BACKGROUND Patients with diabetes mellitus(Dm)are predisposed to an increased risk of infection signifying the importance of vaccination to protect against its potentially severe *** Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices(CDC/ACIP)issued immunization recommendations to protect this patient *** To assess the adherence of patients with Dm to the CDC/ACIP immunization recommendations in Saudi Arabia and to identify the factors associated with the vaccine adherence *** An observational retrospective study conducted in 2023 was used to collect data on the vaccination records from 13 diabetes care centers in Saudi Arabia with 1000 eligible patients in phase I with data collected through chart review and 709 patients in phase II through online *** Among participants,10.01%(n=71)had never received any vaccine,while 85.89%(n=609)received at least one dose of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccine,and 34.83%(n=247)had received the annual influenza *** 2.96%(n=21),2.11%(n=15),and 1.12%(n=8)received herpes zoster,tetanus,diphtheria,and pertussis(Tdap),and human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccines,*** patients with Dm in Saudi Arabia,the rate of vaccination for annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccines was higher compared to other vaccinations such as herpes zoster,Tdap,pneumococcal,and *** such as vaccine recommendations provided by family physicians or specialists,site of care,income level,Dm-related hospitalization history,residency site,hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)level,and health sector type can significantly influence the vaccination rate in patients with *** non-vaccinated patients with Dm,the most reported barriers were lack of knowledge and fear of side *** signifies the need for large-scale research in this area to identify additional factors that might facilitate adherence to CDC/ACIP vaccine recommendations in patients with *** In S

Implementation and Evaluation of Dynamically Weighted Low Complexity Fair Queuing(DWLC-FQ) Algorithm for Packet Scheduling in WimAX Networks

Services provided by internet need guaranteed network performance. Efficient packet queuing and scheduling schemes play key role in achieving this. Internet engineering task force(IETF) has proposed Differentiated Services(Diff Serv) architecture for IP network which is based on classifying packets in to different service classes and scheduling them. Scheduling schemes of today's wireless broadband networks work on service differentiation. In this paper, we present a novel packet queue scheduling algorithm called dynamically weighted low complexity fair queuing(DWLC-FQ) which is an improvement over weighted fair queuing(WFQ) and worstcase fair weighted fair queuing+(WF2Q+). The proposed algorithm incorporates dynamic weight adjustment mechanism to cope with dynamics of data traffic such as burst and overload. It also reduces complexity associated with virtual time update and hence makes it suitable for high speed networks. Simulation results of proposed packet scheduling scheme demonstrate improvement in delay and drop rate performance for constant bit rate and video applications with very little or negligible impact on fairness.

Co-seismic surface displacement of the June 21, 2022 m_(W)6 Khōst,Afghanistan earthquake from InSAR observations

A robust estimation of the earthquake location, seismic moment, and fault geometry is essential for objective seismic hazard assessment. Seismic events in a remote location, specifically in the absence of seismic and GNSS networks, can be investigated effectively using the In SAR-based technique. This study adopts the Differential Interferometric SAR(DIn SAR) technique to quantify the co-seismic surface displacement caused by the June 21, 2022, Khōst m_(W)6 earthquake that occurred along the western plate boundary between the Indian and Eurasian plate. The interferograms show that the maximum surface deformation occurred on the northwest and southwest of the fault line. From coherence, the Line of Sight(LOS) displacement, and the co-seismic surface displacement analysis, it has been observed that surface deformation was most pronounced in the southwest region of the fault line, and the surface has moved to the opposite direction along the fault line, which indicates a sinistral slightly oblique strike-slip movement. This In SAR-based observation appears consistent with the seismic waveforms derived from co-seismic surface displacements. Further, it has been argued that the slip deficit accumulated during the period of the last about 48 years along the frontal region of the northward extension of the Suleiman range and associated fault zone is qualitatively estimated at about 1.5 m, which is consistent with the seismic waveforms derived finite slip model.

mitigation of the impacts of electric vehicle charging on energy-star ratings for residential buildings in India

The star-labelling programme for residential buildings was introduced by India in 2020 and applies to all residential buildings with no lower limit on the built-up area or electrical *** energy-star label for a residential building is awarded against the notified standard by the regulatory body and electric vehicles(EVs)have not been accommodated as a load for residential *** en-ergy consumption of an existing residential building is taken from a study already carried out and compared with the requirement of the Indian residential star-labelling programme with an EV as a plugged-in *** annual energy gap of 6060 kWh for the existing residential buildings considered in this study for five-star building energy labels increases to 7784 kWh if the EV load is added to the building *** residential building will lose two energy stars if it caters to the EV load and,to bridge this energy gap,the replace-ment of existing electrical appliances with five-star-rated energy appliances,employing grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaics(PV)and retrofit of the building envelope are *** techno-economic potential of rooftop solar PV and building envelope retrofitting for existing residential buildings is explored using RETScreen®and eQUEST software,*** study establishes that the installation of rooftop solar PV can accommodate the additional load of EVs and can bridge half and three-quarters of the energy gap to achieve five energy stars for an existing building with and without EVs,*** is the most economical option among the options explored in this *** target Energy Performance Index is achievable by high-end energy consumers(12000 kWh/year)by additional measures,the replacement of inefficient electrical appliances and building envelope retrofitting in addition to the installation of rooftop solar PV.

The purpose of this contribution is to review our current understanding of the source and biochemistry of the circadian efferent input to the eyes of the American horseshoe crab Limuluspolyphemus and the impact of this input on the structure, physiology and biochemistry of Limulus eyes. Special emphasis is given to the role of the biogenic amine octopamine and bio- chemical cascades it activates in the eyes. In addition to reviewing published data, we present new data showing that octopamine elevates cAmP levels in Limulus lateral eyes, and we partially characterize the pharmacology of the receptors involved in this response. We also present new data showing that octopamine regulates gene expression in Limulus lateral eyes by activating a cAmP cascade

Treatment modalities in Duane’s Retraction Syndrome

●AIm:To study the different treatment modalities needed in cases of Duane’s Retraction Syndrome(DRS).●mETHODS:This prospective study undergone in more than four years,in Alexandria,included 238 patients of DRS,including type I,162 patients(68%),type II 12 patients(5%)and type III 64 patients(27%).Surgery was indicated in 98(41%)of them,to eliminate abnormal head posture,deviation of the eye in primary position,severe retraction of the globe or cosmetically unacceptable upshoot with attempted adduction.●RESULTS:Type I was the most common and type II was the *** were predominant in this study,constituting 125 patients(52.5%),and males 113 patients(47.5%).Left eye was more affected,in 110 patients(46.2%),right eye in 91 patients(38.2%)and bilateral in 37 patients(15.6%).Amblyopia was found in 27 patients(11.3%)and treated in 13 patients under 10 years of age,by patching the normal ***-eight patients(41%)were operated,the results were most satisfactory and a nomogram is followed in the surgical plan.●CONCLUSION:The surgical management is needed in less than half of the cases and should be planned for every case individually according to the clinical findings,planned nomogram and modified intraoperatively according to the anatomical findings during surgery.

Nanofluid Flows Within Porous Enclosures Using Non-Linear Boussinesq Approximation

In this paper,the Galerkin finite element method(FEm)together with the characteristic-based split(CBS)scheme are applied to study the case of the non-linear Boussinesq approximation within sinusoidal heating inclined enclosures filled with a non-Darcy porous media and *** enclosure has an inclination angle and its side-walls have varying sinusoidal temperature *** working fluid is a nanofluid that is consisting of water as a based nanofluid and Al2O3 as *** porous medium is modeled using the Brinkman Forchheimer extended Darcy *** obtained results are analyzed over wide ranges of the non-linear Boussinesq parameter 0≤ζ≤1,the phase deviation 00≤Φ≤1800,the inclination angle 00≤γ≤900,the nanoparticles volume fraction 0%≤φ≤4%,the amplitude ratio 0≤a≤1 and the Rayleigh number 104≤Ra≤*** results revealed that the average Nusselt number is enhanced by 0.73%,26.46%and 35.42%at Ra=104,105 and 106,respectively,when the non-linearBoussinesq parameter is varied from 0 to *** addition,rate of heat transfer in the case of a non-uniformly heating is higher than that of a uniformly ***-linear Boussinesq parameter rises the flow speed and heat transfer in an *** deviation makes clear changes on the isotherms and heat transfer rate on the right wall of an *** inclination angle varies the flow speed and it has a slight effect on heat transfer in an enclosure.
