Background:Different parts of Artemisia vulgaris L.(***)are ethno-medicinally used as an emmenagogue and for the treatment of ailments such as malaria fever,ulcers,and ***,anecdotal evidence shows that the plant is often substituted for Artemisia annua L.(***)by herbalists in Western Uganda due to similarities in their *** of medicinal plants and mislabelling of herbal products have been incriminated in toxicity and adverse health outcomes in traditional medicine *** safety continues to be a major issue with the use of herbal remedies,it becomes imperative therefore that medicinal plants should be correctly ***:This study focused on investigating the macroscopic,microscopic,physicochemical characteristics and phytochemical composition of *** leaves compared to *** to ease its correct ***:The results showed that there are some colour differences between the leaves of the two species,with a close arrangement of microscopic features but different leaf *** leaves of the two Artemisia species had similar tastes,but their shapes and colours(greenish-yellow for *** and dark green for ***)can be used by the local community to distinguish between *** artemisinin content was higher in *** leaves(1.72%)than in ***(1.43%),but the reverse was observed for the total flavonoid ***:This observation could justify the change in the use of *** by the indigenous community in western *** studies should consider the pharmacognostic comparison of *** with other species in the genus Artemisia and the use of molecular techniques such as DNA barcoding.

目的观察4期神经母细胞瘤联合治疗的早期疗效,探讨提高生存率及改善生活质量的治疗方案。方法对2016年1月至2021年6月在香港大学深圳医院确诊的14例4期神经母细胞瘤患儿的临床资料、治疗及随访情况进行回顾性分析。结果14例患儿中位发... 详细信息

目的观察4期神经母细胞瘤联合治疗的早期疗效,探讨提高生存率及改善生活质量的治疗方案。方法对2016年1月至2021年6月在香港大学深圳医院确诊的14例4期神经母细胞瘤患儿的临床资料、治疗及随访情况进行回顾性分析。结果14例患儿中位发病年龄为3岁7.5个月。骨髓检查阳性9例,N-Myc基因扩增4例,神经元特异性烯醇化酶增高13例,尿香草扁桃酸增高7例。病理结果:分化型6例,未分化型1例,混合型1例,分化差型6例。N7方案化疗10例(含2例N7方案+三氧化二砷化疗患儿),Rapid COJEC方案化疗4例。手术13例;自体造血干细胞移植14例;放疗10例。Ch14.18/CHO免疫治疗8例,其中1例因在治疗过程中出现过敏性休克而停止免疫治疗;其余7例完成治疗,期间未观察到严重不良反应。完成免疫治疗患儿中1例复发后进行3次Lu177 Dotatate治疗,目前仍在化疗中。14例患儿中位随访时间为45个月。2年内复发4例,2年内总生存率100%;3年内复发4例,3年内无病存活7例。结论儿童4期神经母细胞瘤建议选择多学科联合方案治疗,使4期神经母细胞瘤患儿获得更好的生存及预后。

Validation of the clinical tuberculosis screening algorithm used in Nigerian national tuberculosis control programme for screening people living with HIV

Background: In high HIV prevalence, tuberculosis diagnosis is challenging. Some countries hence use clinical algorithms to screen for tuberculosis in People Living with HIV (PLHIV). Objectives: The aim of the study was to validate the national algorithm for clinical tuberculosis screening of persons living with HIV who attend comprehensive HIV clinics. Methods: A cross-sectional study of PLHIV who presented with cough of at least 2 weeks duration between 2009 and 2011 at St patrick’s Hospital, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Sputum smear microscopy for acid fast bacilli was obtained from the participants. Results: Three hundred and twelve PLHIV were studied: 146 (46.8%) males and 166 (53.2%) females. Only 55 (17.6%) of the participants had smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis. Weight loss (c2 = 2.33;P = 0.127), hemoptysis (c2 = 0.03;P = 0.864), night sweats (c2 = 1.52;P = 0.218), fever (c2 = 3.49;P = 0.06), anorexia (c2 = 0.49;P = 0.484), chest pain (c2 = 2.48;P = 0.115), breathlessness (c2 = 0.63;P = 0.426) were not significant in PLHWA with/without pulmonary tuberculosis. Cough, fever, night sweat and weight loss combined gave a sensitivity of 97.0%, specificity of 10.9%, negative predictive value (NPV) of 93.3% and positive predictive value (PPV) of 21.8%. Conclusion: Findings suggest that though national screening algorithm is a valid tool to screen for tuberculosis in PLHIV, it will lead to many false positive results.

Background During the COVID-19 pandemic,decreased volumes of stroke admissions and mechanical thrombectomy were *** study’s objective was to examine whether subarachnoid haemorrhage(SAH)hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions demonstrated similar *** We conducted a cross-sectional,retrospective,observational study across 6 continents,37 countries and 140 comprehensive stroke *** with the diagnosis of SAH,aneurysmal SAH,ruptured aneurysm coiling interventions and COVID-19 were identified by prospective aneurysm databases or by International Classification of Diseases,10th Revision,*** 3-month cumulative volume,monthly volumes for SAH hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm coiling procedures were compared for the period before(1 year and immediately before)and during the pandemic,defined as 1 March-31 May *** prior 1-year control period(1 March-31 May 2019)was obtained to account for seasonal *** There was a significant decline in SAH hospitalisations,with 2044 admissions in the 3 months immediately before and 1585 admissions during the pandemic,representing a relative decline of 22.5%(95%CI−24.3%to−20.7%,p<0.0001).Embolisation of ruptured aneurysms declined with 1170-1035 procedures,respectively,representing an 11.5%(95%CI−13.5%to−9.8%,p=0.002)relative *** analysis was noted for aneurysmal SAH hospitalisation decline from 834 to 626 hospitalisations,a 24.9%relative decline(95%CI−28.0%to−22.1%,p<0.0001).A relative increase in ruptured aneurysm coiling was noted in low coiling volume hospitals of 41.1%(95%CI 32.3%to 50.6%,p=0.008)despite a decrease in SAH admissions in this *** There was a relative decrease in the volume of SAH hospitalisations,aneurysmal SAH hospitalisations and ruptured aneurysm embolisations during the COVID-19 *** findings in SAH are consistent with a decrease in other emergencies,such as stroke and myocardial infarction.
