Interface Engineering of Titanium Nitride Nanotube Composites for Excellent Microwave Absorption at Elevated Temperature

Currently,the microwave absorbers usually suffer dreadful electromagnetic wave absorption(EMWA)performance damping at elevated temperature due to impedance mismatching induced by increased conduction loss.Consequently,the development of high-performance EMWA materials with good impedance matching and strong loss ability in wide temperature spectrum has emerged as a top priority.Herein,due to the high melting point,good electrical conductivity,excellent environmental stability,EM coupling effect,and abundant interfaces of titanium nitride(TiN)nanotubes,they were designed based on the controlling kinetic diffusion procedure and Ostwald ripening process.Benefiting from boosted heterogeneous interfaces between TiN nanotubes and polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS),enhanced polarization loss relaxations were created,which could not only improve the depletion efficiency of EMWA,but also contribute to the optimized impedance matching at elevated temperature.Therefore,the TiN nanotubes/PDMS composite showed excellent EMWA performances at varied temperature(298-573 K),while achieved an effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)value of 3.23 GHz and a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of−44.15 dB at 423 K.This study not only clarifies the relationship between dielectric loss capacity(conduction loss and polarization loss)and temperature,but also breaks new ground for EM absorbers in wide temperature spectrum based on interface engineering.

Double-stranded DNA-nucleic acid dye complex-sensitized biocatalytic photosynthesis:Base pairing-switched regeneration of nicotinamide cofactor

Photo-biocatalysis,the combination of photosensitization and biocatalysis,is an emerging solution for sunlight-based renewable energy.It is thus important to develop light antennas with both good light har-vesting and efficient electron transfer.Herein,the intriguing electrical conductivity of dsDNA and its host effect(for nucleic acid dyes to harvest light)were explored simultaneously to develop a dsDNA-based light antenna for photo-biocatalysis.With SYBR Green I(SG)as the example of the nucleic acid dye,the proposed SG-dsDNA system was found to be capable for visible-light-driven reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)regeneration,and the turnover frequency of which(1.35 min^(-1))exceeded most of the existing photocatalytic systems.Since SG can only be hosted by dsDNA,meanwhile dsDNA can be formed through hybridization between single strand DNA and its complementary strand,the pro-posed system adds an extra control of the photocatalytic activity(DNA base pairing-based switch).When integrating the SG-dsDNA system with NADH-dependent horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase(HLADH),successful synthesis of 2-phenylpropanol(a crucial intermediates of profens manufacturing)was achieved.

Efficacy of exercise rehabilitation for managing patients with Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's disease(AD) is a progressive and degenerative neurological disease characterized by the deterioration of cognitive functions. While a definitive cure and optimal medication to impede disease progression are currently unavailable, a plethora of studies have highlighted the potential advantages of exercise rehabilitation for managing this condition. Those studies show that exercise rehabilitation can enhance cognitive function and improve the quality of life for individuals affected by AD. Therefore, exercise rehabilitation has been regarded as one of the most important strategies for managing patients with AD. Herein, we provide a comprehensive analysis of the currently available findings on exercise rehabilitation in patients with AD, with a focus on the exercise types which have shown efficacy when implemented alone or combined with other treatment methods, as well as the potential mechanisms underlying these positive effects. Specifically, we explain how exercise may improve the brain microenvironment and neuronal plasticity. In conclusion, exercise is a cost-effective intervention to enhance cognitive performance and improve quality of life in patients with mild to moderate cognitive dysfunction. Therefore, it can potentially become both a physical activity and a tailored intervention. This review may aid the development of more effective and individualized treatment strategies to address the challenges imposed by this debilitating disease, especially in low-and middle-income countries.

The impact of supply chain resilience on customer satisfaction and financial performance:A combination of contingency and configuration approaches

Supply chain resilience(SCR)refers to a supply chain's(SC's)ability to recover from disruptions timely and effectively.This study uses a combination of contingency and configuration approaches to examine the direct and contingent relationships between SCR dimensions(i.e.,internal,supplier,and customer resilience)and performance.It analyzes survey data collected from 206 Chinese manufacturers.The results show that the three SCR dimensions are positively related to customer satisfaction,whereas customer resilience has no direct contribution to financial performance.Internal resilience moderates the relationship between supplier resilience and performance(negative for customer satisfaction and positive for financial performance).A taxonomy for SCR was developed based on internal,supplier,and customer resilience,providing a holistic perspective for examining the performance discrepancies among four different SCR patterns:high externalleaning,high uniform,medium uniform,and low uniform.These findings offer insights for managers in building SCR from the crisis-management process.

Flexible regulation engineering of titanium nitride nanofibrous membranes for efficient electromagnetic microwave absorption in wide temperature spectrum

Simultaneous development of well impedance matching and strong loss capability has become a mainstream method for achieving outstanding electromagnetic microwave absorption(EMWA)performances over wide temperature range.However,it is difficult to pursue both due to the mutual restraint of relationship between impedance matching and loss capability about temperature.Here,we propose a flexible regulation engineering of titanium nitride(TiN)nanofibrous membranes(NMs,TNMs),which could be distributed uniformly in the polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)matrix and contributed to the formation of abundant local conductive networks,generating the local conductive loss and enhancing the loss ability of EMWs.Moreover,when the TNMs are used as functional units and dispersed in the matrix,the corresponding composites exhibit an outstanding anti-reflection effect on microwaves.As hoped,under the precondition of good impedance matching,local conductive loss and polarization loss together improve the loss capacity at room temperature,and polarization loss can compensate the local conductive loss to acquire effective dielectric response at elevated temperature.Benefiting from the reasonably synergistic loss ability caused by flexible regulation engineering,the corresponding composites exhibit the perfect EMWA performances in a wide temperature range from 298 to 573 K.This work not only elaborates the ponderable insights of independent membrane in the composition-structure-function connection,but also provides a feasible tactic for resolving coexistence of well impedance matching and strong loss capability issues in wide temperature spectrum.

Compound events of heatwave and dust storm in the Taklamakan Desert

Taklamakan Desert(TD)has been characterized by numerous heatwaves and dust storms,leading to negative effects on societies and ecosystems at regional and global scales.However,the association between heatwaves and dust storms is poorly known.In this study,we describe the association between heatwaves and dust events and propose a mechanism for such compound events in the TD.The results show that,from 1993 to 2022,the frequency and intensity of heatwaves in the TD have increased at a rate of 0.21 days year^(-1)and 0.02℃ year^(-1),respectively.More than 40% of heatwaves existed with dust events,which significantly lagged behind heatwaves.Mechanically,the higher the air temperature,the hotter and drier the soil,leading to more dust emissions in the TD.In high-occurrence heatwave years,a large-scale wave train of“cyclone-anticyclone-cyclone”in the northwest-southeast direction was found,with the anticyclone of which hovered over the TD region.The anomalous anticyclones favored the formation and maintenance of heatwaves,and subsequent anomalous cyclones in the wave train triggered strong dust events followed by heatwaves.With climate warming,the compound events of heatwave and dust storm are becoming bigger hazards threatening the socioeconomic and ecological security in the TD,the profound study of which is critical to understanding regional extreme responses.

3D-printed MoS_(2)/Ni electrodes with excellent electro-catalytic performance and long-term stability for dechlorination of florfenicol

Here,we report the production of 3D-printed MoS_(2)/Ni electrodes(3D-MoS_(2)/Ni)with longterm stability and excellent performance by the selective laser melting(SLM)technique.As a cathode,the obtained 3D-MoS_(2)/Ni could maintain a degradation rate above 94.0%for forfenicol(FLO)when repeatedly used 50 times in water.We also found that the removal rate of FLO by 3D-MoS_(2)/Ni was about 12 times higher than that of 3D-printed pure Ni(3D-Ni),attributed to the improved accessibility of H^(*).In addition,the electrochemical characterization results showed that the electrochemically active surface area of the 3D-MoS_(2)/Ni electrode is about 3-fold higher than that of the 3D-Ni electrode while the electrical resistance is 4 times lower.Based on tert-butanol suppression,electron paramagnetic resonance and triple quadrupole mass spectrometer experiments,a“dual path”mechanism and possible degradation pathway for the dechlorination of FLO by 3D-MoS_(2)/Ni were proposed.Furthermore,we also investigated the impacts of the cathode potential and the initial pH of the solution on the degradation of FLO.Overall,this study reveals that the SLM 3D printing technique is a promising approach for the rapid fabrication of high-stability metal electrodes,which could have broad application in the control of water contaminants in the environmental field.

A Secure Communicating While Jamming Approach for End-to-End Multi-Hop Wireless Communication Network

With the rapid development of wireless communications,cellular communication and distributed wireless network are fragile to eavesdropping due to distributed users and transparent communication.However,to adopt bigger transmit power at a given area to interfere potential eavesdroppers not only incurs huge energy waste but also may suppresses regular communication in this area.To this end,we focus on secure communication in multi-hop wireless communication network,and propose two communicating while jamming schemes for secure communication in presence of potential eavesdroppers for the narrow band and broad band point-to-point(P2P) systems respectively with the aid of artificial noise transmitted by a chosen cooperative interferer.Furthermore,to achieve the end-to-end(E2E) multi-hop secure communication,we devise the secure network topology discovering scheme.via constructing a proper network topology with at least one proper node as the cooperative interferer in each hop,and then propose the secure transmission path planning scheme to find an E2E secure transmission route from source to destination,respectively.Experiments on the wireless open-access research platform demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed schemes.Besides,simulations results validate that the proposed schemes can achieve better performance compared with existing methods in both the P2P communication case and E2E multi-hop communication network scenario.

MOF-based magnetic microrobot swarms for pH-responsive targeted drug delivery

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)hold significant potential as vehicles for drug delivery due to their expansive specific surface area,biocompatibility,and versatile attributes.Concurrently,magnetically actuated micro/nano-robots(MNRs)offer distinct advantages,such as untethered and precise manipulation.The fusion of these technologies presents a promising avenue for achieving non-invasive targeted drug delivery.Here,we report a MOF-based magnetic microrobot swarm(MMRS)for targeted therapy.Our approach overcomes limitations associated with a single MNR,including limited drug loading and the risk of loss during manipulation.We select Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8(ZIF-8)as the drug vehicle for its superior loading potential and p H-sensitive decomposition.Our design incorporates magnetic responsive components into the one-pot synthesis of Fe@ZIF-8,enabling collective behaviors under actuation.Tuning the yaw angle of alternating magnetic fields and nanoparticles'amount,the MMRSs with controllable size achieve instantaneous transformation among different configurations,including vortex-like swarms,chain-like swarms,and elliptical swarms,facilitating adaptation to environmental variations.Transported to the subcutaneous T24 tumor site,the MMRSs with encapsulated doxorubicin(DOX)automatically degrade and release the drug,leading to a dramatic reduction of the tumor in vivo.Our investigation signifies a significant advancement in the integration of biodegradable MOFs into microrobot swarms,ushering in new avenues for accurate and non-invasive targeted drug delivery.

Supramolecular complex glycoconjugate vaccine generates self-enhancement effects for carbohydrate antigen delivery

Targeting delivery of tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen(TACA)-based vaccine to antigen-presenting cells(APCs)mediated by endogenous antibodies can improve the immunogenicity of TACA.However,an essential requirement of this approach is to generate high titers of endogenous antibodies in vivo through pre-immunization,which complicates the immunization procedure and may cause side effects.Herein,we report a new generation of APC-targeting TACA-based supramolecular complex vaccine,assembled by sialyl Thomsen-nouveau-bovine serum albumin-adamantine(sTn-BSA-Ada)and heptavalent rhamnose(Rha)-modifiedβ-cyclodextrin(β-CD)via host-guest interaction.The complex vaccine retained anti-Rha antibodies recruiting capability and facilitated the APCs uptake of the vaccine via the interaction of the Fc-domain with the Fc receptors on APCs.We demonstrate that direct immunization of complex vaccine elicited anti-Rha and anti-sTn specific immune response synchronously,generating a novel self-enhancement effect that can improve the antigen delivery to APCs in high efficacy.The structure-activity relationship(SAR)study proved that complex vaccine 4 with polyethylene glycol 6(PEG 6)linker in host molecule provoked a robust and specific sTn immune response comparable to the pre-immunization approach.The antisera induced by complex vaccine,either through direct immunization or pre-immunization,exhibited equal potency of cytotoxicity against the sTn expression cancer cells.This study provides a general platform for TACA-based vaccines with self-enhancement effects without the need for pre-immunization.
