The incidence of large bone defects caused by traumatic injury is increasing worldwide,and the tissue regeneration process requires a long recovery time due to limited self-healing *** bioelectrical phenomena have been well recognized as critical biophysical factors in bone remodeling and *** by bioelectricity,electrical stimulation has been widely considered an external intervention to induce the osteogenic lineage of cells and enhance the synthesis of the extracellular matrix,thereby accelerating bone *** ongoing advances in biomaterials and energy-harvesting techniques,electroactive biomaterials and self-powered systems have been considered biomimetic approaches to ensure functional recovery by recapitulating the natural electrophysiological microenvironment of healthy bone *** this review,we first introduce the role of bioelectricity and the endogenous electric field in bone tissue and summarize different techniques to electrically stimulate cells and ***,we highlight the latest progress in exploring electroactive hybrid biomaterials as well as self-powered systems such as triboelectric and piezoelectric-based nanogenerators and photovoltaic cell-based devices and their implementation in bone tissue ***,we emphasize the significance of simulating the target tissue’s electrophysiological microenvironment and propose the opportunities and challenges faced by electroactive hybrid biomaterials and self-powered bioelectronics for bone repair strategies.

Influence of Si Content on Properties of Ti1-xSixN Coatings

To investigate the evolution of microstructure and wear behavior of TiSiN coatings with the variation of Si in targets and lays the foundation for its controllable mass production, Ti1-xSixN composite coatings were deposited onto Si(100) and cemented carbide substrates using TiSi targets with different Si content by cathodic arc ion plating. The influences of Si on the microstructure and mechanical properties were studied. Nano-amorphous composite structure appeared in the Ti1-xSixN coatings when Si content in TiSi target was higher than 5 at%. However, further increase of Si content in TiSi target exhibited a negligible effect on the microstructure of Ti1-xSixN coatings. Hardness and deformation resistance were correlated to the content of Si in TiSi targets. Maximum hardness was obtained as the Si content in target increased up to 20 at%. Friction coefficient and wear rate significantly decreased with addition of Si in TiN coating, and then dually increased with the increase of Si content in targets.

Meta-analysis of stapled hemorrhoidopexy vs LigaSure hemorrhoidectomy

AIM: To compare outcome of stapled hemorrhoidopexy (SH) vs LigaSure hemorrhoidectomy (LH) by a meta-analysis of available randomized controlled trials (RCTs). METHODS: databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and the Science Citation Index updated to December 2012, were searched. The main outcomes measured were operating time, early postoperative pain, postoperative urinary retention and bleeding, wound problems, gas or fecal incontinence, anal stenosis, length of hospital stay, residual skin tags, prolapse, and recurrence. The meta-analysis was performed using the free software Review Manager. Differences observed between the two groups were expressed as the odds ratio (OR) with 95%CI. A fixedeffects model was used to pool data when statistical heterogeneity was not present. If statistical heterogeneity was present (P < 0.05), a random-effects model was used. RESULTS: The initial search identified 10 publica-tions. After screening, five RCTs published as full articles were included in this meta-analysis. Among the five studies, all described a comparison of the patient baseline characteristics and showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Although most of the analyzed outcomes were similar between the two operative techniques, the operating time for SH was significantly longer than for LH (P < 0.00001; OR= -6.39, 95%CI: -7.68 -5.10). The incidence of residual skin tags and prolapse was significantly lower in the LH group than in the SH group [2/111 (1.8%) vs 16/105 (15.2%); P = 0.0004; OR= 0.17, 95%CI: 0.06-0.45). The incidence of recurrence after the procedures was significantly lower in the LH group than in the SH group [2/173 (1.2%) vs 13/174 (7.5%); P = 0.003; OR= 0.21, 95%CI: 0.07-0.59]. CONCLUSION: Both SH and LH are probably equally valuable techniques in modern hemorrhoid surgery. However, LigaSure might have slightly favorable immediate postoperative results and technical advantages.

An Improved Approximation Algorithm for the k-Level Facility Location Problem with Soft Capacities

We consider the k-level facility location problem with soft capacities （k-LFLPSC）. In the k- LFLPSC, each facility i has a soft capacity ui along with an initial opening cost fi ≥O, i.e., the capacity of facility i is an integer multiple of ui incurring a cost equals to the corresponding multiple of fi. We firstly propose a new bifactor （ln（1/β）/（1 -β）, 1 ＋ 2/（1 - β））-approximation algorithm for the k-level facility location problem （k-LFLP）, where β∈（0, 1） is a fixed constant. Then, we give a reduction from the k-LFLPSC to the k-LFLP. The reduction together with the above bifactor approximation algorithm for the k-LFLP imply a 5.5053-approximation algorithm for the k-LFLPSC which improves the previous 6-approximation.

Comparison of Modeling SPARC spiral galaxies’rotation curves:halo models ***

The tension between luminous matter and dynamical matter has long been an interesting and controversial topic in the investigation of *** is particularly true when we study spiral galaxies for which we have high quality observations of rotation *** solutions to the tension are proposed in two different approaches,one is the dark matter hypothesis and the other is MOdified Newtonian Dynamics(MOND)*** we test the solutions by using observational data of rotation curves,the controversy arises when we apply them to both low surface brightness(LSB)galaxies and high surface brightness(HSB)*** one likes to use the rotation curves of LSB galaxies,since dark matter is needed or the Newtonian acceleration falls below the characteristic acceleration a0 in most regions of such galaxies,even near their *** for HSB galaxies,dark matter is needed or Newtonian acceleration falls below the characteristic acceleration a0 only in their outer regions so it is helpful to single out HSB galaxies from some large sample to test the *** this end,we employ a sub-sample of the rotation curves consisting of45 non-bulgy HSB galaxies selected from the Spitzer Photometry and Accurate Rotation Curves(SPARC)database to test two dark halo models(NFW and Burkert)and *** find that,among the three models,the core-dominated Burkert halo model(χ_(v)^(2)=1.00)provides a better description of the observed data than the NFW model(χ_(v)^(2)=1.44)or MOND model(χ_(v)^(2)=1.87).This is not consistent with the most recent numerical simulations,which tend to favor some cuspy density profiles for HSB *** MOND,when we take a0 as a free parameter,there is no obvious correlation between a0 and disk central surface brightness at 3.6μm of these HSB spiral galaxies,which is in line with the basic assumption of MOND that a0 should be a universal constant,but is surprisingly not consistent with the results when LSB galaxies are ***,our fi

Unraveling post-growth mechanisms of monolayer CsPbBr3 nanocubes:Laser-enhanced transformations and cathodoluminescence-electron microscopy correlations

Lead-halide perovskite nanoparticles（LHP NPs） are highly promising materials for next-generation displays and solid-state lighting due to their exceptional optical properties. However, their inherent instability presents a significant challenge. Recent advances have demonstrated that optoelectronic devices based on monolayer nanoparticle films exhibit both high luminescence efficiency and long-term *** research demonstrates that mobility limitations and anisotropic alignments in CsPbBr3nanocube monolayer films are key to their stabilization, hindering spontaneous growth through face-to-face fusion and resulting in the formation of connecting necks in a diagonal direction. Introducing laser irradiation confirmed this by significantly accelerating nanocubes growth, increasing mobility, and enhancing local structural ordering, leading to larger and more regularly shaped nanosheets. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy line-scan analyses indicated that laser irradiation did not disrupt the ligand structure. Transmission electron microscopy and correlative cathodoluminescence electron microscopy revealed the effects of post-growth and heterogeneous structures, including enhanced luminescence and inhomogeneous intensity in the nanosheets. These findings deepen the understanding of the post-growth mechanism of monolayer nanoparticles and the structure-emission correlation and highlight the unique role of laser irradiation in directing the formation of well-defined and regular nanostructures.

Ischemic stroke is a secondary cause of mortality worldwide,imposing considerable medical and economic burdens on *** vesicles,serving as natural nanocarriers for drug delivery,exhibit excellent biocompatibility in vivo and have significant advantages in the management of ischemic ***,the uncertain distribution and rapid clearance of extracellular vesicles impede their delivery *** utilizing membrane decoration or by encapsulating therapeutic cargo within extracellular vesicles,their delivery efficacy may be greatly ***,previous studies have indicated that microvesicles,a subset of large-sized extracellular vesicles,can transport mitochondria to neighboring cells,thereby aiding in the restoration of mitochondrial function post-ischemic *** extracellular vesicles have also demonstrated the capability to transfer mitochondrial components,such as proteins or deoxyribonucleic acid,or their sub-components,for extracellular vesicle-based ischemic stroke *** this review,we undertake a comparative analysis of the isolation techniques employed for extracellular vesicles and present an overview of the current dominant extracellular vesicle modification *** the complex facets of treating ischemic stroke,we also delineate various extracellular vesicle modification approaches which are suited to different facets of the treatment ***,given the burgeoning interest in mitochondrial delivery,we delved into the feasibility and existing research findings on the transportation of mitochondrial fractions or intact mitochondria through small extracellular vesicles and microvesicles to offer a fresh perspective on ischemic stroke therapy.

Eubacterium rectale Improves the Efficacy of Anti-PD1 Immunotherapy in Melanoma via l-Serine-Mediated NK Cell Activation

Natural killer(NK)cells,as key immune cells,play essential roles in tumor cell immune escape and *** evidence has demonstrated that the gut microbiota community affects the efficacy of anti-PD1 immunotherapy and that remodeling the gut microbiota is a promising strategy to enhance anti-PD1 immunotherapy responsiveness in advanced melanoma patients;however,the details of the mechanism remain *** this study,we found that Eubacterium rectale was significantly enriched in melanoma patients who responded to anti-PD1 immunotherapy and that a high *** abundance was related to longer survival in melanoma ***,administration of *** remarkably improved the efficacy of anti-PD1 therapy and increased the overall survival of tumor-bearing mice;moreover,application of *** led to a significant accumulation of NK cells in the tumor ***,conditioned medium isolated from an *** culture system dramatically enhanced NK cell *** chromatography-mass spectrometry/ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry-based metabolomic analysis showed that l-serine production was significantly decreased in the *** group;moreover,administration of an l-serine synthesis inhibitor dramatically increased NK cell activation,which enhanced anti-PD1 immunotherapy ***,supplementation with l-serine or application of an l-serine synthesis inhibitor affected NK cell activation through Fos/*** summary,our findings reveal the role of bacteria-modulated serine metabolic signaling in NK cell activation and provide a novel therapeutic strategy to improve the efficacy of anti-PD1 immunotherapy in melanoma.
