Balance improvement could contribute to ankle stability for the prevention of ankle *** electrical stimulation(FES)is an effective way of augmenting muscle activity and improving *** study investigated the effect of FES of peroneal muscles on single-and double-leg *** healthy females(age=23:1±1:6 years,height=1:63±0:07m,and weight=63:7±9:9 kg)performed single-and double-leg standing balance tests with eyes open and closed before and after 15-minute FES intervention during treadmill running at a comfortable,self-selected *** of peroneal muscles was provided bilaterally,using an Odstock Dropped Foot *** total excursion of the centre of pressure(COp)was calculated to assess the standing balance control *** total excursion of COp in single-and double-leg stance with eyes open reduced significantly after FES intervention by 14.7%(pp=0:031),*** eyes-closed condition exhibited a 12.7%(p=0:002)reduction in single-leg stance but did not significantly change in double-leg stance(p>0:05).Limb preference did not account for balance *** significant difference in total excursion of COp was found between preferred and less preferred limbs with both visual conditions(p>0:05).FES of peroneal muscles improved standing balance control with eyes open in double-leg and single-leg stance and with eyes closed in double-leg *** improvements in balance control with FES treatment did not vary concerning limb preference.

We propose a new moving pseudo-boundary method of fundamental solutions(MFS)for the determination of the boundary of a three-dimensional void(rigid inclusion or cavity)within a conducting homogeneous host medium from overdetermined Cauchy data on the accessible exterior *** algorithm for imaging the interior of the medium also makes use of radial spherical parametrization of the unknown star-shaped void and its centre in three *** also include the contraction and dilation factors in selecting the fictitious surfaces where the MFS sources are to be positioned in the set of unknowns in the resulting regularized nonlinear leastsquares *** feasibility of this new method is illustrated in several numerical examples.

We analyze the global stability of the coexisting equilibria for several models of commensalism, first by devising a procedure to modify several Lyapunov functionals which were introduced earlier for corresponding models of mutualism, further confirming their usefulness. It is seen that commensalism promotes global stability, in connection with higher-order self-limiting terms which prevent unboundedness. We then use the theory of asymptotically autonomous systems to prove global stability results for models of commensalism which are subject to Allee effects, finding that commensalisms of appropriate strength can overcome the influence of strong Allee effects.

AIM: To evaluate the effect of oral Escherichia coli (E. coli) Nissle application on the outcome of intestinal-borne ***: In a randomized, controlled, non-blinded prospective clinical trial 82 patients with intestinal-borne facial dermatoses characterized by an erythematous papular-pustular rash were screened. At the initiation visit 37 patients entered the experimental arm and 20 patients constituted the control arm. All 57 patients were treated with a vegetarian diet and conventional topical therapy of the dermatoses with ointments containing tetracycline, steroids and retinoids. In the experimental arm patients received a one month therapy with oral E. coli Nissle at a maintenance dose of 2 capsules daily. The experimental group was compared to a non-treatment group only receiving the diet and topical therapy. The primary outcome parameter was improvement of the dermatoses, secondary parameters included life quality and adverse events. In addition the immunological reaction profile (IgA, interleucin-8 and interferon-α) was determined. Furthermore the changes of stool consistency and the microbiota composition over the time of intervention were ***: Eighty-nine percent of the patients with acne, papular-pustular rosacea and seborrhoic dermatitis responded to E. coli Nissle therapy with significant amelioration or complete recovery in contrast to 56% in the control arm (p patients life quality improved significantly (p provement was associated with a significant increase of IgA levels to normal values in serum as well as suppression of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-8 (p parameters).
