Liver transplantation as an alternative for the treatment of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma: A critical review

We review the recent progress that have led to the development of porous materials based on cellulose nanostructures found in plants and other resources. In light of the properties that emerge from the chemistry, shape and structural control, we discuss some of the most promising uses of a plant-based material, nanocellulose, in regenerative medicine. Following a brief discussion about the fundamental aspects of self-assembly of nanocellulose precursors, we review the key strategies needed for material synthesis and to adjust the architecture of the materials (using three-dimensional printing, freeze-casted porous materials, and electrospinning) according to their uses in tissue engineering, artificial organs, controlled drug delivery and wound healing systems, among others. For this purpose, we map the structure-property-function relationships of nanocellulose-based porous materials and examine the course of actions that are required to translate innovation from the laboratory to industry. such efforts require attention to regulatory aspects and market pull. Finally, the key challenges and opportunities in this nascent field are critically reviewed.

Analysis of structural distortion in Eshelby twisted InP nanowires by scanning precession electron diffraction

Tran smissio n electro n microscopes (TEM) are widely used in nan otech no logy research. However, it is still challe nging to characterize nano scale objects;their small size coupled with dynamical diffraction makes interpret!ng real- or reciprocal-space data difficult. scanning precession electron diffraction ((s)PED) represents an invaluable contribution, reducing the dynamical contributions to the diffraction pattern at high spatial resolution. Here a detailed analysis of wurtzite InP nanowires (30-40 nm in diameter) containing a screw dislocation and an associated wire lattice torsion is presented. It has been possible to characterize the dislocation with great detail (Burgers and line vector, handedness). Through careful measurement of the strain field and comparison with dynamical electron diffraction simulations, this was found to be compatible with a Burgers vector modulus equal to one hexagonal lattice cell parameter despite the observed crystal rotation rate being larger (ca. 20%) than that predicted by classical elastic theory for the nominal wire diameter. These findings corroborate the importance of the (s)PED technique for characterizing nano scale materials.

了解在不同空间尺度上控制生物多样性分布的因素是保护工作面临的一个关键挑战。生物多样性,反映在不同地点物种组成的差异(β多样性),可以通过物种更替(周转率)获得,并受到多种因素的驱动。在本研究中,我们试图通过研究两个与受威胁的巴西季节性干旱森林相关的问题探讨:(I)物种周转对β多样性的贡献是什么?(II)哪些因素驱动了林块间物种组成的变化?我们在17个相隔近300公里的干燥森林斑块中对树种进行采样,以及采集环境变量(土壤和气候)。我们使用β多样性划分框架来确定周转率的贡献,采用冗余分析和适合的空间结构来评估环境和空间因素对物种组成变化的贡献。斑块间的β多样性主要以周转组分(98.2%)为代表,simpson相异度优于国内其他地区(多位点和两两比较的平均值分别为0.89和0.71)。环境因子对物种组成变化的解释多于空间因素,占物种组成变化的30.3%,其中28.1%是非空间结构的。我们建议,300公里代表一个阈值,在这个阈值上,土壤和气候预测因子在决定群落周转方面具有相似的效应(在不考虑空间结构的情况下,分别为14.9%和12.6%)。因此,应该跨景观考虑保护策略,以有效地保护热带森林多样性,因为即使考虑到不同规模的气候差异,景观化的土壤种类也是物种周转的重要驱动因素。

n this work, we present synthesis of the compounds trans-[Ru(NHsub>3sub>)sub>4sub>L(bpa)]sup>2+sup> where L is pyridine ligands: pyridine (py), isonicotinamide (isn), 4-acetylpyridine (4-acpy) and 4-picoline (4-pic) and 1,2-bis (4-pyridyl) ethane (bpa), their characterization by UV-visible spectroscopy and electrochemical properties. This series shows intense bands in the region between 400 and 515 nm, allocated bands charge transfer (MLCT), the influence of substituents on the pyridine ring (4-acpy and isn), and the interaction between the ligand and the metal, causing a second MLCT band, which is lighter and has more energy. The compound is characterized by spectroscopy by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The displacement observed in the symmetrical stretching of νsub>ssub>(CCN) group in the complex compared with the νsub>ssub>(CCN) group in the free ligand is indicative of coordination of the pyridine group to the Ruthenium (II) metallic center. The electrochemical data (cyclic voltammetry) show that reversibility criteria are well defined and formal Esub>fsub> potential, indicating the influence of the pyridine ring substituent.

Primary hepatic gastrinoma is a rare disease, with fewer than 40 cases reported in the medical literature. Because it is located in an organ in which metastases are common, its diagnosis is difficult. We report a case of a 19 years old male patient with a history of gastric ulcers since the age of nine. Following gastric surgery, an antrectomy and a vagotomy, there was some alleviation of symptoms. subsequently, the patient reported various intermittent episodes of diarrhea, diffuse abdominal pain, and vomiting. The patient underwent tomography, which revealed the presence of a hepatic mass measuring 19.5 cm × 12.5 cm × 17 cm. Primary hepatic gastrinoma was diagnosed based on laboratory examinations that indicated hypergastrinemia and a positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance study with somatostatin analogue that confirmed the liver as the primary site. After hepatic trisegmentectomy(Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, Ⅷ), the patient's symptoms improved. The case is notable for the presence of a rare tumor with uncommon dimensions.
