Appropriate Location and Deployment Method for Successful Iron Fertilization

“High nutrient, low chlorophyll (HnLC)” regions were created by locking iron into sedimentary iron sulfides with hydrogen sulfide available from volcanic eruptions in surrounding oceans. Appropriate locations and deployment methods for the iron fertilization were far from volcanoes, earthquakes and boundaries of tectonic plates to reduce the chance of iron-locking by volcanic sulfur compounds. The appropriate locations for the large-scale iron fertilization are proposed as Shag Rocks in South Georgia and the Bransfield Strait in Drake Passage in the Southern Ocean due to their high momentum flux causing efficient iron deployment. The iron (Fe) replete compounds, consisting of natural clay, volcanic ash, agar, nn>2-fixing mucilaginous cyanobacteria, carbon black, biodegradable plastic foamed polylactic acid, fine wood chip, and iron-reducing marine bacterium, are deployed in the ocean to stay within a surface depth of 100n>n> n>n>m for phytoplankton digestion. The deployment method of Fe-replete composite with a duration of at least several years for the successful iron fertilization, is configured to be on the streamline of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC). This will result in high momentum flux for its efficient dispersion on the ocean surface where diatom, copepods, krill and humpback whale stay together (~100n>n> n>n>n>n>n style="font-family:"">n style="font-size:12px;font-family:Verdana;">m). BACKGROUnD Perivascular epithelioid cell tumor(PEComa)is a rare mesenchymal tumor that exhibits an epithelioid and spindle cell *** tumor is characterized by immunoreactivity for melanocytic and myogenic markers but can be misdiagnosed as more common tumors with similar characteristics,including gastrointestinal stroma tumors or ***,a subset of PEComas has been reported to harbor a transcription factor binding to TFE3 ***,we report a rare case of TFE3-expressing malignant PEComa arising from the *** SUMMARY A 50-year-old woman presented with abdominal discomfort for 3 *** of laboratory tests were all within the normal ranges,and the patient had no notable medical *** resonance imaging revealed a large tumor on the right side of the pelvic floor,which was originally suspected to be a primary ovarian ***,during surgery,the tumor was revealed to have originated from the ***,the tumor was composed of bundles of spindle cells and sheets of epithelioid *** coagulative necrosis and numerous mitotic figures were *** revealed that the tumor cells were positive for smooth muscle actin,HMB-45,and TFE3 *** involvement of the rectal serosa was identified,leading to a final diagnosis of malignant PEComa of the *** resection was followed by adjuvant *** recurrence or metastasis was observed over a 6-month follow-up *** Malignant PEComa of the mesentery is extremely rare and should be distinguished from morphological mimics through differential diagnosis and immunohistochemistry.

nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(nAFLD) is defined as the presence of hepatic fat accumulation after the exclusion of other causes of hepatic steatosis, including other causes of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, and other conditions that may lead to hepatic steatosis. nAFLD encompasses a broad clinical spectrum ranging from nonalcoholic fatty liver to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(nASH), advanced fibrosis, cirrhosis, and finally hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). nAFLD is the most common liver disease in the world and nASH may soon become the most common indication for liver transplantation. Ongoing persistence of obesity with increasing rate of diabetes will increase the prevalence of nAFLD, and as this population ages, many will develop cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. There has been a general increase in the prevalence of nAFLD, with Asia leading the rise, yet the United States is following closely behind with a rising prevalence from 15% in 2005 to 25% within 5 years. nAFLD is commonly associated with metabolic comorbidities, including obesity, type Ⅱ diabetes, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. Our understanding of the pathophysiology of nAFLD is constantly evolving. Based on nAFLD subtypes, it has the potential to progress into advanced fibrosis, end-stage liver disease and HCC. The increasing prevalence of nAFLD with advanced fibrosis, is concerning because patients appear toexperience higher liver-related and non-liver-related mortality than the general population. The increased morbidity and mortality, healthcare costs and declining health related quality of life associated with nAFLD makes it a formidable disease, and one that requires more in-depth analysis.

AIM：To screen microRnAs（miRnAs） and set up target miRnAs in ***：Primary fibroblasts were isolated from pterygium and Tenon＇s capsule and *** analysis and Western blotting were performed to confirm the culture of *** all,1733 miRnAs were screened in the first step by using GeneChip miRnA3.0 *** miRnAs involved in the pathogenesis of pterygium were subsequently determined using the following criteria：1） high reproducibility in a repetitive test;2） base log value of 〉7.0 for both control and pterygial fibroblasts;and 3） log ratio of 〉1.0 between pterygial fibroblasts and control ***：Primary screening showed that 887/1733 miRnAs were up-regulated and 846/1733 miRnAs were down-regulated in pterygial fibroblasts compared with those in control *** the 1733 miRnAs screened,4 miRnAs,namely,miRnA-143a-3p,miRnA-181a-2-3p,miRnA-377-5p and miRnA-411a-5p,met the above-mentioned *** screening showed that these 4 miRnAs were up-regulated in pterygial fibroblasts compared with control fibroblasts and that miRnA-143a-3p had the highest mean ratio compared with the miRnAs in control ***：miRnA-143a-3p,miRnA-181a-2-3p,miRnA-377-5p and miRnA-411a-5p are up-regulated in pterygial fibroblasts compared with control fibroblasts,suggesting their involvement in the pathogenesis of pterygium.

Transparent solar cells(TSCs)are emerging devices that combine the advantages of visible transparency and light-toelectricity ***,existing TSCs are based predominantly on organics,dyes,and perovskites;however,the rigidity and color-tinted transparent nature of those devices strongly limit the utility of the resulting TSCs for realworld ***,we demonstrate a flexible,color-neutral,and high-efficiency TSC based on a freestanding form of n-silicon microwires(SiMWs).Flat-tip SiMWs with controllable spacing are fabricated via deep-reactive ion etching and embedded in a freestanding transparent polymer *** light transmittance can be tuned from ~10 to 55% by adjusting the spacing between the *** TSCs,a heterojunction is formed with a p-type polymer in the top portion of the n-type flat-tip *** contact with an indium-doped ZnO film occurs at the bottom,and the side surface has an Al2O3 passivation ***,slanted-tip SiMWs are developed by a novel solventassisted wet etching method to manipulate light ***-difference time-domain simulation revealed that the reflected light from slanted-tip SiMWs helps light-matter interactions in adjacent *** TSC based on the slanted-tip SiMWs demonstrates 8%efficiency at a visible transparency of 10% with *** efficiency is the highest among Si-based TSCs and comparable with that of state-of-the-art neutral-color TSCs based on organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite and ***,unlike others,the stretchable and transparent platform in this study is promising for future TSCs.

Objective: To examine the effects of Tribulus terrestris L.(T. terrestris) extract on the modulation of calcium channels to evaluate its use in topical agents for treatment of atopic ***: The 70% methanol extract of T. terrestris was prepared. Human HEK293 T cells with over-expressed calcium release-activated calcium channel protein 1(Orai1),transient receptor potential vanilloid 1, or transient receptor potential vanilloid 3(TRPV3)were treated with T. terrestris extract. Modulation of ion channels was measured using a conventional whole-cell patch-clamp ***: T. terrestris extract(100 mg/m L) significantly inhibited Orai1 activity in Orai1-stromal interaction molecule 1 co-overexpressed HEK293 T cells. In addition, T. terrestris extract significantly increased the TRPV3 activity compared with 2-Aminoethyl diphenylborinate(100 mmol/L), which induces the full activation of ***: Our results suggest that T. terrestris extract may have a therapeutic potential for recovery of abnormal skin barrier pathologies in atopic dermatitis through modulating the activities of calcium ion channels, Orai1 and TRPV3. This is the first study to report the modulatory effect of a medicinal plant on the function of ion channels in skin barrier.
