Is convenience really king? Comparative evaluation of catastrophic costs due to tuberculosis in the public and private healthcare sectors of Viet Nam: a longitudinal patient cost study

Background In Viet Nam, tuberculosis (TB) represents a devastating life-event with an exorbitant price tag, partly due to lost income from daily directly observed therapy in public sector care. Thus, persons with TB may seek care in the private sector for its flexibility, convenience, and privacy. Our study aimed to measure income changes, costs and catastrophic cost incurrence among TB-affected households in the public and private *** Between October 2020 and March 2022, we conducted 110 longitudinal patient cost interviews, among 50 patients privately treated for TB and 60 TB patients treated by the National TB Program (NTP) in ha Noi, hai Phong and Ho Chi minh City, Viet Nam. Using a local adaptation of the WHO TB patient cost survey tool, participants were interviewed during the intensive phase, continuation phase and post-treatment. We compared income levels, direct and indirect treatment costs, catastrophic costs using Wilcoxon rank-sum and chi-squared tests and associated risk factors between the two cohorts using multivariate *** The pre-treatment median monthly household income was significantly higher in the private sector versus NTP cohort (USD 868 vs USD 578;P=0.010). However, private sector treatment was also significantly costlier (USD 2075 vs USD 1313;P=0.005), driven by direct medical costs which were 4.6 times higher than costs reported by NTP participants (USD 754 vs USD 164;Pthis resulted in no significant difference in catastrophic costs between the two cohorts (Private: 55% vs NTP: 52%;P=0.675). Factors associated with catastrophic cost included being a single-person household [adjusted odds ratio [(aOR=13.71; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.36–138.14;P=0.026], unemployment during treatment (aOR=10.86; 95%CI: 2.64–44.60;P<0.001) and experiencing TB-related stigma (aOR=37.90; 95%CI: 1.72–831.73;P=0.021).Conclusions Persons with TB in Viet Nam face similarly high risk of catastrophic costs whether treated in the

More than 80%of plants form mutualistic symbiotic relationships with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF),and the application of fertilizers,such as nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)fertilizers,is a common agricultural management practice to improve crop yield and ***,the potential effects of long-term N and P fertilization on the AMF community in the rainfed agricultural system of the Loess Plateau of China are still not well *** this study,a long-term field experiment was conducted based on orthogonal design,with three N levels(0,90,and 180 kg ha^(-1)year^(-1))and three P levels(0,90,and 180 kg ha^(-1)year^(-1))for wheat *** in AMF community and correlations between AMF community composition,soil environmental factors,and wheat yield component traits were analyzed using traditional biochemical methods and high-throughput sequencing *** results showed that long-term N and P addition had a significant effect on the AMF community structure and *** application alone significantly reduced the richness and diversity of AMF community,whereas the combined application of N and P significantly increased the richness and diversity of AMF *** AMF community was driven mainly by soil available P,total P,and *** was a significant positive correlation between Glomus abundance and wheat yield and a significant negative correlation between Paraglomus abundance and wheat ***-term N and P addition directly increased crop yield and affected yield indirectly by influencing soil chemical properties and the AMF *** application of N and P both at90 kg ha^(-1)year^(-1)could improve the ecological and physiological functions of the AMF community and benefit the sustainable development of rainfed agriculture.

Evaluation of Interaction between Surface Water and Groundwater in the South of hanoi City by Stable Isotope Technique

The δ18O and δ2H stable isotope techniques for studying properties of groundwater and surface help us to understand more clearly about the distribution and movement of groundwater in the South of hanoi area. There were 68 water samples from the studying area and analyzed by a Liquid Water Isotope Analyzer (LWIA-24D). The stable isotope values of the groundwater from Pleistocene aquifers were range from -3.21‰ to -9.55‰ δ18O and -35.32‰ to -67.44‰ δ2H;rainwater from -8.18‰ to -4.13‰ δ18O and -61.19‰ to -17.93‰ δ2H;Red river water from -7.51‰ to -5.29‰ δ18O and -51.60‰ to -38.99‰ δ2H. Based on stable isotope characteristics, the results show that there was a relationship between surface water and groundwater in the South of hanoi city. It is that groundwater recharges for river water in the dry season with 74%, and in the rainfall season groundwater is recharged from river with 87%.

this study used the Binary Logistic regression model to estimate the willingness to pay (WTP) to reduce the use of plastic bags in the daily life of people in the Linh Nam ward. this study notes that households with higher incomes and higher levels of education tend to be more willing to pay. In addition, those who do not have access to information about the harmful effects of plastic bags and receive a higher proposed price often refuse to pay.

Antibiotic usage in surgical sperm retrievals among IVF centers

Surgical sperm retrieval(SSR)is currently one of the most common procedures in in vitro fertilization(IVF).However,a gap between the guidelines and routine clinical practice regarding antibiotic use in sSR,which might lead to antibiotic resistance,is a challenging problem worldwide.A cross-sectional survey was conducted from May 1,2021,to July 15,2021,to investigate antibiotic usage by medical professionals when performing SSR in IVF centers in *** confidential questionnaire comprised 12 items,including characteristics of the study population,awareness of antimicrobial resistance,attitude toward prescribing antibiotics,and current practice of prescribing antibiotics when performing *** were completed by 30 of 45 registered IVF centers(66.7%).Among 67 physicians working at those centers,the age and work-experience years(mean±standard deviation[s.d.])were 38.6±6.6 years and 11.2±7.0 years,*** 60%of them held a degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology,and over four-fifths were *** respondents"often/very often/always"raised awareness of antimicrobial resistance to their patients(83.3%),but only half of them"often/occasionally"prescribed antibiotics to patients with SSR in cases where the prescription would be *** one-tenth of respondents followed the recommendation from the American Urological Association using"prophylaxis only"for SSR *** more invasive SSR,physicians tended to prescribe more complicated and sometimes inappropriate *** conclusion,antibiotic usage in SSR was not always appropriate among IVF *** studies may define specific recommendations for regimens,intervention strategies,and programs to promote appropriate antibiotic use for SSR patients among IVF specialists.

Optical properties and dynamic process in metal ions doped on CdSe quantum dots sensitized solar cells

In recent years, the nanostructure for solar cells have attracted considerable attention from scientists as a result of a promising candidate for low cost devices. In this work, quantum dots sensitized solar cells with effective performance based on a co-sensitized Cd S∕Cd Se：Mn2＋（or Cu2＋） nanocrystal, which was made by successive ionic layer absorption and reaction, are discussed. The optical, physical, chemical, and photovoltaic properties of quantum dots sensitized solar cells were sensitized to Mn2＋and Cu2＋dopants. Therefore, the short current（JSC）of the quantum dot sensitized solar cells is boosted dramatically from 12.351 mA∕cm2 for pure Cd Se nanoparticles to 18.990 mA∕cm2 for Mn2＋ions and 19.915 mA∕cm2 for Cu2＋ions. Actually, metal dopant extended the band gap of pure Cd Se nanoparticles, reduced recombination, enhanced the efficiency of devices, and improved the charge transfer and collection. In addition, Mn2＋and Cu2＋dopants rose to the level of the conduction band of pure Cd Se nanoparticles, which leads to the reduction of the charge recombination, enhances the lightharvesting efficiency, and improves the charge diffusion and collection. The results also were confirmed by the obtained experimental data of photoluminescence decay and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

this paper deals with a general class of weighted multilinear hardy-Cesaro op- erators that acts on the product of Lebesgue spaces and central Morrey spaces. Their sharp bounds are also obtained. In addition, we obtain sufficient and necessary conditions on weight functions so that the commutators of these weighted multilinear hardy-Cesaro oper- ators （with symbols in central BMO spaces） are bounded on the product of central Morrey spaces. These results extends known results on multilinear hardy operators.
