies pindrow and Pinus wallichiana accounted 91%of TC stocks across the *** area,mean diameter at breast height(DBH),elevation,disturbance and precipitation had significant effects on TC stocks in bivariate regression *** RF model explained 86%of the variation;basal area interpreted 30.15%,followed by mean DBH(17.96%),disturbance complex(10.64%),precipitation(8.00%)and elevation(7.34%).Conclusions:Kashmir Himalayan forests are significant carbon sinks as they store a substantial quantum of carbon in *** carbon,an essential climatic indicator,is determined by a complex interaction of other ecological vari-ables,particularly stand structural *** study provides insights into the role of these natural forests in climate change mitigation and in REDD+/national commitments to offset the carbon.

New approaches to identification and characterization of tioconazole in raw material and in pharmaceutical dosage forms

Tioconazole(TCZ), a broad-spectrum antifungal agent, has significant activity against Candida albicans and other Candida species, and therefore, it is indicated for the topical treatment of superficial *** main goal of this work is to report an exhaustive identification and characterization procedure to improve and facilitate the online quality control and continuous process monitoring of TCZ in bulk material and loaded in two different dosage forms: ovules and nail lacquer. The methodologies were based on thermal(differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), melting point, and thermogravimetry(TG)),spectroscopic(ultraviolet(UV), Raman, near infrared(NIR), infrared spectroscopy coupled to attenuated total reflectance(FTIR-ATR), and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)), microscopic and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The TCZ bulk powder showed a high crystallinity, as observed by XRD, with a particles size distribution(3–95 mm) resolved by microscopic measurements. TCZ melting point(82.8 °C) and a degradation peak centered at 297.8 °C were obtained by DSC and DTG, respectively. An unambiguous structure elucidation of TCZ was obtained by mono-and two-dimensional1 H and13 C NMR spectral data analysis. The FTIR-ATR, Raman and NIR spectra of both the raw material and the commercial products were analyzed and their characteristic bands were tabulated. The best methods for TCZ identification in ovules were DSC, TG, XRD, NIR and Raman, while NIR and FTIR-ATR were the most appropriate techniques to analyze it in the nail lacquer. DSC, TG, DRX, Raman, FTIR-ATR and NIR spectroscopy are effective techniques to be used in online process analysis, because they do not require sample preparation, and they are considerably sensitive to analyze complex samples.

“Sitting-up vertigo as an expression of posterior semicircular canal heavy cupula and posterior semicircular canal short arm canalolithiasis”

Background:Vestibular symptoms on sitting-up are frequent on patients seen by vestibular ***,a benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV)variant which elicits vestibular symptoms with oculomotor evidence of posterior semicircular canal(P-SCC)cupula stimulation on sitting-up was described and named sitting-up vertigo BPPV.A periampullar restricted P-SCC canalolithiasis was proposed as a causal ***:To describe new mechanisms of action for the sitting-up vertigo BPPV ***:Eighteen patients with sitting-up vertigo BPPV were examined with a pre-established set of positional maneuvers and follow-up until they resolved their symptoms and clinical ***:All patients showed up-beating torsional nystagmus(UBTN)and vestibular symptoms on coming up from either Dix-Hallpike(DHM)or straight head-hanging *** out of 18 patients presented a sustained UBTN with an ipsitorsional component to the tested side on half-Hallpike maneuver(HH).A slower persistent contratorsional down-beating nystagmus was found in eleven out18 patients tested on nose down position(ND).Conclusions:Persistent direction changing positional nystagmus on HH and ND positions indicative of PSCC heavy cupula was found in 11 patients.A sustained UBTN on HH with the absence of findings on ND,which is suggestive of the presence of P-SCC short arm canalolithiasis,was found on 5 *** patients were treated with canalith repositioning maneuvers without success,but they resolved their findings by means of Brandt-daroff *** propose P-SCC heavy cupula and P-SCC short arm canalolithiasis as two new putative mechanisms for the sitting-up vertigo BPPV variant.

Generalized Derivations in Rings with Involution

The main purpose of this paper is to study generalized derivations in rings with involution which behave like strong commutativity preserving mappings. In fact, we prove the following result： Let R be a noncommutative prime ring with involution of the second kind such that char（R） ≠ 2. If R admits a generalized derivation F ： R → R associated with a derivation d ： R → R such that [F（x）,F（x＊）] - [x,x＊] = 0 for all x ∈ R, then F（x）= x for all x ∈ R or F（x） = -x for all x ∈ R. Moreover, a related result is also obtained.

Payenia Quaternary flood basalts(southern Mendoza, Argentina)：Geophysical constraints on their volume

The Quaternary volcanic province of Payenia is located in southern Mendoza and northern Neuquén provinces of Argentina and is characterized by a dominant basaltic composition. The volcanic province covers an area larger than 40,000 km2 and its origin and evolution has been the center of several *** this study we analyzed gravity data together with more accurate volcanic volumes calculations in order to investigate the subsurface structure of the Payenia volcanic province. The volume of material was calculated using digital elevation models and geographic information system（GIS） techniques to estimate the volume of material erupted and then, with those values, make an estimation of the intrusive material that could be located within the crust. The results of the calculations were compared with different 2D-sections constructed to model the gravity data and compare with the observed satellite gravity. After evaluating different models which have been generated to match both： the observed gravity data and the subsurface material calculated, we discuss those that best fit with observation. The results clearly indicate that the lithosphere is attenuated below the region.

Improved hybrid position/force controller design of a flexible robot manipulator using a sliding observer

An improved hybrid position/force controller design of a flexible robot manipulator is presented using a sliding observer. The friction between the end effector and the environment is considered and compensated. For systematic reasons the controller is designed taking into consideration the rigid link subsystems and the flexible joints. The proposed control system satisfies the stability of the two subsystems and copes with the uncertainty of robot dynamics. A sliding observer is designed to estimate the time derivative of the torque applied as input to the rigid part of the robot. For the stability of the observer, it is assumed that the uncertainty of the observed system is bounded. A MRAC algorithm is used for the estimation of the friction forces at the contact point between the end effector and the environment. Finally simulation and experimental results are given, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
