Aim.To evaluate the efficacy,safety,and therapeutic effect of topical ciclosporin A 0.05% as a steroid sparing agent in steroid dependent allergic ***:Prospective,random.sed,double m.sked,placebo controlled trial com.aring signs,sym.tom.,and the ability to reduce or stop concurrent steroid in steroid dependent atopic keratoconjunctivitis and vernal keratoconjunctivitis using 0.05% topical ciclosporin A com.ared to *** drop usage perweek(drug score),sym.tom.,and clinical signs scores were the m.in outcom. ***:The study included an enrolm.nt of 40 patients,18 with atopic keratoconjunctivitis and 22 with vernal *** was no statistical significant difference in drug score,sym.tom.,or clinical signs scores between the placebo and ciclosporin group at the end of the treatm.nt *** adverse reactions to any of the study form.lations were ***:Topical ciclosporin A 0.05% was not shown to be of any benefit over placebo as a steroid sparing agent in steroid dependent allergic eye disease.

Com.artm.ntalized m.tabolic Engineering for Artem.sinin Biosynthesis and Effective m.laria Treatm.nt by Oral Delivery of Plant Cells

Artem.sinin is highly effective against drug-resistant m.larial parasites, which affects nearly half of the global population and kills 〉500 000 people each year. The prim.ry cost of artem.sinin is the very expensive process used to extract and purify the drug from.Artem.sia annua. Elim.nation of this apparently unnecessary step will m.ke this potent antim.larial drug affordable to the global population living in endem.c regions. Here we reported the oral delivery of a non-protein drug artem.sinin biosynthesized （~0.8 m./g dry weight） at clinically m.aningful levels in tobacco by engineering two m.tabolic pathways targeted to three different cellular com.artm.nts （chloroplast, nucleus, and m.tochondria）. The doubly transgenic lines showed a three-fold enhancem.nt of isopentenyl pyrophosphate, and targeting AACPR, DBR2, and CYP71AV1 to chloroplasts resulted in higher expression and an efficient photo-oxidation of di- hydroartem.sinic acid to artem.sinin. Partially purified extracts from.the leaves of transgenic tobacco plants inhibited in vitro growth progression of Plasm.dium.falciparum.infected red blood cells. Oral feeding of whole intact plant cells bioencapsulating the artem.sinin reduced the parasitem.a levels in challenged m.ce in com.arison with com.ercial drug. Such novel synergistic approaches should facilitate low-cost production and delivery of artem.sinin and other drugs through m.tabolic engineering of edible plants.

Descent in Sym.etry during Solid State Transitions and Other Anom.lies in m.xed Valence Com.ounds Axm.lt;sub>xⅡm.lt;sub>1-xⅢF3(A = K, Rb, Cs;m.= V, Cr;x = 0.0 - 1.0)

The scope of solid-state transitions, from.m.lting tem.eratures down to 4.2 K, is described for six system.: KxVF3, RbxVF3, CsxVF3, KxCrF3, RbxCrF3, and CsxCrF3 (for x = 0.0 to 1.0). Connections are drawn between the com.ounds’ com.ositions and structures with the various transitions and ordering events. Upon solidification from.the m.lt and gradual cooling to room.tem.erature, a sequential descent of sym.etry appears to occur, from.high-sym.etry perovskite phases, through possible reconstructive transitions, to phases designated α, β, and δ, within which ionic ordering finally sets in, form.ng m.ny new lower-sym.etry structures. m.ny stable new structures are seen at room.tem.erature. Finally, at cryogenic tem.eratures, m.gnetic ordering sets in. Other anom.lies for these system. are also described. The analysis underscores the overall correspondence of structure, com.osition, and m.gnetic properties in these com.ounds. This lowering of sym.etry m.rrors what has been chronicled for oxygen-bearing perovskites that have yielded so m.ny high-tem.erature ceram.c superconductors.
