A comparative study of liquid and solid inner contact roxatidine acetate ion-selective electrode membranes

A comparative study was conducted using two designs of a roxatidine acetate （ROX）-selective electrode; a conventional liquid inner contact called electrode A and a graphite-coated solid contact called electrode 13. The fabrication of electrodes was based on roxatidine-tetraphenylborate （ROX-TPB） as an ion-association complex in a PVC matrix using different plasticizers. Electrode A has a linear dynamic range of 2.2 ×10^-5 mol/L to 1.0 ×10^-2 mol/L, with a Nernstian slope of 54.7 mV/decade and a detection limit of 1.4 ×10^-6 mol/L. Electrode B shows linearity over the concentration range of 1.0×10^-6 mol/L to 1.0×10^-2 tool/L, with a Nernstian slope of 51.2 mV/decade and a limit of detection of 1.1×10^7 mol/L which is remarkably improved as a result of diminishing ion fluxes in this solid contact, ion-selective electrode. The proposed sensors display useful analytical characteristics for the determination of ROX in bulk powder and its pharmaceutical formulation. The present electrodes show clear discrimination of ROX from several inorganic, organic ions, sugars, some common drug excipients and the degradation product （3-[3-（1-piperidinyl methyl） phenoxy] propyl amine） of ROX. Furthermore, the proposed electrodes were utilized for the determination of ROX in human plasma, where electrode B covers drug Cmax which indicated its applicability to pharmacokinetic, bioavailability and bioequivalent studies. The results obtained by the proposed electrodes were statistically analyzed and compared with those obtained by a reported HPLC method. No significant difference for either accuracy or precision was observed.

This work develops a standalone autonomously controlled personalized ventilation(PV)unit in a naturally ventilated(NV)office space to maintain acceptable thermal comfort{TQ under steady and transient indoor conditions and activity *** NV-PV proportional integral derivative(PID)controller adjusts the PV supply temperature(7spv)at the occupant set flow rate(Qspv)based on predicted TC using a regression *** target TC level that the controller attains at all times is between 0(neutral)and 1(slightly comfortable).Process transfer functions were developed and then used to find the adaptive PID tuning coefficients using the Internal Model Control(IMC)*** controller was tested in a case study at indoor temperature range of 25 to 33℃ with relative humidity range of 55%and 80%.It was shown that the NV-PV controller adjusted Tspv to maintain acceptable TC under transients of indoor conditions and metabolic rates.

To the Editor: In the last decade, next-generation sequencing(NGS)-based molecular profiling has shed light on the molecular landscape of biliary tract cancer(BTC), revealing the presence of several potentially actionable mutations [1]. According to Clinical ***, there are at least 40 phase I to IV ongoing trials aimed at evaluating the role of targeted treatments in BTC, as monotherapy or in combination with other anticancer agents [2]. Early encouraging results have been observed with therapies targeting IDH mutations, FGFR fusions, HER family and, more recently, BRAF mutations [3].

In the analyses of the uncertainty propagation of buildings’energy-demand,the Monte Carlo method is commonly *** this study we present two alternative approaches:the stochastic perturbation method and the transformed random variable *** energy-demand analysis is performed for the representative single-family house in *** investigation is focused on two independent variables,considered as uncertain,the expanded polystyrene thermal conductivity and external temperature;however the generalization on any countable number of parameters is ***,the propagation of the uncertainty in the calculations of the energy consumption has been investigated using two aforementioned *** stochastic perturbation method is used to determine the expected value and central moments of the energy consumption,while the transformed random variable method allows to obtain the explicit form of energy consumption probability density function and further characteristic parameters like quantiles of energy *** calculated data evinces a high accordance with the results obtained by means of the Monte Carlo *** most important conclusions are related to the computational cost reduction,simplicity of the application and the appropriateness of the proposed approaches for the buildings’energy-demand calculations.

Soybean(Glycine max(L.) Merr.) is a non-native and non-staple crop in sub-Saharan Africa(SSA) with potential to be a commercial crop owing to its wide range of uses as food, feed,and industrial raw material. Soybean was first introduced to SSA by Chinese traders in the19 th century and was cultivated as an economic crop as early as 1903 in South Africa. In the past four decades, soybean cultivation area and production in SSA has increased exponentially, from about 20,000 ha and 13,000 t in the early 1970 s to 1,500,000 ha and2,300,000 t in 2016. Soybean yield has been stagnant in SSA for decades at about 1.1 t ha^(-1),much lower than the world average, representing one of the most challenging issues in the soybean industry in SSA. The low soybean yield in SSA can be attributed to the use of poorperforming varieties and to the limited application of fertilizers and rhizobial inoculants in soils with no history of soybean production. South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, and Uganda are the leading soybean producers in SSA. Soybean research in SSA is conducted by international and national research institutions, including IITA, national soybean improvement programs, universities, and the private sector. Between 1970 and 2011, 195 soybean varieties were released by IITA, private breeders, and national soybean improvement programs in SSA. This paper reviews the history and current state of soybean production and of the utilization and adoption of tropical varieties in SSA, addresses the major soybean yield-limiting factors across the region, and discusses the potential of the soybean industry in SSA. It also highlights soybean improvement efforts and lessons learned from previous soybean improvement efforts and the current progress of some national soybean improvement programs in SSA. Opportunities for scaling up tropical soybean as a major crop across SSA countries are promising.

Background: Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) is a large multimeric plasma gly-coprotein that plays an important role in primary haemostasis. VWF together with ADAMTS13 plays a key role in arterial thrombosis. VWF is integral for platelet adhesion to collagen fibres and atherosclerotic plaues and platelets aggregation under high shear conditions. Upon vascular wall damage, plasma VWF binds to collagen in the exposed endothelial matrix and platelet glycoprotein triggers platelet aggregation and thrombous formation. In the early stages of acute ischaemic stroke, VWF increased significantly and the ADAMTS13 level decreased. The increase of plasma VWF and FVIII in a patient with ischaemic stroke indicated an increased risk of complications and severe neurological deficit. Objective: to evaluate the validity of VWF and ADFAMTS13 as diagnostic markers of cerebral infarction by comparing the two markers’ validity in diagnosis. Methods: this case control study enrolled 38 cerebral infarction patients 20 acute infarction and 18 recurrent infarction. Patients were compared with 65 age and sex with control patients. We performed the VWF assay using the minividas immunofluorescence technique and the ADAMTS13 assay using the ELISA technique. Results: VWF level of acute infarction patients (280.97 ± 109.83 IU/dl) while its level in recurrent infarction (264.93 ± 172.8 IU/dl) were highly significantly increased compared to control (75.8 ± 16.24 IU/dl). ADAMTS13 level of acute infarction patients was (506.11 ± 225.24 ng/dl) and (1386.03 ± 667.64 ng/dl) in recurrent infarction patients with highly significant differences between the acute and control group and non-significant different between recurrent and control. ADAMTS13 is an excellent diagnostic test in acute cerebral infarction but a weak diagnostic test in recurrent cerebral infarction but it is a good diagnostic test in differentiation between acute and recurrent cerebral infarction patients. AIM： To analyze the epidemiological, clinical and laboratory findings of infectious ***： A retrospective study on cases of infective keratitis, attended our institution from Mar. 2013 to Feb. 2015, was done at Mansoura Ophthalmic Center, Egypt. Corneal scrapings were performed and processed for direct microscopy and culture in appropriate media using standard laboratory ***： Out of 245 patients enrolled for study, 247 corneal scrapings were obtained. Ocular trauma was the most common predisposing factor （51.4%）, followed by diabetes mellitus （15.1%）. Cultures were positive in 110 scraping samples （44.5%）： 45.5% samples had pure fungal infection, 40% had pure bacterial infections and 10% had mixed fungal and bacterial growths. Acanthamoeba was detected in 5 （4.5%） samples. The most common fungal pathogen was Aspergillus spp. （41%）. The most common bacterial isolates were Staphylococcus aureus （38.2%） and Pseudomonas aeruginosa （21.8%）.CONCLUSION： Incidence of fungal keratitis is high in our region. Therapeutic approach can initially be based on clinical features and sensitivity/resistance patterns. Microbiological research should direct the antimicrobial treatment. Antibiotic resistance to fluoroquinolones and aminoglycosides is an important consideration.

The objective of this paper is to calculate the third virial coefficient in Hartree approximation, Hartree-Fock approximation and the MontrollWard contribution of plasma byusing the Green’s function technique in terms of the interaction parameter , and used the result to calculate the quantum thermodynamic functions for one and two component plasma in the case of , where is the thermal De Broglie wave-length. We compared our results with others.
