Lichenicolous fungi belonging to the anamorphtypified genus Phaeosporobolus and to the teleomorph-typified genus Lichenostigma were isolated in pure culture or sequenced directly,with nuLSU and mtSSU sequences *** analyses place the species of Phaeosporobolusin a strongly supported clade with the generic type of Lichenostigma(***),the genus Phaeococcomyces and several melanized rock-inhabiting *** strongly supported nonlichenized lineage is sister to the primarily lichenized Arthoniales in the Arthoniomycetes and is here described as the *** new order is characterized by cells multiplying by budding,either representing black yeasts,or species in which conidiomata and ascomata are entirely made of an organised agglomeration of spherical yeast-like *** way of life is not only very different from all other Arthoniomycetes that exist only in the mycelial stage,but ascomata and conidiomata representing a dense and organised agglomeration of yeast cells might be unique amongst fungi.A further difference with the Arthoniales is the absence of *** results suggest that Phaeosporobolus usneae is the asexual stage of Lichenostigma *** species of Phaeosporobolus are transferred to the genus Lichenostigma except ***,for which the new genus Etayoa is *** genus Diederimyces is reduced into synonymy with *** other members of Lichenostigma are placed in the Dothideomycetes and are intermixed with Lichenothelia species.

This review offers the first synthesis of the research on mixed-species groupings of arthropods and highlights the behavioral and evolutionary questions raised by such ***-species groups are commonly found in mammals and *** groups are also observed in a large range of arthropod taxa independent of their level of sociality. Several examples are presented to highlight the mechanisms underlying such groupings, particularly the evidence for phylogenetie proximity between members that promotes cross-species *** advantages offered by such aggregates are described and *** advantages can be attributed to the increase in group size and could be identical to those of nonmixed groupings,but competition-cooperation dynamics might also be involved,and such effects may differ between homo-and heterospecific *** discuss three extreme cases of interspecific recognition that are likely involved in mixed-species groups as vectors for cross-species aggregation:tolerance behavior between two social species,one-way mechanism in which one species is attractive to others and two-way mechanism of mutual *** shown in this review,the study of mixed-species groups offers biologists an interesting way to explore the frontiers of cooperation-competition, including the process of sympatric speciation.

It has been controversial whether gender has any effect on recovery following spinal cord injury（SCI）. Past experimental and clinical research aimed at addressing this subject has led to constrasting findings on whether females hold any advantage in locomotor recovery. Additionally, for studies supporting the notion of a female gender related advantage, a definite cause has not been explained. In a recent study, using large sample sizes for comparative male and female spinal cord injury cohorts, we reported that a significant gender advantage favoring females existed in both tissue preservation and functional recovery after taking into consideration discrepancies in age and weight of the animals across sexes. Prior animal research frequently used sample sizes that were too small to determine significance with certainty and also did not account for two other factors that influence locomotor performance： age and weight. Our finding is important in light of controversy surrounding the effect of gender on outcome and the fact that SCI affects more than ten thousand new individuals annually, a population that is disproportionately male. By deepening our understanding of why a gender advantage exists, potential new therapeutics can be designed to improve recovery for the male population following the initial trauma or putatively augment the neuroprotective privilege in females for enhanced outcomes.

Background:Sexually transmitted infections(STIs)are responsible for a high burden of morbidity and mortality in many developing countries especially among *** are predisposed to STIs because they are more likely to engage in unhealthy ***,these adolescents have limited knowledge of the use and barriers to sexual and reproductive health information and care *** study explored the knowledge of STIs among Senior High School Adolescents in the Wa Municipality of ***:The study designed as a descriptive cross-sectional research.A multistage sampling technique was used to recruit these adolescents for the *** 355 adolescents were selected from senior high schools in the Wa *** statistics and Chi-square test were used to analyze the data,at a significance level ofP<***:The majority of respondents had good knowledge of STIs,with the most common examples of STIs identified as HIV/AIDS(80.8%,287/355)and gonorrhea(73.8%,262/355).The main known signs and symptoms identified were discharges from the penis/vagina(72.4%,257/355),painful urination(71.5%,254/355),and itching,and sores around the genital area(72.7%,258/355).The main sources of information/education of STIs for these adolescents were the school,hospital,internet and *** respondent lived with was found to be significantly associated with knowledge of STI(P<0.001).Conclusion:Many of the respondents had good knowledge of STI,and the school was the most common source of information on STL It is,therefore,important for the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Health Service to strengthen the School Health Education Programme in second cycle institutions in the Wa ***,especially mothers,should be actively involved in the sexual health education of adolescents.

Barium titanate nanocrystallites were synthesized by a hydrothermal technique from barium chloride and tetrabutyl titanate. Single-crystalline cubic perovskite Ba TiO_3 consisting of spherical particles with diameters ranging from 10 to 30 nm was easily achieved by this route. In order to study the influence of the synthesis process on the morphology and the optical properties, barium titanate was also prepared by a solid-state reaction. In this case, only the tetragonal phase which crystallizes above 900 was observed. High-temperature X-ray diffraction measurements were performed to investigate the crystallization temperatures as well as the particle sizes via the Scherrer formula. The lattice vibrations were evidenced by infrared spectroscopy. Eu^(3+)was used as a structural probe, and the luminescence properties recorded from Ba TiO_3 :Eu^(3+)and elaborated by a solid-state reaction and hydrothermal process were compared. The reddish emission of the europium is increased by the nanometric particles.

Inland waters are important sources of greenhouse gases(GHGs)to the atmosphere that may partially offset the terrestrial carbon ***,GHG emissions from high altitude saline lakes on the Tibetan Plateau are currently poorly *** this study,we measured methane(CH_(4))and carbon dioxide(CO_(2))concentrations and their carbon stable isotope(δ13C),and calculated diffusive water-to-air fluxes from two saline high-altitude lakes,Qinghai Lake and Hala Lake,located in northeast Tibetan Plateau in October *** two lakes were mostly supersaturated in CH_(4)(89.8%-4623.9%sat)and acted as sources of CH_(4) to the ***,more than 96%investigated area of Qinghai Lake and all investigated area of Hala Lake was a sink of CO_(2).The average diffusive fluxes of CH_(4) and CO_(2) in the surface waters of Qinghai Lake were 34.51μmol m−2 d−1 and−1.29 mmol m−2 d−1,while diffusive fluxes of CH_(4) and CO_(2) in Hala Lake averaged 5.48μmol m−2 d−1 and−5.24 mmol m−2 d−1,***(Sal),fluorescent dissolved organic matter(fDOM),temperature(Temp)and dissolved oxygen(DO)are key factors for diffusive CH_(4) and CO_(2) flux in Qinghai Lake and Hala ***_(4) diffusive fluxes across water-air interface from Qinghai Lake and Hala Lake were found to be significantly lower than other freshwater lakes,likely due to their saline nature.A simple isotope mixing model(Miller-Tans plots)revealed a distinctly different isotopic source values of CO_(2) and CH_(4) in Qinghai Lake and Hala *** CH_(4) production pathway of Qinghai Lake was mainly by the acetate fermentation,while that of Hala Lake was mainly by the CO_(2) *** results show that the continuous measurement can help capture the spatial variability of GHGs fluxes in saline lakes.
