Achieving work hardening in metallic glass matrix composites(MGMCs) is the key to the extensive use of these attractive materials in structural and functional *** this study,we investigated the formation of nanoscale boundaries resulted from the interaction between matrix and dendrites,which favors the work-hardening deformation in an in-situ Ti41Zr32Ni6 Ta7 Be14 MGMC with β-Ti dendrites in a glassy matrix at room *** microstructures of samples after tension were observed by highresolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The work-hardening mechanism of the present composites involves:(1) appearance of dense dislocation walls(DDWs),(2)proliferation of shear bands,(3) fo rmation of boundaries on the nanoscale,and(4) interactions between hard and soft phases.A theoretical model combined with experimental data reveals the deformation mechanisms in the present work,proving that the in-situ dendrites with outstanding hardening ability in the glass matrix can provide the homogeneous deformation under tensile loading at room temperature.

What is the sound of fear？ Behavioral responses of white-crowned sparrows Zonotrichia leucophrys to synthesized nonlinear acoustic phenomena

Fear and anxiety may be adaptive responses to life-threatening situations, and animals may communicate fear to others vocally. A fundamental understanding of fear inducing sounds is important for both wildlife conservation and management because it helps us understand how to design repellents and also how (and why) animals may be negatively impacted by anthropogenic sounds. Nonlinear phenomena—sounds produced by the desynchronization of vibrations in a sound production system—are commonly found in stress-induced animal vocalizations, such as in alarm calls, mobbing calls, and fear screams. There are several functional hypotheses for these nonlinear phenomena. One specific hypothesis is the unpredictability hypothesis, which suggests that because nonlinear phenomena are more variable and somewhat unpredictable, animals are less likely to habituate to them. Animals should, therefore, have a prolonged response to sounds with nonlinear phenomena than sounds without them. Most of the studies involving nonlinear phenomena have used mammalian subjects and conspecific stimuli. Our study focused on white-crowned sparrows (Zonotrichia ***) and used synthesized acoustic stimuli to investigate behavioral responses to stimuli with and without nonlinear phenomena. We predicted that birds would be less relaxed after hearing a stimulus with a nonlinear component. We calculated the difference from baseline of proportion of time spent in relaxed behaviors and performed pair-wise comparisons between a pure tone control stimulus and each of three experimental stimuli, including a frequency jump up, a frequency jump down, and white noise. These comparisons showed that in the 30‒60 s after the playback experiment, birds were significantly less relaxed after hearing noise or an abrupt frequency jump down an octave but not an abrupt frequency jump up an octave or a pure tone. Bioko island（3008 m a.s.l） is located in the presently more active volcanic zone of the Cameroon Line and composed essentially of alkaline basalts and hawaiites, and lesser mugearites. The rocks show microlitic porphyritic texture with phenocrysts of olivine（83% 〈 fo 〈 87%） and clinopyroxene in a matrix of plagioclase, clinopyroxene and oxides. Hawaiites and mugearites also include phenocrysts of plagioclase（An62-67Ab35-32Or3-1）. Major element variation diagrams show an increase in Si O2, Al2O3, Na2 O and K2 O with increasing Mg O for the studied rock groups. The rocks are characterized by low（^86Sr/^87Sr）i ratios（0.70320e0.70406）, high 3Nd（t） values（2.56e4.33） and high（^206Pb/^204Pb）i ratios（20.032e20.035） *** are enriched in LiLE and LREE, and have（Hf/Sm）N= 0.57e1.16. These geochemical signatures are similar to those of the Mount Cameroon rocks, and might be attributed to low degrees of partial melting from a garnet-amphibole-bearing mantle source. The trace elements and isotopic compositions suggest that the parental magma source might have involved HiMU- and EM1-components.

The way in which prosody contributes to meaning is still, today, a poorly understood process, corresponding to a mapping between two levels of representation for neither of which there is any general consensus. it is argued here that annotation of prosody generally consists in describing, both prosodic function and prosodic form, but that it would be preferable to clearly separate the two levels. One elementary annotation system for prosodic function:iF-annotation, is, it is argued, sufficient to capture at least those aspects of prosodic function which influence syntactic interpretation. The annotation of prosodic form can be carried out automatically by means of an fo modelling algorithm, MOMEL, and an automatic coding scheme, iNTSiNT. The resulting annotation is underdetermined by the iF-annotation, but defining mapping rules between representations of function and representation of form could provide an interesting means of establishing an enriched functional annotation system through analysis by synthesis.

Feeding Polyunsaturated Supplements to Grazing Dairy Cows improve the Healthy Value of Milk Fatty Acids

The objective of the experiment was to improve the healthy value of milk fatty acids (FA) by feeding sunflower oil (SO) or sunflower seed (SS) combined or not with fish oil (fo) to grazing dairy cows. four Holstein cows (515 ± 80 kg liveweight) in late lactation (230 days postpartum) fitted with ruminal cannulae were allotted to a 4 × 4 Latin square design with factorial arrangement of treatments: SS = 1.9 kg dry matter (DM)/cow/d of SS;SO = 0.8 kg/cow/d of SO;SS-fo = SS + 0.24 kg/cow/d fo and SO-fo = SO + 0.24 kg/fo. Cows grazed a high quality pasture offered at 11 kg DM/cow/day. After the afternoon milking cows also received 5.6 kg DM/cow of corn silage and during each milking time cracked corn grain (1.3 kg DM/cow) mixed with a mineral-vitamin premix was fed. Oils and SS were introduced via ruminal cannulae and SS was fed roughly grounded. Milk yield tended (p 12:0, 51% for C14:0 and 29% for C16:0. Atherogenicity index (Ai) of milk was reduced particularly in SS-fo. Basal concentration of cis-9, trans-11 C18:2 (CLA) in milk was 1.39 g/100g FA and increased (p ithout differences between SS or SO. Feeding fo.increased (p ilk contents of CLA (2.86 to 3.92 g/100g FA) and linolenic acid. Comparing SO or SS with or without fo showed no changes for neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and crude protein (CP) degradation of pasture. Polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) fed to grazing dairy cows had a marked effect on milk FA profile putatively enhancing its healthy value.

目前对于时间序列分析中出现的空间自相关现象，已经有很多的的文献详述了如何对这种现象进行识别与建模分析。但是，对于撒哈拉以南非洲地区疟疾的主要媒介-阿拉伯按蚊幼虫滋生地的地理空间相关性方面的研究还没研究报道。在空间回归分析中，空间相关性主要通过空间滤波方法完成，该滤波方法通过分析时间序列中随机误差的分布特征。运用基于地理连接矩阵的非参数特征向量分解空间滤波方法，以寻求能鉴别阿拉伯按蚊幼虫滋生水生环境的预测因子。首先，选择肯尼亚的两个城市，Kisumu和Malindi，进行了蚊虫滋生水体的现场采样工作。然后获取快鸟（QuickBird）卫星数据；并利用该数据对冈比亚按蚊的滋生水体进行遥感影像分析。把这些水体的地理空间信息数据输入SAS／GiS模型中，进行单因素分析、相关分析、数据分布分析、以及全局空间自相关统计。然后，利用空间协方差参数生成局部空间自相关指数（如：Moran’s指数）。并由该模型生成了选择性特征向量的粗子集，此粗子集可以被用来研究这些样方变量间的空间互作效应。最后，利用贝叶斯系数估计法定义矩阵中各参数的期望先验参数值，得知水体环境的深度是决定该水体能否滋生阿拉伯按蚊的关键预测性因素，并且深度与其滋生可能性呈明显的正相关关系；由转移空间连接矩阵生成的特征向量的特殊子集可以获知由阿拉伯按蚊水生环境预测因子以及所建立的空间回归模型中空间误差的相关性。
