Even though in Costa Rica the solar energy industry is incipient,over the years the number of micros,small and medium-sized companies（MSMEs）,grouped in the Costa Rican Solar Energy Association（Acesolar）,has been *** the import of photovoltaic systems to offer services through consulting projects,marketing,and installation of solar panels so organizations and families can take advantage of solar energy as an alternative source to replace conventional electric *** because of the characteristics of solar energy and the technologies involved,MSMEs are obliged to innovate permanently and,for this reason,they need to promote a culture of innovation that involves technical,managerial and corporate *** companies have managed to maintain their competitiveness,it is unknown what are the factors of the culture of innovation that have allowed these companies to remain in the market and manage consulting,marketing and panel installation *** this purpose,in this thesis the objective is addressed:Analyze the construction of innovation culture in the project management of Costa Rican solar energy *** on the perceptions that the managers of MSMEs have,it was determined that innovation is present in the daily activities of the companies in the *** this sense,the culture of innovation that they have been introducing allows companies to manage the consulting,marketing and installation projects of solar panel systems and the generation of ideas to incubate innovative concepts in the formulation and execution of the same *** part of the factors of the culture of innovation that were identified in this study,it can be said that companies have participative management styles that promote the incorporation of innovative ideas in *** diversity of thoughts in the construction of new ideas is stimulated,and the positive contributions in the management of the projects are communicated *** is allowed if

Dear Editor,Persistent hematuria could trigger urinary retention,leading the patient to the emergency department for abdominal pain,decreased urinary output,anemia,and azotemia[1,2].Conventional bladder clot evacuation requires a three-way catheter with continuous irrigation and aspiration with a syringe or Ellik evacuator[3].Sometimes a large and well-organized hematoma requires an open cystostomy[1,4].We want to introduce a combined method using hydrogen peroxide as well as suction technique with an endotracheal catheter to evacuate intravesical clots.

Silver Nanoparticles Produced by Magnetron Sputtering and Selective Nanodecoration onto <i>α</i>-Cyclodextrin/Carboxylic Acid Inclusion Compounds Crystals

In this work, we report the preparation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and the nanodecoration of α-cyclodextrin inclusion compounds (α-CD IC) microcrystals that contain palmitic (PAc) and stearic acids (SAc) like guest molecules. These IC provide a suitable environment for nucleation, epitaxial growth and immobilization of AgNPs that were obtained by the magnetron sputtering technique. The use of α-CD IC substrates with a specific surface morphology in which the functional group of the guest molecule faces outward preferentially from a crystal plane, is an efficient method for the preparation of AgNPs with a low size dispersion, which is probably due to the high affinity between the functional group of the surfactant carboxylic acid guest with the metal nanoparticles.

Functional promoter rs189037 variant of ATM is associated with decrease in lung diffusing capacity after irradiation for nonesmall-cell lung cancer

Objective: Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the ataxia telangiectasiaemutated gene ATM have been linked with pneumonitis after radiotherapy for lung cancer but have not been evaluated in terms of pulmonary function impairment. Here we investigated potential associations between SNPs in ATM and changes in diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide (DLCO) in patients with nonesmall-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after radiotherapy. Methods: From November 1998 through June 2009, 448 consecutive patients with inoperable primary NSCLC underwent definitive (≥60 Gy) radiotherapy, with or without chemotherapy. After excluding patients with a history of thoracic surgery, ra-diation, or lung cancer; without DNA samples available for analysis; or without pulmonary function testing within the 12 months before and the 12 months after radiotherapy, 100 patients were identified who are the subjects of this study. We genotyped two SNPs of ATM previously found to be associated with radiation-induced pneumonitis (rs189037 and rs228590) and evaluated potential correlations between these SNPs and impairment (decreases) in DLCO by using logistic regression analysis. Results: Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that the AA genotype of ATM rs189037 was associated with decreased DLCO after definitive radiotherapy than the GG/AG genotypes (univariate coefficient, -0.122; 95％ confidence interval (CI),-0.236 to -0.008; P = 0.037; and multivariate coefficient, -0.102; 95％ CI, -0.198 to -0.005; P = 0.038)No such correlations were found for rs228590 (univariate coefficient, -0.096; 95％ CI, -0.208 to 0.017; P = 0.096). Conclusions: The AA genotype of ATM rs189037 was associated with higher risk of lung injury than were the GG/AG genotypes in patients with NSCLC treated with radiotherapy. This finding should be validated prospectively with other patient populations.

The translation of the genotype into phenotype, represented for example by the expression of genes encod- ing enzymes required for the biosynthesis of phytochemicals that are important for interaction of plants with the environment, is largely carried out by transcription factors （TFs） that recognize specific cis-regulatory elements in the genes that they control. TFs and their target genes are organized in gene regulatory net- works （GRNs）, and thus uncovering GRN architecture presents an important biological challenge necessary to explain gene regulation. Linking TFs to the genes they control, central to understanding GRNs, can be car- ried out using gene- or TF-centered approaches. In this study, we employed a gene-centered approach uti- lizing the yeast one-hybrid assay to generate a network of protein-DNA interactions that participate in the transcriptional control of genes involved in the biosynthesis of maize phenolic compounds including gen- eral phenylpropanoids, lignins, and flavonoids. We identified 1100 protein-DNA interactions involving 54 phenolic gene promoters and 568 TFs. A set of 11 TFs recognized 10 or more promoters, suggesting a role in coordinating pathway gene expression. The integration of the gene-centered network with informa- tion derived from TF-centered approaches provides a foundation for a phenolics GRN characterized by in- terlaced feed-forward loops that link developmental regulators with biosynthetic genes.

Characterizing the diversity and structure of host–parasite communities is crucial to understandingtheir eco-evolutionary *** and related haemosporidian parasites are responsible forfitness loss and mortality in bird species ***,despite exhibiting the greatest ornithologicalbiodiversity,avian haemosporidians from Neotropical regions are quite ***,we analyze the genetic diversity of bird haemosporidian parasites(Plasmodium andHaemoproteus)in 1,336 individuals belonging to 206 bird species to explore for differences in diversityof parasite lineages and bird species across 5 well-differentiated Peruvian *** 70 different haemosporidian lineages infecting 74 bird *** showed that 25 out ofthe 70 haplotypes had not been previously ***,we also identified 81 new host–parasite interactions representing new host records for these haemosporidian *** outcomesrevealed that the effective diversity(as well as the richness,abundance,and Shannon–Weaver index)for both birds and parasite lineages was higher in Amazon basin ***,we also showed that ecoregions with greater diversity of bird species also had highparasite richness,hence suggesting that host community is crucial in explaining parasite *** parasites were found in ecoregions with lower bird diversity,implying that the abundanceand richness of hosts may shape the exploitation strategy followed by haemosporidian *** outcomes reveal that Neotropical region is a major reservoir of unidentified *** studies analyzing host distribution and specificity of these parasites inthe tropics will provide important knowledge about phylogenetic relationships,phylogeography,and patterns of evolution and distribution of haemosporidian parasites.

First Report on the Presence of Phyllachora sp. in Corn Crops at Toluca, Estado de Mexico

Symptoms of Tar Spot Complex (TSC) in corn appear in the form of black spots surrounded by a chlorotic halo known as fish-eye. The crop with these symptoms was found at San Pablo Autopan, Estado de Mexico. The stromal region of foliar lesions was cut longitudinally, showing perithecia, asci and ascospores typical of Phyllachora maydis. The results were confirmed by PCR-ITS with ITS 1 and ITS4 initiators, cloned by pJET, before being sequenced and compared against NCBI’s data base. Phyllachora identity was confirmed. This is the first report where TSC pathogen has been detected under conditions that had not been previously reported, for instance, at 2600 meters above the sea level.
