Recent trends in bone metastasis treatments:A historical comparison using the new Katagiri score system

Postoperative functional evaluation of gastrectomy for gastric cancer

To improve the quality of surgical procedures for gastric cancer,it is essential to consider many components comprehensively,including gastric motility,small intestinal absorption,hormones that affect gastric motility and appetite,presence or absence of vagus nerve preservation,esophageal regurgitation on endoscopic findings,in addition to whether or not there is a physiological route for food passage through the ***,proper functional evaluation cannot be performed without considering the form and amount of energy in the nutritional supplement to be loaded,and the posture at the time of *** results of functional evaluation vary according to the method selected from many available options,but we believe that use of the most physiologically accurate,appropriate and selectable option will enable us to arrive at the best resection/reconstruction *** have reported that it is important to consider the preservation of three elements when performing gastrectomy:1)reduction of the extent of gastrectomy,2)preservation of the pylorus,and 3)preservation of the vagus nerve;among which preservation of the remnant stomach is the most ***,the selection of a reconstruction method that maintains secretion of hormones beneficial to gastric motility preserves the energy balance inherent in the human body,and also provides better quality of life.

We discuss a linear seesaw model with a field content as minimum as possible,introducing a modular S_(4)using gauged U(1)_(B−L) *** to the rank two neutrino mass matrix,we obtain a vanishing neutrino mass eigenvalue,and only the normal mass hierarchy of neutrinos is favored via the modular S_(4)*** our numericalΔχ^(2)analysis,we especially determine a relatively sharp prediction on the sum of neutrino masses to be approximately 60 meV,in addition to other predictions.

The formation and control of a room-temperature magnetic order in two- dimensional （2D） materials is a challenging quest for the advent of innovative magnetic- and spintronic-based technologies. To date, edge magnetism in 2D materials has been experimentally observed in hydrogen （H）-terminated graphene nanoribbons （GNRs） and graphene nanomeshes （GNMs）, but the measured magnetization remains far too small to allow envisioning practical applications. Herein, we report experimental evidences of large room-temperature edge ferromagnetism （FM） obtained from oxygen （O）-terminated zigzag pore edges of few-layer black phosphorus （P） nanomeshes （BPNMs）. The magnetization values per unit area are -100 times larger than those reported for H-terminated GNMs, while the magnetism is absent for H-terminated BPNMs. The magnetization measurements and the first-principles simulations suggest that the origin of such a magnetic order could stem from ferromagnetic spin coupling between edge P with O atoms, resulting in a strong spin localization at the edge valence band, and from uniform oxidation of full pore edges over a large area and interlayer spin interaction. Our findings pave the way for realizing high-efficiency 2D flexible magnetic and spintronic devices without the use of rare magnetic elements.

Spatio-temporal deposition profile of an experimentally produced turbidity current with a continuous suspension supply

A turbidity current is a turbulent, particle-laden gravity current that is driven by density differences resulting from the presence of suspended sediment particles. The current travels downslope, bearing a large amount of sediment over a great distance, and forms fluvial and submarine bedforms. Knowledge of the spatio-temporal deposition profile of turbidity-deposited sediment is important for a better understanding of sediment transport by turbidity currents. in the current study, the depositional process of experimentally produced quasi-steady turbidity currents in an inclined flume was investigated using an electrical-resistance-based depositmeter. it was found that the amount of sediment deposited along the flume bottom increases linearly with time at a specific rate, and decreases exponentially in the downstream direction. inspired by this observation, the mass conservation law was modified for the suspension layer and a simple theoretical model was proposed involving two parameters, the initial sedimentation rate and the decay constant. The proposed model reproduces the observed data from the flume experiment with high accuracy, and is consistent with the sediment transport distance of a natural example, the Bengal Fan. it was concluded that the two parameters that govern the sedimentation process are the key to estimating the deposition profile of fluvial systems.

(Arylimido)vanadium(V)-Alkylidene Complexes as Catalysts for Ring-opening Metathesis Polymerization(ROMP) of Cyclic Olefins: Ligand Design for Exhibiting the High Activity

(imido)vanadium(V)-alkylidene complexes of type V(CHSiMe3)(NR)(OR?)(PMe3)2 [R = Ad, C6H5, 2,6-Me2C6H3, 2,6-Cl2C6H3;R?= 2,6-Me2C6H3, 2,6-i Pr2C6H3, 2,6-F2C6H3, C6F5, C6Cl5] exhibited from moderate to remarkable catalytic activities for ringopening metathesis polymerization(ROMP) of norbornene(NBE). The catalytic activities were affected by the ligand substituents, and V(CHSiMe3)(N-2,6-Cl2C6H3)(OC6X5)(PMe3)2(X = F, Cl) demonstrated the exceptionally high catalytic activities for ROMP of *** complexes polymerized cycloheptene(CHPE) and cis-cyclooctene(COE), and ROMP of COE by the OC6 Cl5 analogue proceeded in a living manner even at 80℃, and the activity increased with increasing the temperature up to 120 ℃. Highly active catalysts for ROMP of cyclic olefins(NBE, cyclopentene, and CHPE) can be generated in situ by premixing isolated V(CHSiMe3)(NC6F5)(O-2,6-iPr2C6H3)(PMe3)2 with 1.0 equiv. of C6F5OH or C6Cl5OH via immediate phenoxy exchange;the activity was affected by the kind of phenol added [TOF in the ROMPs of NBE: 4.62 × 10^4 min^–1(upon addition of C6F5OH) versus 37.3 min^–1(none)].
