The shiny cowbird Molothrus bonariensis parasitizes many species with different life-history traits and has a detrimental effect on the survival of the progeny of the *** response,hosts have developed numerous antiparasitic ***,we examined the effects of brood parasitism by shiny cowbird on the clutch and brood sizes(83 nests)in a small host,the black-backed water tyrant Fluvicola *** also studied whether the death of parasite nestlings was related to the care of the foster parents and whether the host had any antiparasitic defense against the shiny *** results indicate that brood parasitism significantly decreased the host hatching and fledging *** majority of nest failures(57%)were caused by brood *** cowbird parasitism occurred in 52%of nests and the intensity of parasitism was 1.23±0.53 eggs per parasitized *** the total host eggs,54%were *** the incubation stage,20 nests(47%)were abandoned because of egg punctures by shiny cowbirds *** two parasitic fledglings were recorded,while the remaining nestlings either died from starvation(n=12)or predation(n=3).Foster parents abandoned parasitic nestlings between 5 and 10 days *** findings demonstrate that the shiny cowbird has very low rates of fledging success when parasitizing black-backed water ***,parasitism had a high reproductive cost in the black-backed water tyrant because a very low proportion(7%)of the parasitized nests(n=43)were successful.

Crucian carp(Carassius auratus gibelio),an extensively cultivated freshwater fish,was one of the model species for the study of fish *** antibodies were advantageous molecular tools for studying teleost immune ***,polyclonal antibodies reacting with immunoglobulins(Ig)were used successfully in studies of the teleost *** the present study,we produced polyclonal antibody against Ch2 domains of crucian carp IgM,and measured the in vivo dynamics of IgM mRnA caused by CyhV-2 *** recombinant protein IgM with relative molecular weight about 53 KD was correctly expressed in prokaryotic *** specificity of the polyclonal antibody was evaluated by Western blotting and results revealed that the antibody not only specifically recognized crucian carp serum but also cross-reacted with grass carp *** RT-PCR analysis demonstrated the expression of IgM mRnA changed significantly after CyhV-2 *** expression of IgM in the kidney increased and reached a maximum at 6 h post-infection(hpi),while dropped to a low level at 5 days post-infection(dpi).In conclusion,the expression of IgM was significantly upregulated in the kidney of crucian carp infected with CyhV-2,indicating that IgM played a potential role in systemic immunity against viral *** antibody against crucian carp IgM had certain clinical relevance,which might provide insight into the early stage of virus infection and prevention of the disease.

A production technique with the high yield and environmentally friendly process need be developed forε-Caprolactam(CPL)in the chemical *** technology is highly desired to design and synthesize high--performance catalysts for liquid phase Beckmann rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime(ChO)to *** this work,3-methyl-1-(propyl-4-sulfonyl)imidazolium methanesulfonate([PhSO_(3)MIM][MSA])with highly efficient and excellent yield is synthesized *** the optimum molar ratio of ZnCl_(2)over[PhSO_(3)MIM][MSA]was 0.02,it exhibits the high selectivity(94%)of CPL at 90℃for 1 ***,Fourier-transform infrared(FT-IR)investigations show that the functional Br∅nsted-Lewis acidic types of ionic liquids(ILs)are formed by the uniformly distributed ZnCl_(2)and[PhSO_(3)MIM][MSA].In addition,the hydrogen bond(h-bond)is formed between ChO and *** ten reaction cycles,no significant structure changes are observed in the recovered[PhSO_(3)MIM][MSA]-ZnCl_(2).The solubilities of ILs are predicted by using COSMO-RS model,the results show that[PhSO_(3)MIM][MSA]is a promising candidate for the liquid phase Beckmann rearrangement of ChO into ***,a theoretical model of the h-bond interactions between ILs and ChO is further confirmed to support the advance of reaction mechanism.A feasible way is provided for the CPL production technique in the liquid phase Beckmann rearrangement reaction.

Solvent extraction and recovery of Y(Ⅲ) and Yb(Ⅲ) from fluorspar mineral

Yttrium and ytterbium were extracted from sulfuric acid medium using triphenylarsine （TPAs） dissolved in kerosene. The influence of different factors, such as shaking time, extractants, metal ions, sulfate ion concentrations, as well as temperature, was studied in detail. From the slope analysis method and IR measurements, the structure of the extracted species was suggested as MSO4（hSO4）.TPAs, where M refers to Y（III） or Yb（III）. The equilibrium constants （Kex） and thermodynamic parameters, such as the change in enthalpy （△h）, free energy （△G）, and entropy （△S）, were calculated. The method of extraction and stripping was applied to obtain the aforementioned metals from a sample of fluorspar mineral giving a recovery yield of 88.2% and 83.5% for yttrium and ytterbium, respectively.

nickel-based materials,including metallic ni and ni oxide,have been widely studied in the exploration of non-precious-metal hydrogen electrocatalysts,but neither pure ni nor niO is ideal for the hydrogen evolution reaction(heR)and hydrogen oxidation reaction(hOR).In this paper,an oxygen insertion strategy was applied on nickel to regulate its hydrogen electrocatalytic performance,and the oxygen-inserted nickel catalyst was successfully obtained with the assistance of tungsten dioxide support(denoted as O-ni/WO_(2)).The partial insertion of oxygen in ni maintains the face-centered cubic arrangement of ni atoms,simultaneously expanding the lattice and increasing the lattice ***,the adsorption strength of^(*)h and^(*)Oh on ni is optimized,thus resulting in superior electrocatalytic performance of0-ni/WO_(2)in alkaline heR/*** Tafel slope of O-ni/WO_(2)@nF for heR is 56 mV dec^(-1),and the kinetic current density of O-ni/WO_(2)for hOR reaches 4.85 mA cm^(-2),which is ahead of most currently reported *** proposed strategy of inserting an appropriate amount of anions into the metal lattice could provide more possibilities for the design of high-performance catalysts.

Vanadium oxide cathode materials with stable crystal structure and fast Zn^(2+)storage capabilities are extremely important to achieving outstanding electrochemical performance in aqueous zinc‐ion *** this work,a one‐step hydrothermal method was used to manipulate the bimetallic ion intercalation into the interlayer of vanadium *** pre‐intercalated Cu ions act as pillars to pin the vanadium oxide(V‐O)layers,establishing stabilized two‐dimensional channels for fast Zn^(2+)*** occupation of Mn ions between V‐O interlayer further expands the layer spacing and increases the concentration of oxygen defects(Od),which boosts the Zn^(2+)diffusion *** a result,as‐prepared Cu_(0.17)Mn_(0.03)V_(2)O_(5−□)·2.16h_(2)O cathode shows outstanding Zn‐storage capabilities under room‐and lowtemperature environments(e.g.,440.3 mAh g^(−1)at room temperature and 294.3 mAh g^(−1)at−60°C).Importantly,it shows a long cycling life and high capacity retention of 93.4%over 2500 cycles at 2 A g^(−1)at−60°***,the reversible intercalation chemistry mechanisms during discharging/charging processes were revealed via operando X‐ray powder diffraction and ex situ Raman *** strategy of a couple of 3d transition metal doping provides a solution for the development of superior room‐/lowtemperature vanadium‐based cathode materials.

Macroalgae are multicellular,aquatic autotrophs that play vital roles in global climate maintenance and have diverse applications in biotechnology and eco-engineering,which are directly linked to their multicellularity ***,their genomic diversity and the evolutionary mechanisms underlying multicellularity in these organisms remain *** this study,we sequenced 110 macroalgal genomes from diverse climates and phyla,and identified key genomic features that distinguish them from their microalgal *** for cell adhesion,extracellular matrix formation,cell polarity,transport,and cell differentiation distinguish macroalgae from microalgae across all three major phyla,constituting conserved and unique gene sets supporting multicellular *** genes show phylum-and climate-specific expansions that may facilitate niche ***,our study reveals genetic determinants of convergent and divergent evolutionary trajectories that have shaped morphological diversity in macroalgae and provides genome-wide frameworks to understand photosynthetic multicellular evolution in aquatic environments.
