Projections of summer light rain frequency in typical terrain over eastern China under wind speed constraint

The variation in near-surface wind speed is a key dynamic parameter in the orographic effect of precipitation over eastern China.In this study,we used the latest high-resolution outputs from six GCMs in CMIP6-HighResMIP to evaluate the performance of high-resolution models in simulating the orographic precipitation characteristics of typical mountainous areas in summer over eastern China.The orographic precipitation under warming scenarios was projected and constrained according to observational data.The results indicated that during the contemporary climate reference period(1979-2009),although the relationship between model-simulated near-surface wind speed and orographic light rain frequency was consistently stable,the sensitivity of the orographic light rain frequency to surface wind variability was generally underestimated,with a deviation approximately 24.1% lower than the observational values.The estimated orographic light rain frequency corrected based on the observed near-surface wind speed under a 1.5℃ warming scenario,was 36.1% lower than that of the contemporary period;this reduction was 8.6 times that without the wind speed constraint(4.2%).The MRI-AGCM3-2-S model,with a longer dataset,demonstrated relatively stable reductions in orographic light rain frequency under different warming scenarios(1.5℃,2℃,3℃,and 4℃)after the application of wind speed constraints.In all cases,the reductions exceeded those for the predictions made without the wind speed constraint.

We investigated the real-time pricing demand response management system of multiple microgrids and multiple power users. Accordingly, we have proposed a Stackelberg-evolutionary joint game framework to examine the real-time pricing scheme of multiple microgrids and multiple power users so as to establish equilibrium strategies. Both a non-cooperative game among multiple microgrids and a multipopulation evolutionary game among multiple power users were considered. Furthermore, we constructed a Stackelberg game between microgrids and power users to reflect their sequential interaction, wherein the microgrids are leaders, and the power users are followers. We also proved the existence and uniqueness of the Stackelberg equilibrium. Furthermore, we proposed an iterative algorithm to compute the equilibrium strategy and demonstrate the convergence and effectiveness through numerical simulations, which demonstrated that the algorithm could achieve a balance between power supply and demand balance.

The aim of quantum metrology is to exploit quantum effects to improve the precision of parameter estimation beyond its classical limit. In this paper, we investigate the quantum parameter estimation problem with multiple channels. It is related but not limited to the following two important and practical quantum metrology problems:(i) Quantum enhanced metrology with control, whose aim is to improve the precision of quantum sensing by utilizing feedback or open-loop control;(ii) Practical quantum metrology where the underlying evolution of quantum probes may change from a unitary dynamics to an open system dynamics,owing to the inevitable decoherence during the quantum sensing operation. For various kinds of quantum multiple channels, the corresponding quantum channel Fisher information is derived. To demonstrate the results, some illustrative examples are given.

This work conducts robust H^(∞)analysis for a class of quantum systems subject to perturbations in the interaction Hamiltonian.A necessary and sufficient condition for the robustly strict bounded real property of this type of uncertain quantum system is proposed.This paper focuses on the study of coherent robust H^(∞)controller design for quantum systems with uncertainties in the interaction Hamiltonian.The desired controller is connected with the uncertain quantum system through direct and indirect couplings.A necessary and sufficient condition is provided to build a connection between the robust H^(∞)control problem and the scaled H^(∞)control problem.A numerical procedure is provided to obtain coefficients of a coherent controller.An example is presented to illustrate the controller design method.

Learning control has been recognized as a powerful approach in quantum information technology. In this paper, we extend the application of differential evolution （DE） to design optimal control for various quantum systems. Various DE methods are introduced and analyzed, and EMSDE featuring in equally mixed strategies is employed for quantum control. Two classes of quantum control problems, including control of four-level open quantum ensembles and quantum superconducting systems, are investigated to demonstrate the performance of EMSDE for learning control of quantum systems. Numerical results verify the effectiveness of the FMSDE method for various quantum systems and show the potential for complex quantum control problems.

Quantum technology is recognized as one of the most promising directions for our future technologies. By exploiting the unique features of quantum effects, emerging quantum technology is rapidly progressing around the world including quantum computation, quantum communication, quantum metrology and quantum simulation. The development of quantum control plays a grounding role in enabling the preservation and manipulation of quantum states that are used in various quantum technologies. This special issue will focus on new development in relevant topics of estimation and control methods in quantum systems, and provide a forum for idea exchange in this dynamic research area. Particularly, lan R. Petersen, a key figure in the development of robust and quantum control theory, just turned 60 in the past year. We propose to celebrate this occasion with this special issue on quantum control, one of his main research focuses in the last fifteen years.

Looking upon every encoding state of quantum information systems as a quantum information pattern, A kind of pattern-distance between different patterns as a measurement of comparability of quantum information patterns is defined, and two kinds of recognition algorithms based on pattern-distance for quantum information are proposed. They can respectively recognize quantum information with known objective pattern and unknown objective pattern. In the two algorithms, the phases and occurrence probabilities of different eigenpattems of quantum information are sufficiently considered. Two examples demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the two recognition methods. These algorithms point out a new and important path for applications of quantum information and pattern recognition.
