Bac.ground: c.mpulsive behavior, dyskinesias, motor fluc.uations, and halluc.nations are c.mmon Parkinson’s disease (PD) medic.tion side effec.s. These are yet to be examined in relation to rac. and level of educ.tion. The goal of this analysis was to identify soc.oec.nomic.or c.inic.l variables that are assoc.ated with c.mpulsive behavior, dyskinesias, motor fluc.uations, and halluc.nations in patients in a safety-net hospital. Methods: A movement disorder patient database c.ntaining 452 patients with idiopathic.PD was analyzed for differenc.s in PD medic.tion side effec.s using univariate and multivariate logistic.regression analysis. Rac., sex, and level of educ.tion were evaluated as possible c.nfounders. Results: A greater proportion of the patients in this study were c.uc.sian males. The only variable assoc.ated with c.mpulsive behavior was age, with higher age having a protec.ive effec. (p = 0.0336). Disease duration (defined as time sinc. the onset of symptoms), diagnosis duration (time sinc. formal diagnosis), and level of educ.tion were signific.ntly assoc.ated with dyskinesia inunivariate analysis (p =c.ively). However, diagnosis duration was the only variable signific.ntly assoc.ated with dyskinesia in multivariate analysis (p = 0.0038), in addition to a borderline signific.nt assoc.ation when c.mparing individuals with graduate degree to those who had c.mpleted high sc.ool educ.tion or less (p = 0.0599), with a protec.ive effec. of higher educ.tion. Disease duration, diagnosis duration, and use of monoamineoxidase inhibitors were also signific.ntly assoc.ated with motor fluc.uations in the univariate analysis, while only diagnosis duration was signific.ntly assoc.ated with motor fluc.uations in multivariate analysis (p = 0.0035) with longer diagnosis duration assoc.ated with higher risk of motor fluc.uations. Introduc.ion: Diabetes represents a major public.health c.allenge, affec.ing over 463 million people ac.ording to the World Health Organization (WHO). Among its c.mplic.tions, diabetic.retinopathy stands out as the leading c.use of blindness in industrialized c.untries. Physic.l ac.ivity is now rec.gnized as a c.rnerstone of diabetes management, and its impac. on diabetic.retinopathy is of growing interest. Observation: Mr. A.E, a 54-year-old man, presents with progressive deterioration of his vision. Family history of diabetes and hypertension is noted. He engages in one hour of physic.l ac.ivity daily, inc.uding treadmill running and indoor c.c.ing. Despite rec.nt optic.l c.rrec.ion, his visual ac.ity remains at 3/10 unimproved. Oc.lar imaging, notably fluoresc.in retinal angiography and optic.l c.herenc. tomography, reveals proliferative diabetic.retinopathy with bilateral mac.lar edema. Blood tests, performed after physic.l ac.ivity, show normal values of blood gluc.se and HbA1c. delaying the initiation of treatment and promoting the progression of retinopathy. Despite appropriate management, no signific.nt improvement in visual func.ion is observed during follow-up. c.nc.usion: The management of diabetic.retinopathy requires an approac. integrating physic.l ac.ivity. A better understanding of the interac.ion between physic.l ac.ivity and diabetic.retinopathy is needed to optimize prevention and treatment strategies.

AIM： To use the c.mulative sum analysis sc.re（c.SUM） to c.nstruc. objec.ively the learning c.rve of phac.emulsific.tion ***： Three sec.nd-year residents and an experienc.d c.nsultant were monitored for a series of 70 phac.emulsific.tion c.ses eac. and had their series analysed by c.SUM regarding posterior c.psule rupture（Pc.） and best-c.rrec.ed visual ac.ity. The ac.eptable rate for Pc. was 〈5%（lower limit h） and the unac.eptable rate was 〉10%（upper limit h）. The ac.eptable rate for bestc.rrec.ed visual ac.ity worse than 20/40 was 〈10%（lower limit h） and the unac.eptable rate was 〉20%（upper limit h）. The area between lower limit h and upper limit h is c.lled the dec.sion interval. RESULTS： There was no statistic.lly signific.nt differenc. in the mean age, sex or c.tarac. grades between groups. The first trainee ac.ieved Pc. c.SUM c.mpetenc. at his 22 nd c.se. His best-c.rrec.ed visual ac.ity c.SUM was in the dec.sion interval from his third c.se and stayed there until the end, never reac.ing c.mpetenc.. Aim： To determine the effec. of two different extrac.s of red mac. in male rats. Methods： Prostatic.hyperplasia was induc.d in male rats with testosterone enanthate （TE）. The study c.mprised six groups： one c.ntrol group （group 1）, one group treated with TE （group 2）, two groups treated with TE and aqueous extrac. of red mac. （groups 3 and 4）, one group treated with hydroalc.holic.extrac. of red mac. （group 5） and one group treated with finasteride （0.1 mg, group 6）. Differenc.s in the aqueous extrac. dependent on the length of time of boiling, whether for 2 or 3 hours, for groups 3 and 4 was assessed. Extrac.s of red mac. c.ntained 0.1 mg of benzylgluc.sinolate. Thereafter, a doseresponse effec. of different doses of benzylgluc.sinolates （0.02-0.08 mg） in red mac. extrac.s was assessed. Results： Prostate weight was similar in rats treated with freeze-dried aqueous extrac. of red mac. prepared after 2 and 3 hours of boiling. Freeze-dried aqueous extrac. of red mac., hydroalc.holic.extrac. of red mac. and finasteride reduc.d prostate weight in rats with prostatic.hyperplasia. No differenc. was observed between the data obtained from aqueous extrac. or hydroalc.holic.extrac. of red mac.. A dose dependent reduc.ion of prostate weight was observed with the inc.ease of the dose of benzylgluc.sinolates in red mac. extrac.s. c.nc.usion： The present study showed that hydroalc.holic.or aqueous extrac. of red mac. c.ntaining 0.1 mg of benzylgluc.sinolate c.n reduc. prostate size in male rats in whic. prostatic.hyperplasia had been induc.d by TE.

本试验研究了日粮中的叶酸对团头鲂(Megalobramaamblyc.phala)生长、生理生化以及急性高温应激下生理生化的影响。团头鲂初体重27.0±0.03g,试验配置6组半纯合日粮,分别含叶酸0.0、0.5、1.0、2.0、5.0和10.0mg/kg饲料,养殖试验在循环水系统中进行,周期为10周,每组饲料3个平行。研究结果显示,饲喂1.0、2.0和5.0 mg/kg叶酸组团头鲂的终末重、增重率和特定生长率显著高于其他两组(P0.05)。但是显著影响肌肉粗蛋白含量,1.0mg/kg和2.0mg/kg叶酸组的团头鲂的肌肉粗蛋白含量显著高于对照组和0.5mg/kg叶酸组(Pc.H)、碱性磷酸酶(ALP)、甘油三酯(TG)、总胆固醇(Tc.、皮质醇、葡萄糖、补体c.(c.)、补体c.(c.)免疫球蛋白M(IgM)、肝脏超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化氢酶(c.T)、丙二醛(MDA),同时测定了肝脏中热休克蛋白60(HSP60)、热休克蛋白70(HSP70)和热休克蛋白90(HSP90)肝脏内的相对表达量。结果显示,日粮中的叶酸含量显著影响血浆中的TP、ALP和皮质醇含量(Pc.和c.含量显著高于对照组和0.5mg/kg组(Pc.显著高于对照组和0.5mg/kg组(Pc.显著高于对照组和0.5mg/kg组(Pc.显著高于对照组(Pc.显著高于对照组(Pc.显著高于对照组(P<0.05)。应激Oh和72h时,2.0mg/kg组血浆IgM显著高于对照组;应激7d,2.0mg/kg组IgM显著高于对照组、0.5mg/kg组和10.0mg/kg组(P<0.05)。应激前,饲喂不添加叶酸日粮的团头鲂肝脏MDA活性显著

Objec.ive: To evaluate whether the inoc.lation of c.ntaminated c.ltures in the peritoneal c.vity of mic. c.uld implement dec.ntamination of Ac.nthamoeba ***: Suspensions of Ac.nthamoeba, Ac.nthamoeba polyphaga ATc. 30461, or Ac.nthamoeba spp. isolated from soil(Un B13 strain) were inoc.lated in the peritoneal c.vity of Swiss mic.(n = 24). After 1, 6, 12, or 24 h of exposure the peritoneal c.vity was washed and assessed for the presenc. of bac.eria, fungi, and ***: After 1 h of intraperitoneal inoc.lation at least 97% of the bac.eria and 96% of the fungi(P c.eria(P c.essfully eliminated from the ATc. 30461 strain and from the soil isolate Un B13 strain, respec.ively. This method also allowed the rec.very of most trophozoites and c.sts from both Ac.nthamoeba c.ltures at the end of 24 ***: Our data demonstrated that this tec.nique has great potential for dec.ntamination of Ac.nthamoeba c.ltures in a short period of time.
