The corrosive environment in long-distance natural gas pipeline was simulated by the online high shear stress flow test platform.The interaction between flow fields and local corrosion in different local corrosion stages was studied by machining different depths rectangular defect pit(RDP)on X80 pipe steel specimens.The electrochemical signals of each specimen under high shear stress flow were measured online using an integrated three-electrode and electrochemical system.Raman spectroscopy confirmed that the corrosion scale of X80 pipeline steel in CO_(2)-saturated National Association of Corrosion Engineers solution was composed of FeCO_(3).The scanning electron microscope images displayed variations in microstructure of the corrosion scale at different RDP depths and different areas.The flow field fluctuations induced by RDP were analyzed by computational fluid dynamics simulations and the development of local corrosion pits was discussed in terms of integrity of corrosion scale,convective mass transfer,and diffusion mass transfer.

The corrosion behavior of B10 copper-nickel alloy welded joints in seawater pipeline system was analyzed under local turbulence induced by weld residual height.The corrosion behavior was evaluated by array electrode technology,mor-phology and elemental characterization,and COMSOL Multiphysics simulation.The results provide a theoretical basis for the corrosion and leakage of B10 alloy in seawater pipeline under the action of turbulence.The results show that residual height-induced turbulence exhibits a significant effect on the corrosion behavior in different areas of welded joints in B10 alloy.Turbulence can damage some surfaces,causing polarity deflection followed by acceleration of corrosion,or it is easier to form a protective film to slow down corrosion.COMSOL Multiphysics results show that the shear rate and turbulent kinetic energy increase linearly with the increase in residual height and velocity.The corrosion behavior of alloy surface is influenced by controlling the mass transfer rate and surface state.

The effect of ginsenosides on proliferation of type A spermatogonia was investigated in 7-day-old mice. Spermatogonia were characterized by c-kit expression and cell proliferation was assessed by immunocytochemical demonstration of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). After 72-h culture, Sertoli cells formed a confluent monolayer to which numerous spermatogonial colonies attached. Spermatogonia were positive for c-kit staining and showed high proliferating activity by PCNA expression. Ginsenosides (1.0～10 μg/ml) significantly stimulated proliferation of spermatogonia. Activation of protein kinase C (PKC) elicited proliferation of spermatogonia at 10-8 to 10-7 mol/L and the PKC inhibitor H7 inhibited this effect. Likewise, ginsenosides-stimulated spermatogonial proliferation was suppressed by combined treatment of H7. These results indicate that the proliferating effect of ginsenosides on mouse type A spermatogonia might be mediated by a mechanism involving the PKC signal transduction pathway.

INTRODUCTIONRadical cystectomy for bladder and urinary diversion is considered the gold standard for treatment of muscular invasive bladder cancer or high-risk nonmuscular invasive bladder cancer. Urinary diversion is usually classified into three types： orthotopic neobladder, ileal conduit or sigmoid conduit, and cutaneous ureterostomy Orthotopic neobladder is a better choice for urinary diversion than the other types because of its nonurinary diversion and better quality of life when this method is feasible for patients. One of the complications after creating an orthotopic neobladder is urinary incontinence. With an increasing amount of orthotopic neobladder procedures, more patients are suffering from urinary incontinence. Therefore, an article is required for diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence after the orthotopic ileal neobladder procedure.

The attenuating effect of daidzein (daI) on oxidative toxicity induced by Aroclor 1254 (A1254) was investigated in mouse testicular cells. Cells were exposed to A1254 alone or with daI. The oxidative damage was estimated by measuring malondialdehyde (Mda) formation, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and glutathione (GSH) content. Results show that A1254 induced a decrease of germ cell number, an elevation in thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) but a decrease in SOD activity and GSH content. However, simultaneous supplementation with daI decreased TBARS level and increased SOD activity and GSH content. Consequently, dietary daI may restore the intracellular antioxidant system to attenuate the oxidative toxicity of A1254 in testicular cells.

BACKGROUND Hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome(HSOS)is a rare complication in solid organ transplant recipients,especially in liver transplantation recipients.However,the consequences of HSOS occurrence are pernicious,which could result in severe liver or renal failure,and even death.In addition to previously reported azathioprine and acute rejection,tacrolimus is also considered as one predisposing factor to induce HSOS after liver transplantation,although the underlying mechanism remains unclear.CASE SUMMARY In this study,we reported three cases of tacrolimus-related HSOS after liver transplantation.The diagnosis of HSOS was firstly based on the typical symptoms including ascites,painful hepatomegaly and jaundice.Furthermore,the features of patchy enhancement on portal vein and delayed phase of abdominal enhanced computed tomography were suspected of HSOS and ultimately confirmed by liver biopsy and histological examination in two patients.A significant decrease in ascites and remission of clinical symptoms of abdominal distention and pain were observed after withdrawal of tacrolimus.CONCLUSION Tacrolimus-induced HSOS is a scarce but severe complication after liver transplantation.It lacks specific symptoms and diagnostic criteria.Timely diagnosis of HSOS is based on clinical symptoms,radiological and histological examinations.Discontinuation of tacrolimus is the only effective treatment.Transplantation physicians should be aware of this rare complication potentially induced by tacrolimus.

Background:The hepatic artery is the only blood source nourishing the biliary duct and associated with biliary complication after liver transplantation(LT).Gastroduodenal artery(Gda)disconnection increased proper hepatic artery flow.Whether this procedure attenuates biliary non-anastomotic stricture(NAS)is not clear.Methods:A total of 241 patients with LT were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were divided into the Gda disconnection(Gda-)and Gda preservation(Gda+)groups.Propensity score matching(PSM)was administrated to reduce bias.Logistic regression was conducted to analyze risk factors for biliary NAS before and after PSM.Postoperative complications were compared.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and log-rank tests were performed to compare overall survival.Results:In all,99 patients(41.1%)underwent Gda disconnection,and 49(20.3%)developed NAS.Multivariate logistic regression revealed that Gda preservation(OR=2.24,95%CI:1.11-4.53;P=0.025)and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score>15(OR=2.14,95%CI:1.12-4.11;P=0.022)were risk factors for biliary NAS.PSM provided 66 pairs using 1:2 matching method,including 66 Gda disconnection and 99 Gda preservation patients.Multivariate logistic regression after PSM also showed that Gda preservation(OR=3.15,95%CI:1.26-7.89;P=0.014)and MELD score>15(OR=2.41,95%CI:1.08-5.36;P=0.031)were risk factors for NAS.When comparing complications between the two groups,Gda preservation was associated with a higher incidence of biliary NAS before and after PSM(P=0.031 and 0.017,respectively).In contrast,other complications including early allograft dysfunction(P=0.620),small-for-size graft syndrome(P=0.441),abdominal hemorrhage(P=1.000),major complications(Clavien-Dindo grade≥3,P=0.318),and overall survival(P=0.088)were not significantly different between the two groups.Conclusions:Gda disconnection during LT ameliorates biliary NAS incidence and may be recommended for application in clinical practice.

Hard carbon anode has shown extraordinary potentials for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)owing to the cost-effectiveness and advantaged microstructure.Nevertheless,the widespread application of hard carbon is still hindered by the insufficient sodium storage capacity and depressed rate property,which are mainly induced by the undesirable pseudographitic structure.Herein,we develop a molten-salt-mediated strategy to regulate the pseudographitic structure of hard carbon with suitable interlayer spacing and enlarged pseudographitic domain,which is conducive to the intercalation capacity and diffusion kinetics of sodium ions.Impressively,the optimized hard carbon anode delivers a high reversible capacity of 320 mAh·g^(−1),along with superior rate property(138 mAh·g−1 at 2 A·g^(−1))and stable cyclability over 1800 cycles.Moreover,the in situ Raman spectroscopic study and full-cell assembly further investigate the sodium storage mechanism and practical implement of obtained hard carbon.This work pioneers a low-cost and effective route to regulate the pseudographitic structure of hard carbon materials for advanced SIBs.

The transformation of aldose to ketose or common sugars into rare saccharides,including rare ketoses and aldoses,is of great value and interest to the food industry and for saccharidic biomass utilization,medicine,and the synthesis of drugs.Nowadays,high-fructose corn syrup(HFCS)is industrially produced in more than 10 million tons annually using immobilized glucose isomerase.Some low-calorie saccharides such as tagatose and psicose,which are becoming popular sweeteners,have also been produced on a pilot scale in order to replace sucrose and HFCS.However,current catalysts and catalytic processes are still difficult to utilize in biomass conversion and also have strong substrate dependence in producing high-value,rare sugars.Considering the specific reaction properties of saccharides and catalysts,since the pioneering discovery by Fischer,various catalysts and catalytic systems have been discovered or developed in attempts to extend the reaction pathways,improve the reaction efficiency,and to potentially produce commercial products.In this review,we trace the history of sugar isomerization/epimerization reactions and summarize the important breakthroughs for each reaction as well as the difficulties that remain unresolved to date.
