Eigenstate properties of the disordered Bose-Hubbard chain

Many-body localization(MBL)of a disordered interacting boson system in one dimension is studied numerically at the filling faction *** von Neumann entanglement entropy Svn is commonly used to detect the MBL phase transition but remains challenging to be directly *** on the U(1)symmetry from the particle number conservation,Svn can be decomposed into the particle number entropy S_(n) and the configuration entropy *** light of the tendency that the eigenstate's S_(c) nears zero in the localized phase,we introduce a quantity describing the deviation of S from the ideal thermalization distribution;finite-size scaling analysis illustrates that it shares the same phase transition point with Sv but displays the better critical *** observation hints that the phase transition to MBL might largely be determined by S and its fluctuations Notably,the recent experiments[***,et al.,Science 364,256(2019);***,et al.,***.19,481(2023)]demonstrated that this deviation can potentially be measured through the Sn ***,our investigations reveal that the thermalized states primarily occupy the low-energy section of the spectrum,as indicated by measures of localization length,gap ratio,and energy density *** low-energy spectrum of the Bose model closely resembles the entire spectrum of the Fermi(or spin XXZ)model,accommodating a transition from the thermalized to the localized ***,owing to the bosonic statistics,the high-energy spectrum of the model allows the formation of distinct clusters of bosons in the random potential *** analyze the resulting eigenstate properties and briefly summarize the associated *** distinguish between the phase regions at the low and high energies,a probing quantity based on the structure of S_(VN) is also *** work highlights the importance of symmetry combined with entanglement in the study of *** this regard,for the disordered Heisenberg XXZ

In-situ powder mixing for laser-based directed energy deposition of functionally graded materials

The mixing of powders is a highly relevant field under additive manufacturing,however,it has attracted limited interest to *** in-situ mixing of various powders remains a significant *** paper proposes a new method utilizing a static mixer for the in-situ mixing of multiple powders through the laser-based directed energy deposition(DED)of functionally graded ***,a powder-mixing experimental platform was established;WC and 316L powders were selected for the mixing ***,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectroscopy,and image processing were used to visually evaluate the homogeneity and proportion of the in-situ mixed ***,powder-mixing simulations were conducted to determine the powder-mixing *** the simulations,a powder carrier gas flow field and particle mixing were ***,a WC/316L metal matrix composite sample was produced using laser-based DED to verify the application potential of the static *** was found that the static mixer could adjust the powder ratio online,and a response time of 1–2 s should be considered when adjusting the ratio of the mixed powder.A feasible approach for in-situ powder mixing for laser-based DED was demonstrated and investigated,creating the basis for functionally graded materials.

Background:Cancer-related fatigue(CRF)is a common and debilitating symptom experienced by patients with advanced-stage cancer,especially those undergoing antitumor *** study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Renshenguben(RSGB)oral solution,a ginseng-based traditional Chinese medicine,in alleviating CRF in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)receiving antitumor ***:In this prospective,open-label,controlled,multicenter study,patients with advanced HCC at BCLC stage C and a brief fatigue inventory(BFI)score of≥4 were *** were assigned to the RSGB group(RSGB,10 mL twice daily)or the control group(with supportive care).Primary and secondary endpoints were the change in multidimensional fatigue inventory(MFI)score,and BFI and functional assessment of cancer therapy-hepatobiliary(FACT-Hep)scores at weeks 4 and 8 after *** events(AEs)and toxicities were ***:A total of 409 participants were enrolled,with 206 assigned to the RSGB *** week 4,there was a trend towards improvement,but the differences were not statistically *** week 8,the RSGB group exhibited a significantly lower MFI score(P<0.05)compared to the control group,indicating improved fatigue ***,the RSGB group showed significantly greater decrease in BFI and FACT-Hep scores at week 8(P<0.05).Subgroup analyses among patients receiving various antitumor treatments showed similar *** linear regression analyses revealed that the RSGB group experienced a significantly substantial decrease in MFI,BFI,and FACT-Hep scores at week *** serious drug-related AEs or toxicities were ***:RSGB oral solution effectively reduced CRF in patients with advanced HCC undergoing antitumor therapy over an eight-week period,with no discernible *** findings support the potential of RSGB oral solution as an adjunctive treatment for managing CRF in this patient population.

Molecular investigation into the transformation of recalcitrant dissolved organic sulfur in refinery sour water during stripping process

Refinery sour water primarily originates from the tops of towers in various units and coker condensate,and cannot be discharged directly to a wastewater treatment plant due to high levels of chemical oxygen demand(COD)and organic sulfur *** after the recovery of H_(2)S from the sour water by the stripping process,the effluent still contains a high concentration of dissolved organic sulfur(DOS),which can have a huge bad *** chemical composition of dissolved organic matter(DOM)in refinery wastewater has been extensively studied,the investigation of recalcitrant DOS from sour waters remains *** the present study,chemical composition of sour water DOMs(especially DOS)was investigated using fluorescence spectroscopy(excitation-emission matrix,EEM)and mass spectrometry,including gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)and high-resolution Orbitrap *** GC-MS and EEM results showed that volatile and low-aromaticity compounds were effectively removed during the stripping process,while compounds with high hydrophilicity and humification degree were found to be more *** Orbitrap MS results showed that weak-polar oxygenated sulfur compounds were easier to be removed than oxygenated ***,the effluent still contained significant amounts of sulfur-containing compounds with multiple sulfur atoms,particularly in the form of highly unsaturated and aromatic *** Orbitrap MS/MS results of CHOS-containing compounds from the effluent indicate that the sulfur atoms may exist as sulfonates,disulfide bonds,*** the composition and structure of sour water DOS is crucial for the development of effective treatment processes that can target polysulfide compounds and minimize their impact on the environment.

Effect of Mn content on microstructure and properties of AlCrCuFeMnx high-entropy alloy

Innovative coaxial high-temperature thin-film sensor with core-shell structure surpassing traditional multilayer films

High-temperature thin-film sensors(TFSs)often suffer from inadequate tolerance to elevated *** this study,an innovative approach is presented to fabricate in situ integrated TFSs with a core-shell structure on alloy components using coaxial multi-ink printing *** method replaces traditional layerby-layer(LbL) deposition and LbL sintering processes and achieves simplified one-step *** coaxial TFS includes a conductive Pt core for conducting and sensing and a dielectric shell for electrical isolation and high-temperature *** coaxial Pt resistance grid demonstrates excellent high-temperature stability,with a resistance drift rate of only 0.08%·h^(-1) at 800 ℃,significantly lower than traditional Pt *** employing this method,a Pt thin-film strain gauge(TFSG) is fabricated that boasts remarkable high-temperature electromechanical *** effectively addresses the problem of sensitivity degradation experienced by traditional LbL Pt TFSGs when subjected to high *** demonstrate the system integration potential of the technique by printing and verifying the functionality of a long-path thinfilm resistance grid on turbine blades,which can withstand butane flame up to ~1300℃.These results showcase the potential of core-shell structure of the coaxial TFS for high-temperature applications,providing a novel approach to develop high-performance TFS beyond traditional multilayer structure.

Solid-conversion synthesis of three-dimensionally ordered mesoporous ZSM-5 catalysts for the methanol-to-propylene reaction

A facile synthesis of hierarchical ZSM-5 with the three-dimensionally ordered mesoporosity(3DOm ZSM-5)was achieved by solid conversion(SC)of SiO_(2)colloidal crystals to high-crystalline *** products of 3DZ5_S/C and 3DZ5_S,which were severally transformed from the carbon-padded SiO_(2)colloidal crystals and the initial SiO_(2)colloidal crystals,exhibited not only a similar ordered structure and acidity but also higher crystallinity and more balanced meso-/micropore combination in comparison with 3DZ5_C obtained by the conventional confined space crystallization *** three synthesized 3DZ5 catalysts showed improved methanol-to-propylene performance than the commercially microporous ZSM-5(CZ5),embodied in five times longer lifetime,higher propylene selectivity and S_(propylene)/S_(ethylene) ratio(P/E),and superior coke toleration with lower formation rate of coke(R_(coke)).Moreover,the 3DZ5_S catalyst in situ converted from SiO_(2)colloidal crystals presented the highest selectivities of propylene(42.51%)and light olefins(74.6%)among all three 3DZ5 *** high efficiency in synthesis and in situ utilization of SiO_(2)colloidal crystals demonstrate the proposed SC strategy to be more efficiently and eco-friendly for the high-yield production of not only 3DOm ZSM-5 but also other types of hierarchical zeolites.

Quantification of perfluorinated compounds in atmospheric particulate shows potential connection with environmental event

A method of quantification of perfluorinated compounds(PFCs)from atmospheric particulate matter(APM)is described.A single step pretreatment method,selective pressurized liquid extraction(SPLE),was developed to reduce the high matrix background and avoid contamination from commonly used multiple sample pretreatment *** effective sorbent was selected to purify the PFCs during SPLE,followed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC–MS/MS),for quantification of *** affecting the SPLE efficiency,including temperature,static extraction time,and number of extraction cycles used,were *** optimum conditions were found to be 120℃,10 min,and 3 cycles,***-MS/MS method was developed to obtain the optimal sensitivity specific to *** method detection limits(MDLs)were 0.006 to 0.48 ng/g for the PFCs studied and the linear response range was from 0.1 to 100 ng/*** ensure accurate values were obtained,each step of the experiment was evaluated and controlled to prevent *** optimized method was tested by performing spiking experiments in natural particulate matter matrices and good rates of recovery and reproducibility were obtained for all target ***,the method was successfully used to measure 16 PFCs in the APM samples collected in Beijing over five years from 2015 to *** is observed that some PFCs follow the trend of total PFC changes,and can be attributed to the environment influencing events and policy enforcement,while others don't seem to change as much with time of the year or from year to year.

Hyperbolic hierarchical graph attention network for knowledge graph completion

Utilizing graph neural networks for knowledge embedding to accomplish the task of knowledge graph completion(KGC)has become an important research area in knowledge graph ***,the number of nodes in the knowledge graph increases exponentially with the depth of the tree,whereas the distances of nodes in Euclidean space are second-order polynomial distances,whereby knowledge embedding using graph neural networks in Euclidean space will not represent the distances between nodes *** paper introduces a novel approach called hyperbolic hierarchical graph attention network(H2GAT)to rectify this ***,the paper conducts knowledge representation in the hyperbolic space,effectively mitigating the issue of exponential growth of nodes with tree depth and consequent information ***,it introduces a hierarchical graph atten-tion mechanism specifically designed for the hyperbolic space,allowing for enhanced capture of the network structure inherent in the knowledge ***,the efficacy of the proposed H2GAT model is evaluated on benchmark datasets,namely WN18RR and FB15K-237,thereby validating its *** H2GAT model achieved 0.445,0.515,and 0.586 in the Hits@1,Hits@3 and Hits@10 metrics respectively on the WN18RR dataset and 0.243,0.367 and 0.518 on the FB15K-237 *** incorporating hyperbolic space embedding and hierarchical graph attention,the H2GAT model successfully addresses the limitations of existing hyperbolic knowledge embedding models,exhibiting its competence in knowledge graph completion tasks.

Modelling smear effect of vertical drains using a diameter reduction method

Vertical drains are used to accelerate consolidation of clays in ground improvement *** zones exist around these drains,where permeability is reduced due to soil disturbance caused by the installation *** solution is widely used in practice to consider the effects of drain discharge capacity and smear on the consolidation *** this study,a computationally efficient diameter reduction method(DRM)obtained from the Hansbo solution is proposed to consider the smear effect without the need to model the smear zone *** by analytical and numerical results,a diameter reduction factor is analytically derived to reduce the diameter of the drain,while achieving similar solutions of pore pressure dissipation profile as the classical full model of the smear zone and *** the DRM,the excess pore pressure u obtained from the reduced drain in the original un-disturbed soil zone is accurate enough for practical applications in numerical *** performance of DRM is independent of soil material *** also show equally accurate performance of DRM under conditions of multi-layered soils and coupled radial-vertical groundwater flow.
