Ba.kground: Previous resea.ch ha. suggested a. a.socia.ion between infection with hepa.itis C virus (HCV) or with huma. immunodeficiency virus (HIV) a.d low pla.elet counts. This study estima.es pla.elet count cha.ges over time in HIV/HCV co-infected pa.ticipa.ts a.d compa.es them with the cha.ges in pla.elet count a.ong HIV mono-infected pa.ticipa.ts to test if HIV/HCV co-infection is a.socia.ed with lower pla.elet counts. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included a.l HIV trea.ment na.ve pa.ients from four sites in the Centers for a.DS Resea.ch Network of Integra.ed Clinica. Systems (CNICS) cohort with pla.elet count mea.urements between 2002 a.d 2009. We conducted a.mixed effects linea. regression modeling the mea. cha.ge in pla.elet count per yea. while a.justing for a.e, sex, ra.e, ba.eline CD4 cell count, a.d site. Index da.e wa. the first pla.elet count a.ter 2002, a.d pa.ticipa.ts were censored upon initia.ion of trea.ment for HIV or HCV. Results: There were 929 HIV/HCV co-infected a.d 3558 HIV mono-infected pa.ticipa.ts with a.mea. follow-up time of 1.2 yea.s. HIV/HCV co-infected pa.ticipa.ts ha. on a.era.e a.slighter lower pla.elet count a. ba.eline (234,040 vs. 242,780/μL;p-va.ue = 0.004), a.d a.more ra.id mea. reduction per yea. (7230 vs. 3580/μL;p-va.ue 0.001) a.ter a.justing for a.e, sex, ba.eline CD4 count. Conclusions: In trea.ment na.ve pa.ticipa.ts, HIV/HCV co-infection is a.socia.ed with a.more ra.id decline in pla.elet count compa.ed with HIV mono-infection.

In the present study, the finite-time a.ynchronous dissipa.ive filter design problem for the Ma.kov jump systems with conic-type nonlinea.ity is studied. Computer modeling of high-pressure lea.hing process of nickel la.erite by design of experiments a.d neura. networks

Due to the complex chemica. composition of nickel ores, the requests for the decrea.e of production costs, a.d the increa.e of nickel extra.tion in the existing depletion of high-gra.e sulfide ores a.ound the world, computer modeling of nickel ore lea.hing process be- ca.e a.need a.d a.cha.lenge. In this pa.er, the design of experiments （DOE） theory wa. used to determine the optima. experimenta. design pla. ma.rix ba.ed on the D optima.ity criterion. In the high-pressure sulfuric a.id lea.hing （HPSa.） process for nickel la.erite in ＂Rudjinci＂ ore in Serbia. the tempera.ure, the sulfuric a.id to ore ra.io, the stirring speed, a.d the lea.hing time a. the predictor va.ia.les, a.d the degree of nickel extra.tion a. the response ha.e been considered. To model the process, the multiple linea. regression （MLR） a.d response surfa.e method （RSM）, together with the two-level a.d four-fa.tor full fa.toria. centra. composite design （CCD） pla., were used. The proposed re- gression models ha.e not been proven a.equa.e. Therefore, the a.tificia. neura. network （a.N） a.proa.h with the sa.e experimenta. pla. wa. used in order to reduce opera.iona. costs, give a.better modeling a.cura.y, a.d provide a.more successful process optimiza.ion. The model is ba.ed on the multi-la.er neura. networks with the ba.k-propa.a.ion （BP） lea.ning a.gorithm a.d the bipola. sigmoid a.tiva.ion function.

Cya.oba.teria.a.e known to be a.rich source of biologica.ly a.tive compounds some of which ca. ha.e pha.ma.eutica. importa.ce. In this work we present the screening results of cya.oba.teria. stra.ns for their a.tiba.teria., a.tifunga., a.d cytotoxic a.tivity. Cya.oba.teria. stra.ns were isola.ed from va.ious soil types in province of Vojvodina.a.d Centra. Serbia. Republic of Serbia. The screening included 9 stra.ns of a.a.a.na.a.d 9 stra.ns of Nostoc. Both, extra.ellula. products (from the culture liquid) a.d cellula. crude lipophilic extra.ts were tested a.a.nst 13 ba.teria. stra.ns a.d 8 funga. stra.ns. Cytotoxic a.tivity wa. tested a.a.nst three huma. cell lines. Metha.ol extra.ts were prepa.ed a.cording to ?stensvik. a.tiba.teria. a.d a.tifunga. a.tivities were determined mea.uring inhibition zone, 48 h a.ter inocula.ion. The cytotoxic a.tivity wa. determined by sulforhoda.ine B (SRB) colorimetric a.sa.. Of a.l cya.oba.teria. stra.ns tested, 52% showed some a.tifunga. a.d 41% a.tiba.teria. a.tivity. Two out of six tested stra.ns possessed cytotoxic a.tivity. The cytotoxic a.tivity of a.a.a.na.stra.n S12 wa. found both in culture liquid a.d crude cell extra.t. It occurred specifica.ly between the 21st a.d 42nd da. of cultiva.ion a.a.nst HeLa.a.d MCF7 cells, but ha. no a.tivity a.a.nst cell line derived from a.hea.thy tissue. a.high percenta.e of the a.tive stra.ns a.ong the tested stra.ns justify the effort of screening cya.oba.teria.tha. a.e isola.ed from terrestria. environments.
