Efficient and selective upcycling of waste polylactic acid into acetate using nickel selenide

The conversion of waste polylactic acid（PLA） plastics into high-value-added chemicals through electrochemical methods is a promising and sustainable ***,developing efficient and highly selective catalysts for lactic acid oxidation reaction（LAOR） and understanding the reaction process are ***,we report the electrooxidation of waste PLA to acetate at a high current density of 100 mA cm-2 with high Faraday efficiency（～95%） and excellent stability（>100 h） over a nickel selenide nanosheet *** addition,a total Faraday efficiency of up to 190% was achieved for carboxylic acids,including acetic acid and formic acid,by coupling with the cathodic CO2reduction *** situ experimental results and theoretical simulations revealed that the catalytic activity center of LAOR was dynamically formed NiOOH species,and the surface-adsorbed SeOxspecies accelerated the formation of Ni3+species,thus promoting catalytic *** mechanism of lactic acid electrooxidation was further *** acid was dehydrogenated to produce pyruvate first and then formed CH3CO due to preferential C-C bond cleavage,resulting in the presence of *** work demonstrated a sustainable method for recycling waste PLA and CO2into high-value-added products.

The sluggish lithium-ion(Li-ion)transport kinetics in graphite anode hinders its application in fast-charging Li-ion batteries(LIBs).Here,we develop an ionpumping interphase(IPI)on graphdiyne(GDY)/graphite heterojunction anodes to boost the ionic transport kinetics and enable high-performance,fast-charging *** IPI changed the ion solvation/desolvation environment by covalent/non-covalent interactions with Li ions or solvents to optimize solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI)and regulate Li-ion transport *** studied the in situ growth of few-layer GDY on graphite surface(GDY/graphite)as the IPI and found that the strong interaction between GDY and Li ions enabled surface-induced modification of the ion solvation behavior and surface-assisted desolvation effect to accelerate the Li-ion desolvation process.A functional anion-derived SEI layer with improved Li-ion conductivity was *** with the generated built-in electric field at GDY/graphite hetero-interface self-pumping Li ions to intercalate into the graphite,the Li-ion transport kinetics was significantly enhanced to effectively eliminate Li plating and large voltage polarization of the graphite anodes.A fast Li intercalation in GDY/graphite without Li oversaturation at the edge of the graphite was directly *** superior performance with high capacity(139.2 mA h g^(-1))and long lifespan(1650 cycles)under extremely fast-charging conditions(20 C,1 C=372 mA g^(-1))was achieved on GDY/graphite *** at low temperatures(-20℃),a specific capacity of 128.4 mA h g^(-1) was achieved with a capacity retention of 80%after 500 cycles at a 2 C rate.

Sedimentation solid-state NMR is a novel method for sample preparation in solid-state NMR（ssNMR）studies. It involves the sedimentation of soluble macromolecules such as large protein complexes. By utilizing ultra-high centrifugal forces, the molecules in solution are driven into a high-concentrated hydrogel, resulting in a sample suitable for solid-state NMR. This technique has the advantage of avoiding the need for chemical treatment, thus minimizing the loss of sample biological activity. Sediment ssNMR has been successfully applied to a variety of non-crystalline protein solids, significantly expanding the scope of solid-state NMR research. In theory, using this method, any biological macromolecule in solution can be transferred into a sedimented solute appropriate for solid-state NMR analysis. However, specialized equipment and careful handling are essential for effectively collecting and loading the sedimented solids to solid-state NMR rotors. To improve efficiency, we have designed a series of loading tools to achieve the loading process from the solution to the rotor in one step. In this paper, we illustrate the sample preparation process of sediment NMR using the H1.4-NCP167complex, which consists of linker histone H1.4 and nucleosome core particle, as an example.

Understanding the structural changes and degradation mechanisms of organic pollutants is critical in environmental *** this work, a xenon lamp was used as an analog light source to simulate the eff ect of sunlight on 3,3′-diamino-4,4′-azoxyfurazan (daAF) in aqueous solution. Combining high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS), surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) with density functional theory (DFT), the degradation intermediates and mechanisms of daAF were investigated. The sequential breakdown of the–NH 2and–O–N=bonds, followed by the removal of atomic O from–N=N(O)–, was emphasized and investigated using two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2D-COS) and SERS spectra. Three intermediates with mass-to-charge ratios (m/z) 181, 251 and180 were identifi ed and characterized by integrating experimental SERS data with DFT-calculated Raman spectra based on structures hypothesized from MS spectra. The fi ndings from HPLC–MS and SERS not only corroborate each other but also provide a foundation for a detailed examination of the daAF degradation process.
