This review gives a brief insight into the role of mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress in the converging pathogenic processes involved in Parkinson’s disease(PD).Mitochondria provide cellular energy in the form of ATP via oxidative phosphorylation,but as an integral part of this process,superoxides and other reactive oxygen species are also *** free radical production contributes to oxidative *** have evolved to handle such stress via various endogenous anti-oxidant *** such family of proteins is the mitochondrial uncoupling proteins(UCPs),which are anion carriers located in the mitochondrial inner *** are five known homologues(UCP1 to 5),of which UCP4 and 5 are predominantly expressed in neural *** a series of previous publications,we have shown how these neuronal UCPs respond to 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium(MPP+;toxic metabolite of MPTP)and dopamine-induced toxicity to alleviate neuronal cell death by preserving ATP levels and mitochondrial membrane potential,and reducing oxidative *** also showed how their expression can be influenced by nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-B)signaling pathway specifically in ***,we previously reported an interesting link between PD and metabolic processes through the protective effects of leptin(hormone produced by adipocytes)acting via UCP2 against MPP+-induced *** is increasing evidence that these endogenous neuronal UCPs can play a vital role to protect neurons against various pathogenic stresses including those associated with *** expression,which can be induced,may well be a potential therapeutic target for various drugs to alleviate the harmful effects of pathogenic processes in PD and hence modify the progression of this disease.

High-entropy alloy(HEA)-based materials are expected to be promising oxygen electrocatalysts due to their exceptional *** electronic structure regulation of HEAs plays a pivotal role in enhancing their elctrocatalytic ***,PtFeCoNiMn nanoparticles(NPs)with subtle lattice distortions are constructed on metal-organic framework-derived nitrogen-doped carbon by an ultra-rapid Joule heating *** to the modulated electronic structure and the inherent cocktail effect of HEAs,the as-synthesized PtFeCoNiMn/NC exhibits superior bifunctional electrocatalytic performance with a positive half-wave potential of 0.863 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE)for oxygen reduction reaction and a low overpotential of 357 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2)for oxygen evolution *** assembled quasi-solid-state zinc-air battery using PtFeCoNiMn/NC as air electrode shows a high peak power density of 192.16 mW·cm^(-2),low charge−discharge voltage gap,and excellent durability over 500 cycles at 5 mA·cm^(-2).This work demonstrates an effective route for rational design of bifunctional nanostructured HEA electrocatalysts with favorable electronic structures,and opens up a fascinating directions for energy storage and conversion,and beyond.

BACKGROUND The four components that make up the current dual-mobility artificial hip joint design are the femoral head,the inner liner,the outer liner as a metal cover to prevent wear,and the acetabular *** acetabular cup and the outer liner were constructed of 316L stainless *** the same time,the inner liner was made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene(UHMWPE).As this new dual-mobility artificial hip joint has not been researched extensively,more tribological research is needed to predict *** thickness of the inner liner is a significant component to consider when calculating the contact *** To make use of finite element analysis to gain a better understanding of the contact behavior in various inner liner thicknesses on a new model of a dual-mobility artificial hip joint,with the ultimate objective of determining the inner liner thickness that was most suitable for this particular type of dual-mobility artificial hip *** In this study,the size of the femoral head was compared between two diameters(28 mm and 36 mm)and eight inner liner thicknesses ranging from 5 mm to 12 *** the finite element method,the contact parameters,including the maximum contact pressure and contact area,have been evaluated in light of the Hertzian contact *** simulation was performed statically with dissipated energy and asymmetric *** types of interaction were surface-to-surface contact and normal contact *** The maximum contact pressures in the inner liner(UHMWPE)at a head diameter of 28 mm and 36 mm are between 3.7-13.5 MPa and 2.7-10.4 MPa,*** maximum von Mises of the inner liner,outer liner,and acetabular cup are 2.4–11.4 MPa,15.7–44.3 MPa,and 3.7–12.6 MPa,respectively,for 28 mm *** the maximum von Mises stresses of the 36 mm head are 1.9-8.9 MPa for the inner liner,9.9-32.8 MPa for the outer liner,and 2.6-9.9 MPa for the acetabular cup.A head with a diameter of 28 mm should have an inner line

Background: Scrotal trauma is a rare injury, and can compromise reproductive function. If in closed trauma, a morphological assessment of the lesion is usually necessary before treatment, in open trauma otherwise, namely in the case of testicular evisceration, surgical exploration is the rule. Objective: To present the management of open scrotal trauma. Case Presentation: These were two adults aged 42 and 63, admitted for post-traumatic testicular evisceration. One of the patients presented with signs of infection due to a diagnosis delay. Management consisted on surgical exploration, with scrotal debridement and testicular reintegration. The evolution was favourable. Conclusion: Open scrotal trauma is a rare lesion that can cause testicular evisceration. It requires surgical exploration, which should be systematic.
