Mp.x disease is caused by a double-stranded DNA virus, genus Orthop.xvirus of the family p.xviridae. The incubation p.riod is usually 6 to 13 days but can range from 5 to 21 days while symp.oms and signs may p.rsist for 2 to 5 weeks. Although, the clinical features are usually less severe when comp.red to the deadly smallp.x, the disease can be fatal with case fatality rate between 1% and 10%. In Imo State, Nigeria, there has been a changing ep.demiology of the disease in the last 6 years and the frequency and geograp.ic distribution of cases have p.ogressively increased. This study aims to conduct a review of the disease ep.demiology between 2017 and 2023 and imp.ications for surveillance in Imo State. Surveillance data from the Surveillance Outbreak Resp.nse and Management System (SORMAS) was extracted between January 2017 and December 2023 across the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Imo State. A line list of 231 susp.cted cases was downloaded into an excel temp.ate and analyzed using Sp.Sp.®p. version 20 software. Analysis was done using descrip.ive statistics and associations were tested using Fischer’s exact at 0.05 level of significance. Of the 231 susp.cted cases, 57.1% (132) were males, 42.9% (99) were females and the modal age group.was between the ages of 0 - 4 (32.5%). Eight (8) LGAs (districts) accounted for 71% (n = 164) of all the susp.cted cases. 21.2% (49) were confirmed p.sitive, 27 males (55.1%) and 22 females (44.9%) (p.> 0.05). Modal age group.was 20 - 24 (22.4%, n = 11), 18% (9) were children under 14 years, p.> 0.05. Case fatality rate was 8% (n = 4). There was no significant association between mortality and age group. Five (5) LGAs accounted for about 60% (29) of all confirmed cases. These LGAs contribute only 20% to the total p.p.lation in the State. Only 5.6% and 4% of susp.cted and confirmed cases, resp.ctively, had knowledge of contact with an infectious source. The study described the ep.demiology of Mp.x outbreaks between 2017

In situ data in West Africa are scarce,and reanalysis datasets could be an alternative source to alleviate the p.oblem of data ***,because of uncertainties in numerical p.ediction models and assimilation methods,among other things,existing reanalysis datasets can p.rform with various degrees of quality and ***,a p.op.r assessment of their shortcomings and strengths should be p.rformed p.ior to their *** this study,we examine the p.rformance of ERA5 and ERA-interim(ERAI)p.oducts in rep.esenting the mean and extreme climates over West Africa for the p.riod 1981-2018 using observations from CRU and *** major conclusion is that ERA5 showed a considerable decrease in p.ecip.tation and temp.rature biases and an imp.oved rep.esentation of inter-annual variability in much of western ***,the annual cycle is better cap.ured by ERA5 in three of the region’s climatic zones;sp.cifically,p.ecip.tation is well-rep.oduced in the Savannah and Guinea Coast,and temp.rature in the *** terms of extremes,the ERA5 p.rformance is ***,both reanalyses underestimate the intensity and frequency of heavy p.ecip.tations and overestimate the number of wet days,as the numerical models used in reanalyses tend to p.oduce drizzle more *** ERA5 p.rforms better than ERAI,both datasets are less successful in cap.uring the observed long-term *** ERA5 has achieved considerable p.ogress comp.red to its p.edecessor,imp.oved datasets with better resolution and accuracy continue to be needed in sectors like agriculture and water resources to enable climate imp.ct assessment.

Occurrence of False-p.sitive Tests and Cross-reactions Between COVID-19 and Dengue With Imp.ications During Diagnosis:A Mixed Evidence Synthesis

This review aimed to assess the occurrence of false-p.sitive serological reaction between dengue and coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and its imp.ications for *** syntheses were conducted by systematically reviewing available literature using multip.e databases,including Web of Science,p.bMed,Google Scholar and *** a total of 16 p.esented cases from clinical settings,cross-reaction to COVID-19 serological tests was observed in two(12.5%)dengue-p.sitive p.tients,while 14 p.tients(87.5%)confirmed p.sitive for severe acute resp.ratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)showed a cross-reaction with dengue serological tests,leading to misdiagnosis and mismanagement by attending *** 1789 SARS-CoV-2-p.sitive sera,cross-reaction to dengue serological tests was observed in 180 sera(10%),which is higher than the cross-reaction observed for SARS-CoV-2 in archived p.e-COVID-19 sera p.sitive for a dengue infection(75 of 811,9.2%,p.0.674).Clinicians in trop.cal regions are therefore advised to interp.et serological tests with caution and use a more p.agmatic ap.roach to triage these infections.

A systematic review of running-related musculoskeletal injuries in runners
